Earlier this month, Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix Alpha which is an extraordinary looking smartphone. Following its launch, it was revealed that the display of the device was not developed and manufactured by any of the bigwigs in the industry i.e BOE, Samsung or LG. Instead, it is manufactured by Visionox that also supplied display for Xiaomi’s two-way folding smartphone.

According to a latest piece of information, Visionox has set up an all new assembly line in Guangzhou, China which will be used to manufacture flexible AMOLED displays. Notably, to bring the production line together, a total of 11.2 billion yuan has been invested which has been raised via public capital, state-owned enterprises of Guangzhou and Visionox.

Reports claim that this production line is one of its kinds and it will further decrease the dependence of Chinese manufacturer’s on foreign suppliers like Samsung and LG. The assembly line is capable of producing flexible AMOLED displays that range from 6 inch, all the way upto 18 inch.

We have already seen a 7.92 inch flexible display with the Mi Mix Alpha, but we are yet to experience devices with this type of display as big as 18 inch. Overall, the Visionox assembly line seems to be of great importance. As displays manufactured here will open up a whole new world of possibilities in the domain of consumer electronics.

Vivo NEX 3 5G 12GB + 256GB is finally up for reservations in China

Vivo NEX 3 5G was announced earlier this month with the world’s first waterfall display. The curved screen smartphone went officially on sale last week. But today, Vivo has announced that NEX 3’s 12GB + 256GB variant is officially up for reservations in China.

This high-end version of Vivo Nex 3 5G is priced at 6198 yuan which comes to around $870. Unfortunately, the device is only available in black, unlike the lower-end models which have an additional blue color variant. The phone goes on sale on October 10 at 10 AM via Vivo’s official store in China.

Vivo NEX 3 5G’s biggest highlight is it’s 6.89-inch super curved waterfall display. The phone comes with pressure-sensitive virtual buttons on the side instead of physical ones. There’s Snapdragon 855 Plus processor inside and a 64MP triple camera setup at the back. 4500mAh battery and 44W charger take care of your charging needs.

Overall, the NEX 3 5G is a pretty good offering at its sub-$900 price tag in China. However, it remains to be seen if it can take on the Huawei Mate 30 models which are selling really well in China at the moment. Huawei confirms 500 Million Yuan worth of Mate 30 devices sold in one minute of Online sale in China

On the 26th of September, Huawei launched its latest flagship smartphones, the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro in its home country, China. On the same day of launch, the devices were put on sale both via online and online platforms.

Surprisingly, the company’s official online store which is Vmall managed to rake in aggregate sales worth over 500 million Yuan in just one minute of the sale. Therefore, based upon their price, it can be estimated that Huawei roughly sold 60,000 to 1,00,000 units of Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro combined during that time period.

According to the company, once the devices were out of stock from the online store, customers started flocking to nearest offline Huawei stores that received an overwhelming demand.

Overall, the astounding sales total and positive response from customers indicate that Huawei is off to strong demand for its latest flagship smartphones at least in its home country.

While not much can be said about the popularity of Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro in other regions at this point. The fact that these devices will not ship with Google services including the Play Store, could make potential customers think twice before purchasing them.

Huawei just opened its global flagship store in Shenzhen, China and it’s already flooded with people who are looking to purchase the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro flagship smartphones.

There’s a reason why Huawei is calling this building as its Global flagship store. The place is huge with multiple levels and open space where you’ll find almost all of its products under one roof. From the images, we can see that Huawei is showcasing its recent smartphones as well as its Smart TVs at the store. Fans can even check out Huawei tablets and Matebook laptops at the store. In short, it is a one-stop destination to check out the hundreds of Huawei and Honor products available in China.

The launch of the new Global Flagship Store coincides with the Mate 30 series launch in China. So it’s no surprise that fans flooded the store in the hopes of getting a unit. Photos also reveal that Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu also made an appearance at the store earlier today. However, it is said that the Mate 30 models are in short supply at the moment in China.

The phone has unsurprisingly garnered a tremendous response in its home market. The Mate 30 series exceeded 500 million yuan in sales within a minute of its availability on the official VMALL store in China and over 1 million units were reportedly sold within three hours after the official sales began.

As always, the camera is the biggest selling point of the new Huawei models. In fact, the Mate 30 Pro has also surpassed the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G to become the highest-rated camera smartphone on DxOMark today.

Update: Realme’s CMO, Francis Wang, took to Twitter shortly after the pictures surfaced to reveal that the C2 Pro will not be launching. Apparently, the box was designed but they won’t be moving forward with the product.

The Realme C series may soon get a new member. The first of the affordable series, the Realme C1, which itself is just a Realme 2 with a redesigned notch, less RAM and storage; was launched last year. Realme has added two more phones – the Realme C1 (2019) and Realme C2 – to the lineup this year. It is now set to add a third which will arrive as the Realme C2 Pro.

Proof of this is a photograph of the phone’s retail box that has surfaced on the web, thanks to Mukul Sharma (@stuffListings). The photo which seems to have been taken at Realme’s office shows a bunch of Realme phones such as the Realme C2, Realme 2 Pro, Realme U1, Realme 3, Realme 3i, Realme 3 Pro, Realme 5, and Realme XT.

In addition to all these phones which have already been released, there is a box of the yet-to-be-announced Realme C2 Pro in the bottom right corner.

Unfortunately, there are no specs of the device available at the moment. However, we do not want you to get your hopes high as this may just be a version of the Realme C2 with more RAM and storage.

The Realme C2 has a 6.1-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch. It is powered by the Helio P22 processor and comes in 2GB + 16GB and 3GB + 32GB versions. There is a dedicated MicroSD card slot for up to an extra 256GB of storage.

The phone has a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup on its rear and a 5MP front-facing camera. It packs a 4000mAh battery and runs Android 9 Pie out of the box.

We expect more details about the Realme C2 Pro to surface soon and maybe even a launch, though most likely an online one.

Samsung Galaxy Fold pre-registrations begin in India, Australia and UAE

In the Q1 of 2019, Samsung unveiled its first foldable smartphone which is called the Galaxy Fold. While the device was originally set to be commercially available in the following months, due to some display related issues, Samsung had to push back this date to Q3 of 2019.

The reiterated Samsung Galaxy Fold with a slightly modified design was first put on sale in its home country, Korea on the 6th of September. Subsequently, it was also made available in Europe and the US on 9th September and 27th September, in respective order.

Samsung is now expanding its availability to other countries and interested customers residing from Australia, India and UAE can pre-register to purchase a unit of Galaxy Fold.

While Samsung India has already notified that the unique handset will launch in the country on the 1st of October, Samsung UAE and Samsung Australia are yet to provide a specific launch date. With that being said, the company is expected to launch the Galaxy Fold by the mid of October in the two latter countries as well.

To recall, the specs and features of the Galaxy Fold are as follows:

OnePlus 7T will get 960 fps slo-mo and 4K Wide-Angle video shooting via Future Update

On Thursday, OnePlus officially announced the new OnePlus 7T model. The phone is meant to be an update to the OnePlus 7 that was launched earlier this year, priced in the sub $600 segment. However, the phone offers tremendous value for money at this price tag, offering a fluid 90Hz 1080p display and the latest Snapdragon 855 plus processor. There are a bunch of new OxygenOS features as well, such as Quick Glance, Quick Action, SMS categorization, and dedicated work and Home app spaces.

OnePlus 7T featured — OnePlus 7T comes in a gradient Glacier Blue color

One of the biggest upgrades on the new OnePlus 7T model is in the camera department. The phone comes with a triple camera setup at the back with a dedicated macro and ultra-wide-angle lens. However, the phone is set to receive two important features in a future update: 4K wide-angle and super slo-mo 960fps video shooting.

OnePlus recently confirmed to folks over at XDA that these two features will come via a post-launch update. At present, the OnePlus 7T supports two slo-mo modes: 1080p video at 240fps and 720p video at 480fps. The new update should add 960fps slo-mo videography at 720p resolution. While this doesn’t sound as crazy as Mate 30 Pro‘s 7680fps AI-powered super slo-mo videos, it should bring the phone at par with many flagships of 2019.

Also, the phone currently supports wide-angle videography only at 1080p 30fps resolution. So 4K 30fps wide-angle video mode should give better quality videos with a wider field of view.

iOS 13.1 will annoyingly notify you if your iPhone 11’s screen is fake

Apple is rolling out iOS 13.1 already but there is a new feature it has added that may become annoying when you change your screen.

A support document posted by Apple says that iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max users will get a notification if they replace their screen with a genuine one.

Apparently, the system will try to verify that the replaced screen is a genuine replacement part and when it can’t, it will notify you on the lockscreen for 4 consecutive days. Afterward, it will move the message to the main settings menu for another 15 days after which it will move it to Settings > General > About.

The new feature only applies to the new iPhone 11 series. There is no mention of previous models getting it.

Apple advises that only certified technicians who have completed Apple’s service training and who use Apple genuine parts and tools should replace displays. Repairs should also be done by Apple, authorized service providers and certified technicians.

Below is a list of problems that Apple says can occur due to to the installation of a non-genuine screen:

Multi-Touch Issues

Multi-Touch might not respond on parts of the screen
Multi-Touch performance, such as missed screen touches or touches not registering in the right location

Xiaomi Water Purifier C1 is officially for reservation via Xiaomi Mall in China. The Water Purifier C1 is a successor to the Mi Water Purifier “Lentils” that was released in August this year. The Mi Water Purifier C1 comes with a higher price tag of 1299 yuan ($182) and will go on sale on September 30.

The Mi Water Purifier is an upgraded version of the Water Purifier “Lentils” and still uses the same filtration process as its predecessor. However, you get the option of connecting the water purifier to three different faucets. One can serve as a source of clean drinking water.

Apar from the three water outlet design, the Water Purifier C1 is similar in design to he Lentils. It comes with the same dimension of 471x452x170mm. It still retains the portable 3L storage tank. The Water Purifier C1 uses reverse osmosis (RO) filtration technology with four different purification chambers. The water travels through high-density folding The water that comes out is of packaging-grade drinking water standards. The manufcturer says it comes with an appreciable TDS value.

The water production efficiency to wastewater ratio is 1:1 meaning none of the water is wasted. The water output rate is 1.3L/minute and so with a 3L tank, the purifier can release drinking water to meet frequent needs. The total daily water production is about 47 cans which can meet the daily needs of a home of around 3 to 5 persons.

In addition, the Xiaomi Mi Water Purifier C1 supports the kitchen-type installation. You even get a free installation service but this is exclusive to China.

Smartisan has a launch event scheduled for October 31, “TikTok” smartphone coming?

Chinese innovative startup Smartisan was recently revealed to have partnered with TikTok creator ByteDance, or Douyin as it is known in mainland China, to launch a branded smartphone. Since then nothing has been heard from the Chinese company, well, until now. Smartisan has scheduled a launch event for October 31 in China. We are not sure what the company will announce but it could be the ByteDance-branded phone.

Smartisan has got a large stash of patents but the deal with ByteDance saw the company transferring most of its patents to ByteDance. Thus, it is believed that whatever the company will unveil will be related to the TikTok owner.

Moreover, as at July when it was confirmed that the two firms were in cooperation, the smartphone was reported to have been in development for over seven months. In that case, it is possible the first smartphone under the partnership is set to drop.

The phone maker may as well be planning to launch its own branded smartphone. We’ll keep our ears don for more information about the upcoming product.

Xiaomi starts rolling out MIUI 11 open beta for users in China

Alongside the flagship-grade, Mi 9 Pro 5G, Xiaomi also unveiled the MIUI 11 on the 24th of September at a Chinese launch event. While the closed beta MIUI 11 was rolled out on the date of its announcement, it was limited to users who signed up for it via WeChat. Today, however, the company has started seeding the open beta version of the OS to device owners residing in China.

In simpler words, users who are interested in trying out the latest operating system from Xiaomi can now do so before the stable version is released at a later point. In case you want to install this device, be prepared to encounter minor bugs which are yet to be resolved.

To install the MIUI 11 beta upgrade on compatible devices, there are two methods which are listed below:

OTA (over the air) update to latest MIUI 11, if you are running MIUI 10 development version.
If you are running on a stable version of MIUI, you will have to clear your data and manually install the package. (Note: Backup all import data, if you plan to go this route.)

Right now, the most common panels on the market come with either 45% of NTSC or 72% of NTSC with the former being cheaper and color reproduction is poor. The company could have chosen the cheap version to cut costs but didn’t. Moreover, the screen is multi-touch, another feature found in more expensive devices.

Performance-wise, the CPU used is Intel’s 8th generation Kaby lake R processor clocked at 1.8GHz accompanied by 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB SSD. But when talking about performance, we should check out more aspects than just the CPU type. For example, the previous model adopted passive heat removal and as a result, the heat didn’t dissipate on time, causing CPU to drop frequency and performance. This mistake is corrected in the Tour Pro that comes with a fan inside the fuselage. Adding a fan isn’t difficult. What’s difficult is adding a fan while at the same time keeping the body thin but XIDU managed to do it. After adding the fan, the heat removal of the Tour Pro is greatly improved. Testing reveals that CPU core temperature stays below 40 °C even under heavy use.

Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha Unboxed in video, Reveals Unique Protective Case as well

On the 24th of September, Xiaomi announced the Mi Mix Alpha which is an extraordinary looking handset with a flexible OLED display that extends all the way to its back. While consumers seemed intrigued by the unconventional smartphone, they were also concerned about its durability.

Earlier today, Xiaomi posted an official unboxing video of the Mi Mix Alpha that revealed its box contents. Noteworthy, the smartphone will ship with a protective case from the factory which is equally unique as the device itself.

According to the video, the Mi Mix Alpha is packaged in a large box that seems to be made out of cardboard with soft fibre lining. The box also carries the device name which is marked in Gold colour. Overall, the packaging looks really elegant and adds up to the smartphone’s sumptuous persona.

In addition to the smartphone, the box includes the following contents:

Power Brick
USB Cable
USB C to 3.5 mm adapter
Protective case

Talking more about the protective case, it looks more like an exoskeleton which is probably the only practical way to design a case for it. The front of the case has a flap that can protect the display while its edge is made out of transparent material which will allow to quickly go through unread notifications.

Noteworthy, even with the case installed, the rear of the Mi Mix Alpha stays exposed which could lead the display to be scuffed or scratched if not handled gently. Nonetheless, it does provide protection against accidental drops as the bezels of the case will absorb the jolt rather than the body of the device.

OPPO Reno2 F price in India is Rs. 25,990 (~$369)

On Aug. 28, OPPO India had held a launch event in India to announce Reno2 series of smartphones such as Reno2, Reno2 Z and Reno2 F. The Chinese firm did not confirm the pricing of the Reno2 F at the event. Finally, the company has today revealed that the Reno2 F carries a price tag of Rs. 25,990 (~$369).

The Reno2 F will be available for pre-orders between Sept. 28 and Oct. 3 on Amazon India. The online and offline sales of the phone will kick off on Oct. 4. Sky White and Lake Green are the two color variants of the Reno2 F. Buyers of the Reno2 F with HDFC bank card can avail 10 percent cash back on EMI transactions and consumer loans.

Bajaj FinServ is offering zero percent down payment options whereas customers can avail the handset through EMI plans from IDFC First Bank, HDB Financial Services and Home Credit. Jio users can get extra on Rs. 198 and Rs. 299 recharges on purchase of the smartphone. With Rs. 255 recharge, Vodafone and Idea subscribers can benefit from Rs. 3,750 cashback and 250 GB of extra data. With Rs. 249 recharge, Airtel subscribers can take advantage of data double and unlimited calling. Lastly, there is additional 10 percent discount on exchange value from Instacash.

OPPO Reno 2F Specifications

The OPPO Reno2 F has a notch-less AMOLED display with in-display fingerprint scanner. The handset delivers 19.5:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The screen is shielded by Gorilla Glass 5. The ColorOS 6.1 based Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device. The 4,000mAh battery of the phone supports 20W VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge technology.

The MediaTek Helio P70 chipset powers the smartphone along with 8 GB of RAM. The device offers 128 GB of native storage and has a dedicated microSD card slot for more storage. The 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel vertical quad camera system is placed on its back. It has a pop-up selfie camera of 16-megapixel.

Samsung said to release a cheaper Galaxy Fold with wider global release

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is finally being sold in select markets across the globe. After the initial delays in its release, the foldable started selling in South Korea, and will soon be sold in the U.S. and India as well. But being a first-generation device, the Fold is incredible expensive starting at near $2000. But those who were hoping for something cheaper, we might have some good news.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is currently working on a slightly cheaper version of the Galaxy Fold. Not only that, this new device is said to have a wider global release. The same report further adds that Samsung could equip the new device with 256GB storage instead of 512GB to keep the pricing lower. Also, it could come bearing the model number SM-F700F.

Releasing a cheaper foldable makes sense. With the current Galaxy Fold, Samsung is likely testing the reception for a new generation foldable design. And despite the initial issues, the phone looks to be doing well in markets like South Korea and the U.S. A cheaper device with a wider release would be the ideal next step for Samsung to make this new generation design available to a much large audience.

After weeks of leaks, the Samsung Galaxy A70s smartphone has finally gone official in India. It has debuted as the upgraded version of the Galaxy A70 phone that had launched few months ago. After Realme XT, the Galaxy A70s is the second phone in India to arrive with a 64-megapixel camera. The other exciting features of the smartphone include massive display, up to 8 GB of RAM and comes with 25W fast charging technology. It has arrived with a starting price of Rs. 28,999 (~$411).

Samsung Galaxy A70s Specifications and Features

The Samsung Galaxy A70s features a glass body with an enticing patter on its rear. It features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Infinity-U notch. It offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and is embedded with an in-display fingerprint reader. The elongated screen delivers a tall aspect ratio of 20:9.

The Snapdragon 675 that fueled the Galaxy A70 phone is also the driving force of the Galaxy A70s. Some of the known phones that feature the same SoC are Vivo V17 Pro, Motorola One Zoom and Redmi Note 7 Pro. The 6 GB and 8 GB RAM variants of the smartphone come 128 GB of native storage. It has a microSD card slot for providing users with additional storage.

The One UI based Android 9 Pie OS runs on the Galaxy A70s. The 4,500mAh battery of the smartphone is equipped with 25W rapid charging. The triple camera system of the phone has an f/1.8 aperture 64-megapixel main lens that is coupled with a 123-degree 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a 5-megapixel depth assist lens. The connectivity features available on the Galaxy A70s are dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Galaxy A70s variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage are respectively priced at Rs. 28,999 (~$411) and Rs. 30,999 (~$440). Prism Crush Red, Prism Crush Black and Prism Crush White are the three color editions of the smartphone. Starting from Sept. 28, it will be available through major offline stores, Samsung Opera House and online shop of Samsung.

Jio users who purchase the Galaxy A70s can take benefit from double data offer on recharges of Rs. 198 and Rs. 299. Airtel is also double data offer on recharges of Rs. 249 and Rs. 349. Vodafone and Idea users can take advantage of Rs. 75 cashback on a recharge of Rs. 255 through MyVodafone and MyIdea apps.

Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G Hands-On Pictures: An uncommon combo- Cheap, Sleek and 5G!

During the Mi Mix Alpha 5G launch event, Xiaomi also announced the Mi 9 Pro 5G. The phone’s pricing makes it the cheapest 5G flagship around and that was reflected in the performance of its sale today. All available units were sold out in a matter of seconds. We’ve got some cool unboxing pictures of the Mi 9 Pro 5G for your delight.

The smartphone is unarguably a beauty to behold even though we may be getting tired of seeing almost the same notch design on phone over and over again. Notwithstanding, Xiaomi tweaked the phone with several interesting stuff like a new paint job which adds class to the overall outlook. The device also comes with a slimmer build which meant the 3.5mm audio jack is missing. The phone uses a Type-C charging port which delivers faster charging. It also comes with an IR blaster and dual SIM slots but we believe the second SIM slot is a 4G slot.

As a reminder, the Mi 9 Pro 5G packs a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with dot notch. With 19.5:9 aspect ratio display on board, the phone offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.7 percent. You get an under-screen fingerprint sensor, Snapdragon 855 chipset and up to 12GB of RAM onboard.

The Mi 9 Pro also features a 4,000mAh battery that comes with support for 40W wired charging which takes 48 minutes to fully charge the device by using the in-box 45W charger. The Mi 9 Pro 5G also supports 30W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging. It takes 69 minutes to fully charge the Mi 9 Pro 5G through 30W wireless charging. The pricing starts at 3699 yuan ($520) for the 8GB+128GB version.
