Xiaomi users are reportedly getting banned from Pokémon Go

To ensure fair play for online games and services, companies routinely ban users who they deem problematic, which includes violating terms of service, community guidelines, or cheating. However, it seems that some players of Pokémon Go game are being banned for something far less conventional — using a Xiaomi smartphone.

Xiaomi Pokemon Go Ban

If the reports on Reddit are to be believed, then Niantic, the company behind Pokémon Go game, is banning users with Xiaomi devices even though they have done nothing wrong. Some users are speculating that anti-cheating measures built into Pokémon Go are misidentifying an app or system process which is unique to Xiaomi phones.

The players are getting banned with a 30-day suspension to permanent account closures. From the report, it seems that the ban issue may only affect certain devices from Xiaomi, running MIUI 10.3.2 but it has not been confirmed if that’s the only culprit. Niantic has not yet responded to this matter.

Pokémon Go is an augmented reality (AR) game by developed by Niantic in collaboration with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company for Android and iOS devices. It uses the mobile device GPS to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual ‘Pokémon’, which appear as if they are in the player’s real-world location. It uses freemium business model and supports in-app purchases for additional in-game items.

Launched in 2016, the game was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps of 2016. By early 2019, the game had crossed over 1 billion downloads worldwide, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game, which now has over 480 Pokémon, had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

[UPDATE] Realme X2Pro is the name of Realme’s Snapdragon 855+ phone

UPDATE: Realme CMO Xu Qi has also used the unreleased Realme X2Pro to add a new Weibo post. The post shown below reads that Realme’s first Snapdragon 855+ powered smartphone is coming and it is codenamed as ‘Super Warrior.’

Original story follows…

When Snapdragon 855+ mobile platform was introduced in June, Realme was one of the first company to tease that it may launch a SD855+ powered smartphone. During the weekend, Realme China’s Product Director Wang Wei Derek was recently spotted using a mysterious phone called Realme X2Pro for posting on Weibo. Hence, it is being speculated that the Realme X2Pro could be the Snapdragon 855 powered flagship phone from Realme.

Realme X2Pro hinted

The above shown post that revealed the Realme X2Pro name has been deleted. The deleted Weibo post also revealed that the handset is codenamed as Super Warrior. Interestingly, through another Weibo post, Derek has asked users to guess on the price of Snapdragon 855 Plus powered 4G flagship phone.  In comments on the same post, he has hinted that the phone may cost 4,000 Yuan (~$561).

The Weibo posts from Derek indicates that the company could be gearing to launch a Snapdragon 855 Plus powered flagship phone. A reliable tipster from China has claimed that the Realme X2Pro will break cover in mid-October.

Last week, an unannounced Realme phone with model number RMX1931 was spotted at the database of Bluetooth SIG. The listing suggested that the smartphone is fueled by 2.84GHz Qualcomm octa-core processor which suggested that it could be featuring the Snapdragon 855 SoC that was announced in December last year. Hence, it remains to be seen whether the Realme X2Pro really exists or not and if it exists, whether it will be equipped with Snapdragon 855 or 855+.

The Bluetooth SIG listing had further stated that the Realme RMX1931 is fitted with a 6.55-inch full HD display and carries support for Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity. It is speculated that it could be backed by a 1,950mAh battery. The handset will be running on ColorOS 6.0. Huawei CEO says it has commenced the manufacture of 5G base stations without US parts

The US/China trade war which saw Huawei taking most of the hit was expected to have a catastrophic effect on Huawei equipment and consumer businesses. However, what we have seen in recent times point to the contrary. First Huawei unveiled its self-developed HarmonyOS. Huawei’s CEO has now disclosed that the tech giant has commenced the manufacture of 5G base stations without components from the United StatesHuawei building featured logo

The US’ placement of Huawei on the Entity list back in May meant the company won’t be able to assess components from its longstanding U.S. suppliers. Apart from the effect on the smartphone business, Huawei’s telecommunication equipment business would have been severe. This is because Huawei is the largest supplier of telecoms equipment and the company is far ahead in the development of 5G gears. The company announced earlier this month that over 200,000 of its 5G base stations has been shipped. Also disclosed is that the company had secured over 50 5G contracts around the world.

Mass production of the 5G base stations without US components would commence in October, according to Ren Zhengfei. He also hinted that the tech giant will start with 5000 5G base stations monthly during the initial phase. The company projects annual production next year will reach 1.5 million units as more and more regions and operators commence the rollout of 5G services.

Despite this new development, Mr Zhengfei says his firm would still like to use US components if the ban is lifted because he claims Huawei has “emotional ties” with long-time US suppliers. Further, he re-echoed a statement made earlier that Huawei was willing to license its 5G mobile technology to a US company or to even sell for a one-off fee.

Design

The holographic effects on the rear side of the Samsung Galaxy A70s are surely suggestive, but its build quality looks inferior to the Redmi Note 8 Pro and the Realme X2. Both these Chinese mid-rangers sport an amazing glass back, but I like the Realme X2 more because it comes with a cleaner design and there is no rear-mounted fingerprint reader. In my opinion, the Realme X2 is definitely the most elegant one.

Display

AMOLED panels are currently a trend because they can deliver more brilliant colors and deeper blacks. While Samsung Galaxy A70s and Realme X2 feature an AMOLED display, Redmi Note 8 Pro has a classic IPS panel, so it loses this comparison. Samsung Galaxy A70s shows richer colors and, just like the Realme X2, it has an in-display fingerprint reader. The Galaxy A70s also comes with a slightly taller aspect ratio (20:9) which makes it even more interesting. If I had to choose depending on the display, I would go for the Galaxy A70s.

If we only talk about CPU and GPU performance, then the Helio G90T chipset found on the Redmi Note 8 Pro is the best mobile platform here, even though it looks just slightly more powerful than the Snapdragon 730G found on the Realme X2. But if we also consider the energy consumption, then Snapdragon 730G wins as it is built with a more efficient 8 nm production process (against 12 nm). Redmi Note 8 Pro debuted as a gaming-centric phone too: indeed, it even features an advanced liquid cooling system. The Galaxy A70s is the most inferior one as it comes with a lower-end Snapdragon 675 SoC.

Camera

In terms of photo quality, at least judging from the specs on the paper, we believe that Samsung Galaxy A70s will be slightly better, especially when it comes to selfies, thanks to their 32 MP cameras. Between Galaxy A70s and Realme X2, the latter provides richer hardware since it sports an additional dedicated macro camera. But this does not mean it will be a better camera phone: once we tested both the algorithms, we can let you know. But given that they debuted a few days ago, we can not give you the most detailed information.

Battery

Both Samsung Galaxy A70s and Redmi Note 8 Pro feature a bigger 4500 mAh battery than Realme X2. But given that the chipset of the Redmi Note 8 Pro (and the display too) is less efficient than the Snapdragon 675, the Galaxy A70s should provide a longer battery life. Realme X2 is even more efficient than Galaxy A70s, but we doubt that its 4000 mAh battery will reach Galaxy A70’s level.

Price

You can grab a unit of the Redmi Note 8 Pro on the global market for just €250/$275, Realme X2 starts from just €210/$230 in Asia, and Samsung Galaxy A70s will carry a €380/$415 starting price. At these prices, Realme X2 looks like the most balanced value for money phone.

The LG Q60 (LMX525ZAW) has a price tag of ₹15,000 (~$212), much cheaper than the price in Korea (KRW 349,800/$290).

That price gets you a phone with a 6.26-inch HD+ IPS FullVision display with a U-notch. The LG Q60 packs triple rear cameras – a 5MP 120° Super Wide-Angle Camera, a 16MP main camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The camera app packs features such as AI CAM which brings object recognition and automatically and accurately selects the best settings, Flash Jump Cut, Gesture Shot, and also has a YouTube Live button, so you can begin streaming right away. It has a 13MP selfie camera.

The phone is powered by the Helio P22 chipset and paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The LG Q60 is MLT:STD 810G certified, so it will survive high and low temperatures, vibrations and shocks.

The phone has a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left side. You can press once to wake, double press to see your day’s snapshot, and long press to enter Walkie Talkie Google Assistant Input mode. There is also DTS:X 3D Surround Sound.

UMIDIGI F2 is the best budget smartphone carrying punch-hole quad camera

Every season we see new smartphones powered with new innovative features. Due to immense competition in the industry, UMIDIGI has also launched the successor to F1 i.e UMIDIGI F2 last week. It carries outstanding spec sheet with the dedicated punch-hole Quad camera at affordable pricing.

umidigi F2

To match the ongoing trend of powerful cameras and high-end displays, UMIDIGI F2 has been launched on September 23rd with a 6.53-inch FHD+ FullView display. There’s a 32-MP front-facing camera embedded in the punch-hole display on the top-left corner. It packs the same front sensor which is also present on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. The camera is carved by utilizing accurate laser cutting technology to cut-out the upper corner.

Such a premium work to precisely fit on the front-camera is done to prevent camera blockage which can degrade the picture quality.

Other specifications include a 48MP ultra-wide macro quad camera, an ultra-wide camera, a macro camera, and a depth camera. UMIDIGI F2 is powered with Helio P70 SoC and coupled with a 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. You’ll also get NFC for wireless payments and runs on latest stock Android 10.

The UMIDIGI F2 global sale will commence on October 14 on Aliexpress. It is expected to retail for $250. There will be a launch promotion at a lower price for the users who have added it to the cart at UMIDIGI Official Store on Aliexpress. We suggest the interested users add it to the cart to get additional discounts.

The users who are looking to get it for free can enter the big giveaway. More details about the device can be seen at the.

Alleged Honor V30 display sports pill-shaped punch hole

The Honor V30/Vera30 is an upcoming Honor flagship that will be powered by the new Kirin 990 5G processor. There should also be a non-5G version with the Kirin 990 inside. Ahead of the launch date which is still unknown, a photo showing what is said to be the phone’s display has surfaced on Weibo.

The Honor V30 is shown to have a display with very thin bezels. In addition to that, the screen has a punch hole. However, this is not like the one in its Honor 20 series but a pill-shaped one like that of the Samsung Galaxy S10+.

Honor V30

The punch hole houses two cameras but differs from that of the Galaxy S10+ with its position. Honor has decided to place it on the top left corner of the display instead of the right corner.

The display type is not known but we hope Honor makes the switch to AMOLED for its V-series flagship. If it is an AMOLED screen, then we can expect an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Honor V20 launched in December last year. If Honor decides to stick to that schedule, then we still have a couple of months of waiting before the Honor V30 arrives.

Pixel 4’s Motion Sense will work in these countries and with these apps

When the Pixel 4 launches on October 15, it will come with a feature called Motion Sense. Motion Sense will allow users to control the device without touching it, thanks to the Soli Radar sensor buried in the top bezel.

However, it has been revealed that the feature will only in certain markets. A list of countries where it will work in has been released as well as a list of supported countries. Before we get to the lists, it is important to state why Motion Sense is available in some markets and not others.

Pixel 4 Sensors

Motion Sense is based on Project Soli, a technology that uses advanced radar technology. Therefore, Google has to be granted permission to use this technology in countries including the United States. So these countries were the feature will be supported can be said to be those that have granted Google permission.

The list of countries was obtained from the Motion Sense app by Nextrift, a Malaysian tech blog that has got its hands on a unit.

Countries/Territories with support for Motion Sense

  • American Samoa
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Canada
  • Croatia

  • Czechia
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany

  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan

  • United States
  • Virgin Islands, U.S.

The list of countries may increase at launch or post-launch. Notable countries not on the list are China (not surprising), India, Japan, and Mexico. There is also no African or Middle-Eastern Country on the list.

For the apps that support Motion Sense, the list is populated by streaming and playback apps. We definitely hope Motion Sense does more than just change tracks.

  • Amazon Music
  • Deezer
  • Google Play Music
  • iHeartRadio
  • Pandora
  • Spotify
  • Spotify Stations
  • YouTube Music
  • YouTube

The Pixel 4 duo will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor, 90Hz displays, Titan M Security, and FaceID. They will run Android 10 out of the box with exclusive and new software features. be available in Just Black, Oh So Orange, and Clearly White.

Non-contact gesture control is not a new feature in the mobile industry. A number of Chinese phones including Doogee have offered them on phones in the past though they are definitely not as advanced as the Pixel 4’s Motion Sense.

Earlier his year, LG announced something similar called Air Motion which is available on the LG G8 ThinQ which allows you to not control playback but also control volume with a gesture similar to you turning a knob. You can also take screenshots with a pinch gesture.

Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro also has a similar feature allowing you to swipe to scroll and make a grab-gesture to take a screenshot.

Huawei Wallet’s Auto Card Selection will make payments extremely easy on the Mate 30 Pro

Smartphones have basically replaced most of your access and credit cards, especially in China. You can simply open the designated app on your phone to make shopping payments, unlock doors, buy tickets for transportation, and so on. Physical identity cards have also been replaced by virtual e-ID cards on your phone. And Huawei Wallet’s auto card selection makes this process extremely easy on your phone. Huawei Wallet automatic card selection

Traditionally, you would have had to manually select the appropriate card while making payments or buying a ticket for transportation. But Huawei Wallet’s auto card selection feature launched alongside the Mate 30 Pro can automatically identify the appropriate card according to the situation.

All you have to do is open the Huawei Wallet app and place your smartphone close to the scanner. The Wallet app will automatically select the appropriate card at the time of use. For example, if you are at a subway station, you can simply open the Huawei Wallet app and it will automatically select your subway card to purchase a ticket. Similarly, if you are at the supermarket about to make a payment, it can automatically select one of your credit cards (already added to the app) to make the payment. In short, you don’t have to individually select the card each time you use your phone for payment or authorization.

Huawei Mate 30 Pro featured 02

It’s a really cool feature especially if you live in a country like China where you can practically do anything using your smartphone. However, it remains to be seen if this feature is made available internationally.
