Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 vs Dimensity 9400e: Key differences you should know

CPU, GPU & NPU

Both chipsets are built on TSMC’s 4nm process and use the ARMv9.2 architecture, but their CPU configurations differ. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 has one Cortex-X4 core and seven Cortex-A720 cores, while the Dimensity 9400e uses four Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores.

Since Cortex-X4 is more powerful and efficient than Cortex-A720 and that Dimensity 9400e has more of it, it’s able to outperform the Snapdragon chip’s CPU on multiple benchmarks. However, it’s the other way around for the GPU, as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4’s Adreno 825 offers a more reliable and consistent gaming performance than the Immortalis-G720 GPU on the Dimensity 9400e.

The chips also feature NPUs for on-device AI capabilities. The Snapdragon chip has a hexagon NPU that’s 44% faster and has 2x larger shared memory than its predecessor. MediaTek’s NPU 790 brings support for generative AI and popular large language models (LLMs).

Camera and Imaging

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 features a Qualcomm Spectra 18-bit triple ISP, supporting up to 320MP resolution and 4K video recording. Additionally, it supports real-time semantic segmentation for photos and videos with up to 250 layers for precise optimizations.

The Dimensity 9400e matches 320MP camera support but goes further with 8K video recording. Both chipsets come with a range of camera features for enhanced output.

Connectivity

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset is equipped with an X75 5G modem that allows 4.2Gbps of maximum download speed. Over a Wi-Fi 7 connection, it can download stuff at a peak speed of 5.8Gbps. The Dimensity 9400e goes further by offering higher download speeds — 7Gbps on 5G and 7.3Gbps over Wi-Fi 7.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 vs Dimensity 9400e: which is a better choice?

Both the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400e are impressive flagship-tier chipsets, offering excellent performance, AI capabilities, and connectivity features. However, they take different approaches to get there.

The Dimensity 9400e consistently delivers stronger CPU performance across both AnTuTu and Geekbench, thanks to its more aggressive all-big-core setup with four Cortex-X4 cores. That makes it a better pick for power users who rely on raw CPU speed and multitasking. Plus, it also offers higher download speeds over Wi-Fi and 5G connections.

In contrast, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 shines in GPU performance, which gives it an edge in gaming scenarios. It also features Qualcomm’s excellent camera and AI stack, making it a well-rounded option for creators and gamers alike.

If faster CPU and next-gen 5G speeds are the top priorities, the Dimensity 9400e takes the lead. But if gaming, GPU stability, and Qualcomm’s software optimizations are at the top of your list, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 remains a strong contender.

HUAWEI FreeBuds 6 Review: Finally, Semi-open Earbuds Deliver Decent Bass with True ANC

Introduction

Huawei launched the FreeBuds 6 in March. We apologize for the delay in this review. We have recently reviewed many earbuds, and the reason we recommend the Freebuds 6 is not only due to the wearing experience of these semi-open earbuds. After using them, we found that it is indeed different from traditional semi-open earbuds.

Traditional semi-open earbuds often have some shortcomings in sound quality and noise cancellation. However, the Huawei FreeBuds 6 attempts to break these limitations. This time, the all-around upgraded audio and noise-cancellation capability may bring you a different experience…

Packaging and Design

The charging case is in a round and smooth pebble shape, which is vertically slender; it is small and easy to carry. The case has a matte texture on the outside, providing a comfortable feel and effectively reducing fingerprints and dirt. The device features an LED indicator light on the front to display the charging status and a USB-C interface at the bottom.

The unique appearance design makes FreeBuds 6 stand out among many earbuds and shows a fashionable and elegant temperament. Design makes FreeBuds 6 stand out among many earbuds, showcasing.

The earbuds continue the waterdrop shape from the previous generation. However, the size of the ear rod has been reduced by 12%, and the weight of each earbud has been reduced by 9%, to only 4.95 grams.

It fits more closely to the ear canal curve. The earbuds are available in black, white, and purple. If you do not like the white one in my hand, you can also choose purple; it presents a unique gradient effect in the light, which is very fashionable. The earbud handle is short and wide at the bottom, and the outside is the touch control area, which is convenient to operate.

Sound Quality and Effects

What is particularly special this time is that Huawei FreeBuds 6 combines an 11mm dual-magnetic low-frequency unit with an ultra-high-frequency micro-plane high-frequency unit. This dual-unit design is relatively rare in semi-open earbuds. What kind of changes will this bring? Let’s first take a look at its frequency response curve.

The high-frequency is clear and gorgeous, the low-frequency has an atmospheric feeling but is not flat enough, and the mid-frequency has a timbre. However, the frequency response curve is provided for reference only. More importantly, it is the actual listening experience. Of course, we also want to know what the actual performance will be like if we compare it with AirPods 4.

In terms of mid-high frequency, thanks to the ultra-high-frequency micro-plane unit, the resolution is outstanding. When playing classical music, the high-frequency parts of instruments such as violins and pianos are clear and bright, and can clearly show the timbre characteristics and performance details of the instruments. Especially in vocal performance, FreeBuds 6 have an excellent performance. The singer’s vocal timbre has a high degree of reproduction, and the emotional expression is rich.

However, the shortcomings of the low-frequency part are also obvious. Although the 11mm dual-magnetic low-frequency unit can provide a certain degree of sub-bass depth, compared with some earbuds that focus on heavy bass, the quantity is slightly insufficient. However, through Huawei’s self-developed acoustic algorithm, the low-frequency has been optimized. Listening to pop music can also provide a good sense of rhythm. – What do you think?

In addition, FreeBuds 6 uses “sound field reconstruction technology” to make the sound field more open. In the app, we can choose three different spatial effects. When you are listening to music, you can feel a richer sense of space. At the same time, the earbuds support 2.3 Mbps lossless transmission. Combined with Huawei’s unique tuning technology, it can bring you a high-quality music experience.

Noise Cancellation

Huawei FreeBuds 6 adopts hybrid active noise cancellation technology, with a maximum noise cancellation depth of up to 45 dB. The earbuds come with multiple microphones, which, in combination with Huawei’s self-developed frequency division noise cancellation algorithm, can not only effectively isolate low-frequency noise, but also have a good filtering effect on high-frequency noise such as keyboard tapping and human voices. In an office environment, it can effectively isolate keyboard sounds and conversation sounds, providing users with a relatively quiet working environment.

When noise cancellation is turned on, the ear pressure control of FreeBuds 6 is relatively good. However, when the maximum noise cancellation level is turned on, I still feel a certain ear pressure.

Functions

The Huawei FreeBuds 6 rely on the HarmonyOS system and feature a range of powerful smart functions. The earbuds support the Near Link quick find feature. Even if the earbuds are lost in a multi-floor building, such as a large shopping mall, they can be found more accurately.

In addition, the earbuds also support 95dB call noise cancellation, which can ensure clear voice quality in noisy environments. If you are a Huawei phone user, congratulations! When used with a Huawei phone, you can enjoy exclusive sound effect optimization for free, further improving the sound quality experience.

Experience and Battery Life

To me, the battery life of the earbuds indeed needs improvement. When I listen to music with noise cancellation on, the earbuds last about 4 and a half hours and only 24 hours with the charging case. Since I have often used noise cancellation for a long time, such battery life is not enough for me. I need to recharge it again, which I find inconvenient. However, there is “fast charging.”

It supports 88W super-fast charging, and a 5-minute charge can provide 1.5 hours of use for the earbuds. Emergency recharging is quite convenient.

Conclusion

If you are a Huawei phone user or an Android user, and you value the smart features of the earbuds, such as Near Link find and AI real-time translation, as well as having high requirements for mid-high frequency and vocal performance in sound quality, then Huawei FreeBuds 6 would be a really good choice, especially at its current price(Aprox. $159.00).

Honor’s 10,000mAh battery phone could be in works

Honor made headlines earlier this year by launching the Honor Power, the first mainstream smartphone with an 8,000mAh battery. Building on that momentum, the brand unveiled the Honor X70 with an even larger 8,300mAh battery earlier this month. Now, a new leak suggests Honor could be working on a phone with a massive 10,000mAh battery.

Even the base Redmi K90 could pack a 50MP telephoto and 7000mAh battery

Redmi’s K90 series has been in the rumor mill for a while now. The phones are expected to launch sometime in October, and based on a new leak, it looks like Xiaomi is preparing for a major overhaul, especially for the base model.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, all models in the Redmi K90 series will include a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. On the K80 series, only the Pro model features a telephoto lens. The regular and Ultra variants were limited to wide and ultrawide setups.

The display is also getting reworked. The tipster mentions a “customized new screen” with a “large R angle,” which likely means more rounded corners and a refined front design.

Xiaomi is also said to be using a new base material for the panel, although it’s unclear what impact that will have on display quality or durability. You can also expect a continued focus on OLED, high refresh rates, and high brightness, in line with K80 standards.

More interestingly, the leak claims that all K90 models will come with symmetrical dual speakers, a metal middle frame, and an upgraded 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.. The K80 series already featured under-display ultrasonic sensors, but the new setup could offer faster or more reliable unlocking.

Redmi K80 Ultra
Redmi K80 Ultra

The K90 phones are also expected to carry large 7000mAh-class batteries and support 100W wired charging. That would be a boost over the 6550mAh/90W setup on the K80 and align with the 7410mAh/100W spec seen on the K80 Ultra. IP68 water resistance is also sticking around for the full lineup.

What’s clear from the leak is that the biggest shift could come to the base K90 model. Unlike the K80, which had to compromise on the telephoto lens and a few other high-end specs, the K90 might offer a flagship-grade experience even at the entry level, at least on paper.

The charger supports a wide voltage input (100–240V) and multiple output profiles, including 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 11V/6.1A Max, 21V/4.75A Max, and 20V/5A, reaching a maximum output of 100W. It is also backwards compatible with 67W and 90W charging standards.

The Redmi K80 Ultra, which debuted recently in China, supports 100W charging. However, it ships with a 120W charger. The Xiaomi 16 series phones could be the company’s first smartphones to support 100W charging using a 100W power brick.

Xiaomi has previously released a 100W GaN laptop charger with the model number MDY-16-EL, which is compatible with 100W PD and 100W private protocol fast charging. However, that charging head is primarily designed for laptops.

Xiaomi 16 series may ship with the new 100W charger

According to leaks, the new 100W power brick is being prepared for the Xiaomi 16 series, suggesting the flagship phones may debut with this charger in the box or as a bundled accessory. It is being said that the goal behind launching this new charger is to fully charge a 7,000mAh battery within one hour.

For those who don’t know, the Xiaomi 16 series is expected to feature a battery of around 7,000mAh capacity. There is also a possibility that the Xiaomi 16 Pro may pack a 7,500mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 16 may house a 7,000mAh battery.

Alleged OnePlus Pad 3 Mini, a compact tablet with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, may debut with OnePlus 15T

OnePlus is expected to unveil the OnePlus 15, the next-generation flagship phone, in October this year in China. By the end of this year, the company may unveil the OnePlus Ace 6 series of performance-centric phones for the market. Next year, the brand is expected to announce the OnePlus 15T, a compact flagship phone as a successor to this year’s OnePlus 13T. A new leak by tipster Digital Chat Station reveals that the brand may also announce a compact tablet alongside the 15T.

Alleged OnePlus Pad 3 Mini leak by DCS

According to the tipster, the Ouga group, which includes Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme brands, will launch a compact tablet alongside a 6.3-inch phone. While he did not go into the specifics of revealing the name of the brand and the devices, it appears that the tipster is hinting that OnePlus’ first compact tablet will break cover alongside the OnePlus 15T.

According to his post, current prototypes of the alleged OnePlus Pad 3 Mini are being tested with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850) platform. DCS concludes by claiming that these products will be officially revealed in the first half of next year.

Early rumours surrounding the OnePlus 15T suggest that the device will continue to feature a 6.3-inch OLED panel equipped with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor instead of an optical type. Its rear camera setup may include a primary snapper, an ultra-wide lens, and a periscope telephoto camera.

The OnePlus 15T, despite being a compact phone, may pack a behemoth 7000mAh battery. The device is also expected to support wireless charging, a feature that’s absent on the OnePlus 13T.

Apart from the OnePlus 15T, a couple of more compact flagship phones are said to be in the works. While the Xiaomi 16 series offering and Vivo X300 are expected to go official later this year, the first half of 2026 may also see the arrival of the Oppo Find X9s and Honor Magic 8 Mini compact phones.

Casio Adds Full-Metal G-Shock GMW-B5000D and GM-B2100SD to US Lineup

Casio has released two new all-metal G-Shock watches in the US: the GMW-B5000D-1C and the GM-B2100SD-1C. Both models are based on classic G-Shock designs and are made in Japan at Casio’s Yamagata factory.

From left: GM-B2100SD-1C, GMW-B5000D-1C

The GMW-B5000D-1C follows the original DW-5000C. It features the same brick pattern, “SHOCK RESIST” logo, and layout. The watch has a full-metal body with a stainless-steel bezel and case. Fine resin buffers are placed between the bezel and case to absorb impact. A three-pronged lug design helps spread shocks across the connecting pipes. The case back uses a screw-lock structure for a tight seal. It supports solar-powered timekeeping and comes with Bluetooth and radio control for better accuracy. The Super Illuminator ensures visibility in the dark.

The GM-B2100SD-1C has a black dial with red, yellow, and blue accents. These colors are taken from the first G-Shock, symbolizing shock resistance, water resistance, and boldness. The watch has an octagonal bezel and a finely textured dial with grind-mark finishing and vapor deposition. Like the 5000 series, it also includes fine resin buffers between the bezel and case, a three-pronged band structure, and a screw-lock case back.

Both models use a forging, cutting, and polishing process to shape the bezel and case. The bezel top has a brushed finish, and the beveled edges are polished for contrast. The metal bands feature dimples to match the look of the original resin bands.

Pricing & availability

The GMW-B5000D-1C and GM-B2100SD-1C are priced at $550 each and are available now on Casio USA’s website.

HMD Crest 2 and Bold leaks with entry-level Unisoc silicon, up to 8GB of RAM

HMD appears to be gearing up for a wave of new budget smartphones. While the Pulse 2 series is reportedly in the works, a fresh leak from trusted HMD tipster HMD MEME’S points to two more devices on the horizon. Codenamed “MAHUZE” and “ACCORD,” the phones are expected to launch as the HMD Bold and HMD Crest 2, respectively.

Both are powered by a Unisoc chipset

Let’s start with the more powerful of the two. The HMD Crest 2 (or ACCORD internally) will be powered by the Unisoc T8300 5G chipset. That’s an octa-core processor built on TSMC’s 6nm process, featuring a 2+6 core setup.

The prime is two Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz, while the SoC has six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz for efficiency.

In performance tests, the HMD Crest 2 scored 743 on Geekbench’s single-core benchmark and 2285 in multi-core, decent numbers for a budget 5G phone. It’s expected to come with 4GB, 6GB, or even 8GB of RAM, depending on the configuration.

HMD Crest 2 (Accord) Geekbench

On the other side is the HMD Bold. It is rumored to be powered by Unisoc T7250, an entry-level chipset that still brings respectable specs. It features two Cortex-A75 cores at 1.8GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.6GHz, manufactured on TSMC’s 12nm FinFET process. The Bold is expected to come in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants.

There is no official word yet on the release date or pricing, but if the leak from HMD MEME’S is anything to go by, these phones could land soon. We will keep you in the loop if we get any new details about them.

HMD Pulse 2 series leak reveals three budget phones with Unisoc chipset and 50MP cameras

HMD seems to be expanding its lineup with three new phones under the Pulse 2 name: the Pulse 2, Pulse 2 Plus, and Pulse 2 Pro. According to a new leak, the trio will ship with Android 15 out of the box and target the budget segment, featuring modest hardware, Unisoc chipsets, and up to 50MP cameras.

Let’s start with the base model. The HMD Pulse 2 reportedly features a 6.67-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Powering the phone could be a Unisoc T7200 chip paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. The camera setup is said to include a 13MP main sensor paired with a depth sensor on the back, and an 8MP selfie camera.

HMD Pulse
HMD Pulse

The Pulse 2 Plus will retain the same display and Unisoc T7200 chip, but upgrade the main rear camera to 50MP, which should enhance detail in photos (assuming the sensor and software perform well). Memory options expand to 6GB, and storage remains the same: 64GB or 128GB.

Pulse 2 Pro might come with better cameras, but still an LCD panel

At the top of the line is the HMD Pulse 2 Pro, which gets a few more meaningful upgrades. It swaps in a 6.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a smoother 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by the newer Unisoc T7250 SoC.

HMD-Pulse-2-Pro-render

The rear camera setup adds a macro sensor alongside the 50MP main shooter and a depth sensor, while the front gets an unexpected 50MP camera. You also get more RAM (6GB or 8GB), up to 256GB of storage, and 20W fast charging support.

As mentioned earlier, all three phones will ship with Android 15. No word yet on pricing or release dates, but if the specs hold up, HMD might have a few compelling low-cost Android options on the way.
