On the top side, Huawei has added its own branding with four physical buttons: mute, +, -, and a call button. The company has partnered with Dynaudio to use its tech in its AI speaker. It carries 2.25-inch high-fidelity hardware with a 10-watt speaker. Further, Huawei has added a “Histen” algorithm to improve its sound performance.

Its voice operation is similar to somewhat that of Google Assistant. It can distinguish between different voices, which helps the users to interact in a more dynamic way. Huawei has focused to build a “smart” product rather than just a “speaker.”

OnePlus is rolling out a new update to the OnePlus 5 and 5T devices. The latest firmware brings many new changes including few bug fixes and new features. Majorly, OnePlus has added support of Project Treble for both the OnePlus 5 and 5T. Aside from new features, OnePlus has also added October Security Patch 2018 with several security improvement and measures. In total, there are 26 fixes for vulnerabilities found in the Android operating system.

China mocks US over claims of iPhone tapping, suggests Trump use a Huawei phone

An explosive report carried by the New York Times had claimed Russian and Chinese spies may have been eavesdropping on calls made by U.S President Donald Trump’s unsecured iPhone. The thing is, Trump has three iPhones, two secured ones and a third which is just like the iPhone in use by ordinary users. It is reported that he prefers the unsecured iPhone because it allows him to save personal contacts. But U.S intelligence officials fear Russia and China spies could listen to Mr Trump’s conversation over the unsecured iPhone and has advised him to use the secured White House line instead. Mr Trump isn’t likely to heed that advise so it is hoped that he doesn’t discuss classified information over the unsecured iPhone.

Design

As it is the pioneer of pop up cameras and motorized parts alongside Vivo NEX S, Oppo Find X takes the award for the design. It boasts the highest screen-to-body ratio and, given that even the rear cameras are included in the popup slider (unlike the Mi Mix 3) and the fingerprint reader is embedded in the display, when the slider is closed the back looks totally clean. And it is even available in gradient colors, so it is definitely the most original and beautiful phone of the trio. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 comes at the second place with its manually-openable slider.

 

Display

The display with the most stunning viewing quality belongs to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, despite it has a big notch which houses the front camera as well as a hardware sensor for 3D facial recognition. Indeed, it has the highest resolution with 1440 x 3120 pixels, so the highest level of detail. Further, it has both DCI-P3 coverage and the HDR technology. At least basing on the specs on the paper, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 should be at the second place as it supports the HDR technology as well.

At the second place, there is Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, while the rear camera Oppo Find X is definitely inferior to its opponents.

 

Battery

Huawei Mate 20 Pro has the biggest battery ever seen on the most important flagship of a mainstream company, with a capacity of 4200 mAh. And even though it has a huge capacity, it is able to charge up to 70 percent in just 30 minutes. Further, it supports Qi wireless charging which is fast as well, even though not as fast as the standard charging through the USB-C port. But on the other hand, it supports reverse charging wirelessly, so it can charge other devices just by sticking to them. With its capacity of 3750 mAh, Oppo Find X takes the second place in the battery life ranking, while Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has an above-average capacity of 3200 mAh and it will surely not be able to compete with its opponents in terms of battery life.

 

Price

The price is the balance needle as it differs a lot between these devices. Given that Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is still not in the global market, we will refer to the Chinese prices for it. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 starts from just $474/€420, Huawei Mate 20 Pro costs $1192/€1050 in the global market and Oppo Find X was launched internationally with a price tag of $1135/€1000. With these prices, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is the phone with the best value for money, but if you do not mind about price, note that Huawei Mate 20 Pro is currently the best Chinese smartphone.

Huawei tackles Apple and Samsung in a cheeky tweet, says it would “never” slow down phones

The top three highest-ranking smartphone brands in terms of market share are Samsung, Apple and Huawei in that order. That isn’t likely to change anytime soon instead, all three are trying very hard to outwit the competition. Thus, it is not surprising that the three companies often troll each other. We have seen Huawei troll Apple recently by sharing power banks to fans queuing to buy the latest iPhone Xs in Singapore. The gesture was accompanied with a cheeky note – “You’ll need it”. This is apparently in reference to the poor battery life of iPhones. During the Mate 20 series launch, Huawei also trolled Apple in its Mate 20 Pro presentation by displaying an image of a Mate 20 Pro charging an iPhone XS Max through the new reverse wireless charging feature.

Huawei has again thrown another shot, this time at both rivals Samsung and Apple. Both smartphone giants were fined a combined fee of $17.06 million (€15 million) by the Italian Competition Authority. The fine was as a result of an investigation which revealed that both companies forced updates on users which slowed down older hardware. This makes the owners most likely upgrade to a newer smartphone. Apple had faced a similar controversy late last year where it was revealed that it slows down phones with old batteries to prevent an unexpected shutdown. As at then, Samsung denied doing anything of such. However, the Italian Competition Authority found out otherwise and slammed a fine on both tech giants.

Huawei isn’t letting this golden opportunity to demarket its rivals go by. The company took to Twitter to share a tweet on the Huawei UK Twitter account promoting the latest Mate 20 Pro.  The company claims it will never slow down its phones or force an upgrade. It also claims the Mate 20 Pro won’t slow down just like other phones in its range of smartphones. The tweet also comes with the hashtags #BornFastStaysFast and #NeverSlowDown. Huawei has had its own fair share of controversy, the latest being the “BenchmarkGate” where it was discovered Huawei phones detect benchmark apps by name and speed up performance for better scores. So, they could as well have a good laugh while it lasts.

Xiaomi announces Survival Game: Fortnite-like Battle Royale game for Android, Enters Closed Beta soon

Battle Royale games have taken smartphones by storm in the past one year. Games like PUBG, Fornite have garnered tremendous popularity among smartphone users and it was only a matter of time when other tech giants decided to get their hands dirty in this flourishing market. This time, we are getting a new battle royale game from Xiaomi and its called the Survival Game. The company made the announcement recently via its forums and even started taking applications for its closed beta.

The idea is very similar to popular games like PUBG (New Halloween themed Update). The Survival Game starts off with a lot of players competing against each other. The last player standing is the winner. The game has a lot of sci-fi elements to please the nerd in you and features like the ability to fly for each character is bound to make the game interesting. Xiaomi explained the game as follows:

Each match starts with players flying from the spaceship onto a map area. Players could decide when and where to land on the battlefield. All resources are searched and retrieved from the map, and players can fight with their competitors at any time. The last one standing will be the winner!

Xiaomi’s new battle royale game is said to be optimized on multiple levels. This likely means that the game is being tested on different smartphones in the market today to ensure smooth gameplay. However, the company is yet to reveal support for a specific set of devices. Since we are just entering the closed beta stage, expect at least a few weeks until you hear more about a near commercial release.

The forum post comes with a few preview screenshot of the game. It’s hard to say whether Survival Game could compete with the likes of PUBG or even Fortnite, but coming from a brand like Xiaomi, we do expect some interesting gameplay features and options. Xiaomi was accepting applications for its closed beta test but that period seems to be over. The provided google form has stopped accepting responses which likely means that they have reached a sufficient number of applications well before its deadline.

OPPO A7 full specifications, pricing and release date for China leaked

The Oppo PBFM00 smartphone has now appeared on China Telecom website with OPPO A7 moniker. The listing has also not only confirmed the entire specifications, but also the pricing and release date of the smartphone.

According to the China Telecom listing of the OPPO A7 smartphone will be releasing in China on Nov. 13 with a price tag of 1,599 Yuan (~$230). The handset is equipped with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. It will be available in colors like Amber Gold and Fresh Pink. The TENAA listing of PBFM00 model had revealed that the phone would be also available in Blue. A variant of the same phone with model number OPPO PBFT00 was also spotted on TENAA. The OPPO A7 features a 6.2-inch IPS LCD screen. The waterdrop notch display offers HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. Following is a press render of the phone that had surfaced earlier in this week.

The Snapdragon 450 chipset is present under the hood of the device and it is packed with a 4,230mAh battery. The OPPO A7 is fitted with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

For photography, the OPPO A7 is fitted with a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel and a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup. It is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. The other features of the OPPO A7 include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and3.5mm audio jack. The handset measures 155.9x 75.4 x 8.1mm and weighs 158 grams.

Huawei didn’t announce Mate 20 Pro’s DXOMark Score because it was too high!

Huawei today unveiled the Mate 20 series for the Chinese market in a ceremony held in Shanghai. Recall that the Mate 20 series were first launched in London a couple of weeks back but is making its debut in Huawei’s home country. It has become sort of a tradition that DXOMark’s review of a flagship model’s camera is released about the same time the phone is announced. During the launch, Huawei did reveal that it has no plan to release the DXOMark score of any of the Mate 20 series models. That is because their camera benchmark scores by DXOMark’s are all extremely high! Can you beat that? Apparently, the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20X and Mate 20 Porsche design all have powerful camera setup. Among the lot, the Mate 20 Pro obviously should be the most powerful with its triple rear cameras consisting of a 40-megapixel + 20-megapixel + 8-megapixel triple camera setup. We may never know how they performed on DXOMark’s independent review. Huawei says it doesn’t want to court unnecessary publicity but we’re certain someday the company will release the score as a marketing tool.

So, as it stands, Huawei’s flagship P20 Pro still stands as DXOMark’s highest rated smartphone with an overall score of 109. This is followed by Apple’s latest flagship iPhone XS Max with 105 points. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 which made its debut yesterday comes in at third with a score of 103 points. The Mi Mix 3 edged Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to occupy the third spot.

Details about Samsung Galaxy S10 models and foldable smartphone emerges

Ahead of the announcement of Samsung‘s upcoming flagship smartphone — Galaxy S10, details started emerging online related to the phone’s features. Now, Bloomberg has a detailed report related to the South Korean giant’s game-plan for premium smartphones next year.

As per the report, the company is gearing up to launch a 5G-capable smartphone, a cheaper model of its flagship phone, and a phone with foldable display. Such move from the company is reportedly to challenge Apple and other China-based manufacturers.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Display

For its 5G-compatible smartphone, the company is reportedly in talks with Verizon Communications Inc. to launch its Galaxy S10 in the U.S. The company is trying to secure support from the biggest U.S. carrier to popularize the 5G technology, which is designed to transfer data dozens of times faster than the 4G technology.

Also, Samsung is said to launch three models of its upcoming flagship smartphone. One of the model will be a cheaper version, which will appeal to the wide range of customers. The report adds that the company has overcome a years-long challenge and will embed an in-display fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S10.

The standard Samsung Galaxy S10, codenamed “Beyond”, will feature a 5.8-inch OLED display curved on both sides, round corners, and almost no bezels at the top and bottom. As for the camera, it’ll come with a triple-camera setup on the back, similar to what it offered with Galaxy A7.

The company is also reportedly working on a “Plus” version of Galaxy S10 for the next year. Als0, the cheaper model will lack the “edge” screen and could also have the traditional fingerprint sensor instead of the in-display one as a cost-cutting measure.

Samsung’s smartphone with a foldable display is codenamed “Winner” and has been in development for years. As per the report, the company is debating between two prototypes in the final stretch: one longer horizontally and the other vertically when unfolded, while both open from side and side.

It’ll have the standard fingerprint sensor and not in-display one as S10 due to technical difficulties. The prototype of foldable display smartphone weighs more than 200 grams, thus, expect a smaller capacity battery from the company to make the phone light-weight.

The report further adds that Samsung and Google are working on developing a special version of the Android operating software for the phone. As for the software of Galaxy S10, the phone will be running Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box.

 

 

While the Galaxy S10 is expected to launch in March 2019, the report suggests that the smartphone with a foldable display may not be able to launch it commercially until the second quarter of 2019.

After launching Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and its other variants in the global market, Huawei is back to its home. Today, at a launch event in Beijing, China, Huawei has announced the all-new Mate 20 series in its home country. All the new devices carry the same specs and features in China. Huawei Mate 20 is available at the starting price of 3999 Yuan for Huawei Mate 20 with 6GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage.

All these Mate 20 series devices will be made available on October 26th starting 18:08 Beijing Time except the Mate 20 RS Porsche edition which will be made available on November 10.

Similarly, Huawei Watch GT fashion model is available for 1488 Yuan while its sports model is going for 1288 Yuan. It will go on sale on November 10 starting at 10:08 Beijing time.

Huawei AI speaker will go on sale for 399 Yuan on November 1. All other devices such as Children Watch 3 Pro (988 Yuan), Coffee Storage (699 Yuan), wireless charger (99Yuan) and car charger (199Yuan) will be on sale from October 26.

Vivo V9 Pro 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage edition likely to release in India on November 1

In September, Vivo had introduced the Vivo V9 Pro smartphone with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage in India. Fresh information shared by 91 Mobiles reveals that the Chinese manufacturer may debut a new variant of the smartphone on Nov. 1 in India. The speculated 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant of the Vivo V9 Pro is expected to be available for buying exclusively through Flipkart.

The 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant of the Vivo V9 Pro was introduced with a price tag of Rs. 19,990 (~$272) in India last month. Currently, it is selling with a discounted price of Rs. 17,990 (~$245) in the country and it can be availed exclusively through Amazon India. The publication claims that the upcoming Flipkart-exclusive 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage edition of the phone would be costing Rs. 15,990 (~$218).

The forthcoming 4 GB RAM variant of the Vivo V9 Pro will have the same specs as its 6 GB RAM model. The V9 Pro features a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display that includes a small notch. The screen carries support for 19:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution.

Through an unveil event in Shanghai, Huawei introduced the Mate 20 series of smartphones in China. The Chinese manufacturer has introduced Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design smartphones in the home country.

The Huawei Mate 20 features a 6.53-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution. It is equipped with a small-sized notch. It is equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a curved 6.39-inch AMOLED display. The larger notch houses sensors that are responsible for 3D face unlock feature.

The Mate 20 Pro has arrived in two variants in China. The first one features a regular rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The other one is called Mate 20 Pro UD where UD refers to under-display fingerprint scanner.

The Mate 20 features 12-megapixel + 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel triple camera system. It is packed with a 4,000mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging. Honor Magic 2 new renders reveal its three color gradient variants

The Honor Magic 2 will be announced on Wednesday in the coming week. Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has already shared official renders of the smartphone through which the front and rear designs of its Blue and Red color gradient versions. Fresh renders of the smartphone have surfaced through an unofficial source today. The new renders also showcase the appearance of the Silver variant besides the other color variants.

The new render of the Honor Magic 2 showcases its manual slider design. The color gradient rear of the phone features a vertically arranged triple camera unit.

The backside of the phone has ‘AI Vision” mentioned next to the triple camera unit.  The branding of the company can be seen towards the bottom of the back panel. The bezels surrounding the display of the Honor Magic 2 are quite thin which suggests that the phone will boasting an impressive screen space.

One of the images showcases the thin profile of the Magic 2 smartphone. According to the TENAA listing of the phone, the handset will be measuring 8.3mm in thickness.  A leaked video that had surfaced in the recent past had revealed that the phone would be also arriving in Black option apart from the aforementioned color models.

The Magic has already appeared on TENAA with all its specifications. The handset will be featuring the 6.39-inch AMOLED display that will offer full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. It will be arriving with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The handset will be fueled by Kirin 980 chipset. The handset will receive power from a 3,000mAh battery.

The slider of the Honor Magic 2 will be featuring a 16-megapixel front camera which will be accompanied by 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel ToF cameras that could be responsible for features like 3D facial scanning, AR and Mixed Reality.

The backside of the phone is expected to feature 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel triple camera system. The Magic 2 will be arriving with EMUI based Android 9 Pie OS. The 128 GB and 256 GB storage editions of the Magic 2 are expected to arrive with 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM. As of this writing, there are no details available on the pricing of the smartphone.
