<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On the 3DMark Wildlife Stress Test benchmark, it can be seen that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 found on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi 12S Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">12S Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> outperforms all other Android flagships in raw CPU and GPU performance, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-gt-2-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme GT 2 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k50-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi K50 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. The 8+ Gen 1 SoC however is still behind the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> A15 Bionic SoC on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-pro-max/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">iPhone 13 Pro Max</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Stability-wise, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is also a major upgrade from the 8 Gen 1, as it now can perform within the same league as 2022 flagship SoC chips like the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> A15 Bionic chipsets.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Next is the smartphone endurance test, and here is where the results get spicy, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi 12S Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> manage to dethrone Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro Max as the overall smartphone endurance champion!</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the video, it is shown the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi 12S Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">12S Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> have managed to achieve a mind-boggling 7 hours and 50 minutes, and 7 hours and 47 minutes of screen on time respectively, surpassing </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apple</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’s previously thought to be untouchable record of 7 hours and 42 minutes of screen on time. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Compared to the measly and disappointing 5 hours and 44 minutes of screen on time achieved by the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi 12 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC that has the same 4600mAh battery, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has managed to greatly improve battery life by a whopping 2 hours on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi 12S Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The SoT endurance tests consisted of mixed usage with gaming on Genshin Impact, WeChat messaging, voice calls, video calls, web browsing, TikTok and also video streaming, each task took around 30 minutes of usage until the battery was depleted. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, do note that these tests were done on China models of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi 12S Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-pro-max/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and other devices, which were running on Chinese software applications. So an endurance done on global models of these devices running on software outside of China may yield different endurance results.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Still, we now know that the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi 12S Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12s-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">12S Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> are a massive jump in terms of power efficiency and battery endurance compared to the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi 12</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> series launched back in December 2021, now they can even surpass the current flagship smartphone market leaders like the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-pro-max/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">But as people say “If you want a thing, you gotta do it yourself”, and this Chinese DIY Electronics Youtuber, </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCNqupWNNoLbV4lWQvxVQPg"><span style="font-weight: 400">Aio Technology</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, has taken the motto to the next level, as he has created himself the fully-functioning “New iPhone” that has a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a pop-up selfie camera, Touch ID and most importantly of all, no notch!</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_459347" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-459347" style="width: 1177px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-459347 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/iPhone-no-notch.jpg?x10805" alt="iPhone no notch" width="1177" height="662" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/iPhone-no-notch.jpg 1177w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/iPhone-no-notch-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/iPhone-no-notch-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/iPhone-no-notch-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/iPhone-no-notch-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/iPhone-no-notch-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/iPhone-no-notch-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1177px) 100vw, 1177px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-459347" class="wp-caption-text">The &#8220;New iPhone&#8221; with no notch next to the iPhone 13 Mini</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">What makes this achievement more astounding is that the “New iPhone” that he had created features the same <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/">Apple</a> A15 Bionic SoC with 5G connectivity found on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-13-mini/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPhone 13</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> series, so you are not sacrificing performance at all when using the device.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Let’s start with how he made this iPhone. The creator said that to make this “New iPhone”, he had to buy the latest generation of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-se-2022/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPhone SE (2022)</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> which was equipped with the 4.7-inch display and 5G processor that he needed for this project. Indirectly, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-se-2022/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPhone SE 3rd Generation</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> featured the Apple A15 Bionic processor paired with the 4GB RAM, which allowed the device to easily power through daily tasks with no stutters at all.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-459348" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-1.png?x10805" alt="new iphone 1" width="894" height="702" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-1.png 894w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-1-300x236.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-1-768x603.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-1-696x547.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-1-535x420.png 535w" sizes="(max-width: 894px) 100vw, 894px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As for the design of this “New iPhone”, to fully make use of the screen, the creator made a rectangular aluminium casing with minimal bezels for the LCD display panel to fit in. In pursuit of the truly bezel-less iPhone, the “New iPhone” features a flat-screen non-curved display that has top, left and right side bezels almost as thin as 1mm.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">However, he didn’t stop there, he wanted this “New iPhone” project to go even further. Since there was no more space left on the home screen for Touch ID, the creator decided to embed the fingerprint sensor into the side-mounted power button. </span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-459349" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-touch-id.png?x10805" alt="new-iphone touch id" width="948" height="699" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-touch-id.png 948w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-touch-id-300x221.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-touch-id-768x566.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-touch-id-80x60.png 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-touch-id-696x513.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-touch-id-570x420.png 570w" sizes="(max-width: 948px) 100vw, 948px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">And since there was no room for the front-facing selfie camera as well, the mad lad had even created a dedicated pop-up motor mechanism as well just to house the selfie camera!</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-459350" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-pop-up-camera.png?x10805" alt="new iphone pop up camera" width="1440" height="810" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-pop-up-camera.png 1440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-pop-up-camera-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-pop-up-camera-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-pop-up-camera-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-pop-up-camera-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-pop-up-camera-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/new-iphone-pop-up-camera-747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1440px) 100vw, 1440px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Taking the dream a step further, since he also wanted a no-compromise iPhone, he had swapped out the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-se-2022/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPhone SE 3</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">’s battery for the larger capacity one on the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-x/"><span style="font-weight: 400">iPhone X</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, and the lightning port for a USB-C port. Despite all the modifications above, the man still managed to find space left to fit a 3.5mm headphone jack and wireless charging into the “new iPhone”.</span></p>

And now, new information has further backed this information along with some other interesting details.</p>
<figure id="attachment_449948" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-449948" style="width: 603px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-449948" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="603" height="581" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-300x289.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-768x740.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-696x671.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-436x420.jpg 436w" sizes="(max-width: 603px) 100vw, 603px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-449948" class="wp-caption-text">iPhone 14 Pro</figcaption></figure>
<p>Apart from Kuo, other notable sources like Bloomberg&#8217;s Mark Gurman have also backed this claim. If its true, this would mark the first time that the Cupertino based giant divided its iPhone lineup&#8217;s chipsets since the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-5s/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 5S</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-5c/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 5C</a>. The former featured the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a7-processor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">A7</a> while the latter arrived with the older A6 chip. According to a <a href="https://www.idropnews.com/rumors/exclusive-iphone-14-a16-a16-pro-very-likely-model-pricing-and-differences/183143/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>iDrop News</em></a> report, the iPhone 14 series will also be receiving a similar treatment this time around.</p>
<p>Apparently, the brand will be reusing the A15 Bionic chipset that was on the iPhone 13 series for the base iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max model this year. However, to avoid possible backlash, the company will be rebranding the new chipset to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a16/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">A16</a>, to keep it in line with its typical annual chip refresh cycle. On the other hand, the actual new chip could be labelled as the A16 Pro, which will likely be reserved for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-14-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 14 Pro</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-14-pro-max/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone 14 Pro Max</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-412490 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-A15-Bionic.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="301" height="283" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-A15-Bionic.png 301w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Apple-A15-Bionic-300x282.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 301px) 100vw, 301px" /></p>
<p>Notably, this move allow Apple to cut down on costs. With the mini model being discontinued, the lineup will now start at 799 US Dollars, meanwhile, the Max version will cost 100 US Dollars more. In other words, the company would still be able to maintain its usual 200 US Dollar price difference between its Pro and non Pro models.</p>

However, someone has managed to get their hands on one to run the Geekbench test on it.</p>
<p>So without further delay, here are the results of the latest iPhone SE&#8217;s <a href="https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/13368425" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Geekbench test</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-448355 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-Geekbench.png?x10805" alt="iPhone SE 2022 Geekbench" width="678" height="831" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-Geekbench.png 678w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-Geekbench-245x300.png 245w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-Geekbench-343x420.png 343w" sizes="(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px" /></p>
<p>The A15 Bionic powered iPhone SE manages to score a mind-blowing 1695 points on the single-core test and 4021 points on the multicore test. It is worth noting that these scores are considerably higher than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-se-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone SE (2020)</a> model which scores around 1300 in single-core and 3300 in multi-core tests on a good day.</p>
<p>Compared to the iPhone 13, the device trails only a bit in the single-core department but is left behind by around 700 points in multi-core tests. This is to be expected as the iPhone SE (2022) is a small form factor device, Apple has probably put some artificial limits on the device to counter thermal and battery brain issues.</p>
<p>The benchmarks are also obviously higher than anything Android has to offer. For single-core, the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 holds the highest score in the Android camp with 1057 points and for multi-core, the Huawei Mate 40 has the highest score of 2249 points.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-447995 td-animation-stack-type0-2" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-1.jpg?x10805" alt="iPhone SE (2022)" width="1200" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-1.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-1-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-1-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/iPhone-SE-2022-1-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>As for its spec sheet, the new iPhone SE 2022 comes with the same design, and 4.7-inch screen as its predecessor and also features the Touch ID button. However, the device is now powered by the 5G enabled A15 Bionic chip coupled with 4GB of RAM. The back of the device gains protection from a Ceramic Shield and is now certified with IP67 water and dust resistance.</p>
<p>The new iPhone SE (2022) is available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options. In terms of colors, the phone will be available in midnight, starlight, and PRODUCT Red colorway. Pricing starts at $429 for the 64GB version and the device is expected to go on sale from March 18 in 30 countries including the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, and the United Kingdom. The iPhone SE 3 will be available to pre-order from March 11.</p>

The tablet will feature the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15-bionic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">A15 Bionic</a> chipset and will even feature an enhanced selfie camera with Center Stage technology.</p>

<p>According to <a class="external-link-new-window" href="http://www.macotakara.jp/blog/rumor/entry-42293.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mac Otakara&#8217;s</a> sources (Via <a href="https://www.notebookcheck.net/Apple-may-be-prepping-the-new-iPad-Air-5-featuring-an-A15-processor-and-enhanced-Center-Stage-front-cam-with-a-2022-launch-timeframe.593197.0.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>NotebookCheck</em></a>), the Cupertino based giant is gearing up for an iPad Air 5 launch later this year. While its chipset and other features are in line with current gen standards, its display and design will reportedly remain the same as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-ipad-air-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">2020 iPad Air</a>. Furthermore, this information is also similar to earlier reports that hinted at Apple hosting a virtual event sometime between March and April 2022.</p>
<p>During this conference, the brand is expected to announce its latest lineup of products, which would likely include the highly anticipated <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-se-3/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone SE 3</a>, which unlike the iPad Air, is expected to arrive with a major overhaul. The model is now expected to feature a notched LCD screen, similar to the one found on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-xr/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone XR</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-342455 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-colors-1.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="874" height="389" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-colors-1.jpg 874w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-colors-1-300x134.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-colors-1-768x342.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/iPad-Air-2020-colors-1-696x310.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 874px) 100vw, 874px" /></p>
<p>On the other hand, the iPad Air 5 won&#8217;t feature any notable changes in design. However, the addition of the A15 Bionic chipset means that the upcoming mid range iPad will feature 5G support. In other words, it might be a worthy upgrade for those looking for an iPad upgrade. With the current gen iPad Air models retailing for around 600 US Dollars, we can expect the new iPad Air 5 to also arrive with a similar price tag as well.</p>

Fresh information shared by TrendForce, a research firm from Taiwan, the third-generation iPhone SE is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2022. Probably, the Cupertino based brand will announce it by the end of March 2021.</p>
<p>The research firm claimed that apart from launching the alleged iPhone SE 2022 in Q1 2022, Apple will also have four models in the second half of the year. It is expected to arrive as a mid-range phone with support for 5G connectivity. Apple’s production volume for the coming year is expected to reach 25 to 30 million units, claimed the company.</p>
<figure id="attachment_338665" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-338665" style="width: 900px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-338665" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iPhone-SE-2020.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone SE (2020)" width="900" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iPhone-SE-2020.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iPhone-SE-2020-300x167.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iPhone-SE-2020-768x427.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iPhone-SE-2020-696x387.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Apple-iPhone-SE-2020-756x420.jpg 756w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-338665" class="wp-caption-text">Apple iPhone SE (2020)</figcaption></figure>
<p>It was revealed by reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the appearance of the iPhone SE will be similar to the existing iPhone SE 2020 model. Hence, it is expected to retain the 4.7-inch display. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/08/apple-iphone-se-3-will-have-5g-connectivity-and-upgraded-chipset/">only major change</a> the iPhone SE 2022 is expected to offer is the inclusion of a new processor that will bring support for 5G connectivity.</p>
<p>The iPhone SE 2020 borrowed a lot of features from the iPhone 8 and came with upgraded internals like the Apple Bionic A13 chip. It is likely that the iPhone SE 2022 may feature the Apple A15 Bionic, which powers the iPhone 13 series that debuted this year.</p>
<p>Rumors also suggest the existence of <a href="New%20iPhone%20SE%20mid-range%205G%20phone%20could%20be%20launching%20in%20Q1%202022,%20will">the iPhone SE Plus</a>. However, the new report has no information on it.</p>

So you have a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display on the iPhone 13 Pro while the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch screen. Just like the iPhone 13 Mini and iPhone 13, the pro models also feature slightly smaller notches. They are also protected by a sheet of Ceramic Shield which Apple claims is tougher than any smartphone glass.</p>

<p>The Apple A15 Bionic chipset is inside the two phones and it brings upgrades in the CPU and GPU department. Apple didn&#8217;t waste the chance to say that competitors are still playing catch up, even with its older chipsets.</p>
<p>The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max boast significant upgrades in the camera department. There is a new 12MP f/1.8 ultrawide angle camera with a 120° field of view, and just like we have seen on some Android phones, this sensor can also shoot macro photos (at 2 cm) but Apple doesn&#8217;t stop there. It can also record macro videos including in slow motion and time-lapse mode. This sensor also captures up to 92% more light than before.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-412471" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-13-Pro-cameras.png?x10805" alt="iPhone 13 Pro cameras" width="899" height="804" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-13-Pro-cameras.png 899w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-13-Pro-cameras-300x268.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-13-Pro-cameras-768x687.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-13-Pro-cameras-696x622.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/iPhone-13-Pro-cameras-470x420.png 470w" sizes="(max-width: 899px) 100vw, 899px" /></p>
<p>There is also a 12MP f/2.8 telephoto camera that brings 3x optical zoom  (6x optical zoom range across the system) and 15x digital zoom. This sensor also joins the ultrawide angle camera and the wide-angle camera in being able to shoot in Night Mode. The 12MP f/1.5 wide camera has the largest sensor, capturing 2.2x more light on an iPhone and it takes advantage of the LiDAR Scanner when shooting in Night Mode.</p>
<p>Apple has added new video shooting features such as Cinematic Mode that change the focus when recording a video. Users will be able to choose, adjust the level of bokeh, and even lock which objects the camera should focus on. However, there is also an automatic mode that shifts the focus when a person enters the frame or looks away from the camera. This feature will be available on the front TrueDepth camera and the rear wide and telephoto cameras.</p>
<p>Another interesting feature is Photographic Styles which applies your own preferred shooting style (tone and warmth) to your photos but doesn&#8217;t change the skies and skin tones.</p>
<p>The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max still have a lightning connector like their siblings. However, the battery life is better now &#8211; an extra 2.5 hours more on the Pro Max and 1.5 hours more on the Pro. Wired charging is still capped at 20W while MagSafe wireless charging is 15W. You can still use a Qi wireless charger but it is slower as it charges at up to 7.5W.</p>

As the launch in September nears, more and more details about the smartphone series keep surfacing online.</p>
<p>In the latest development, a <a href="https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20210826PD207.html">report coming from DigiTimes</a> claims that Apple could be rising the price of the iPhone 13 models to compensate for the increasing cost of component manufacturing.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-405346 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple iPhone 13" width="1024" height="507" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-300x149.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-768x380.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-324x160.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-696x345.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Apple-iPhone-13-to-bring-Potrait-Mode-and-ProRes-for-videos-848x420.jpg 848w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>We would advise you to take this information with a pinch of salt as DigiTimes doesn&#8217;t have a credible track record when it comes to predicting plans related to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a>. However, this time, it is citing industry sources, so it may turn out to be true.</p>
<p>Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, the world&#8217;s largest chip manufacturer, is also a contract manufacturer for Apple chipsets, including the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15-bionic">Apple A15 Bionic</a> that will be powering the upcoming lineup, which is based on the 5nm+ process.</p>
<p>With TSMC set to increase pricing, Apple will be passing on that price to the customers. TSMC has notified customers about increasing pricing up to 20 percent. Apple, which is among the biggest client of the company, could see a price rise between 3-5 percent.</p>
<p>While the price increase from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc">TSMC</a> is set to go into effect from January next year, Apple will be launching the new devices with increased pricing instead of hiking price just a couple of months after its official launch.</p>
<p>A few months ago, it was reported that Apple had placed a massive order of more than 100 million units of the A15 Bionic chips with TSMC as the company wants to eliminate any issues with supply and components for its upcoming<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-13/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> iPhone 13</a> lineup.</p>

<p>According to new rumors (Via <a href="https://wccftech.com/apple-ordered-100-million-a15-bionic-chips-from-tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>WccFTech</em></a>), the Cupertino based giant is expecting to see high demands for its 2021 iPhone series and has, thus, asked suppliers to raise production by 20 percent compared to the previous generation iPhone 12. The suppliers include the world&#8217;s largest contract chipmaker, TSMC, who will be supplying the iPhone maker with a whopping 100 million units of its custom chipset, as per the recent rumors.</p>
<p>Although, the shipments of A15 Bionic chipsets will not be solely for the upcoming iPhone 13. The company will also reportedly be keeping an extra stock of the latest chipset for any upcoming products. This might include the likes of the iPad Mini 6, which is expected to launch later this year with a redesign. Previous reports had also claimed that the A15 Bionic will power the next iPhone SE as well.</p>

<p>Despite other products also featuring the A15 Bionic chip, the majority of the new processors will be reserved for the iPhone 13 that is expected to see high demand. For those unaware, the A15 will sport a core configuration similar to the A14, with four power efficiency cores and 2 high powered cores. Although, the new chip will feature a new and advanced 5nm process from TSMC.</p>

Now, the Cupertino-based tech giant is going all-in with the next-generation connectivity support.</p>
<p>This year, all the models in the iPhone 13 series will have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G connectivity</a> support, similar to iPhone 12 lineup. But not only that, all the iPhones getting launched in 2022 will have 5G connectivity, including the next-generation iPhone SE.</p>
<figure id="attachment_317102" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-317102" style="width: 692px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-317102 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/iPhone-SE-2020-b.jpg?x10805" alt="iPhone SE 2020 featured" width="692" height="423" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/iPhone-SE-2020-b.jpg 692w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/iPhone-SE-2020-b-300x183.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/iPhone-SE-2020-b-687x420.jpg 687w" sizes="(max-width: 692px) 100vw, 692px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-317102" class="wp-caption-text">Apple iPhone SE 2020</figcaption></figure>
<p>While the Apple iPhone SE 2022 will be getting 5G support, the company is expected to get rid of the iPhone Mini model next year as the demand for the model with a smaller screen didn&#8217;t meet the company&#8217;s expectations.</p>
<p>A <a href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Technology/Apple-to-go-all-in-on-5G-for-its-2022-iPhone-lineup">new report from Nikkei Asia</a> claims that the upcoming iPhone SE, which will get launched in the first half of 2022, will come powered by the Apple A15 Bionic chipset which will be powering this year&#8217;s iPhone models. It will also pack a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/25/apple-iphone-13-snapdragon-x60-5g-modem/">Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 modem</a> to enable 5G connectivity support.</p>
<p>Apple started offering <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED screens</a> for the entire iPhone 12 lineup but the upcoming iPhone SE model will have an LCD display of 4.7-inch, claims the report citing four people aware of the development. It is expected to carry the same pricing as the current-generation model &#8212; $399.</p>
<p>It makes sense for Apple to go all-in when it comes to offering 5G connectivity on its smartphones given that the company was a later come to this new technology as most of its rivals, including <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, etc. started offering 5G support on their devices, both premium and mid-range, since past couple of years.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-400069 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="1030" height="579" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579.jpg 1030w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/A15-Bionic-1030x579-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1030px) 100vw, 1030px" /></p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://wccftech.com/a15-bionic-same-six-core-configuration-as-a14-bionic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>WccFTech</em> </a>report, the upcoming processor from the Cupertino based giant will arrive with a similar CPU configuration that we have seen before. Although, this new iteration will likely arrive with improvements to its performance and power efficiency. While the A15 Bionic will arrive with various improvements, it will still sport the same number of cores in the CPU, which is 6. However, the notable difference in the new chipset is that it will be<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/19/apple-a15-tsmc-n5p-future-chips-4nm-process/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> made on the N5P node from TSMC</a>.</p>
<p>For those unaware, the A14 Bionic was built on a 5nm process from TSMC, but the upcoming node is expected to offer certain improvements over the 5nm architecture. This also implies that the Cupertino based giant has yet to shift towards the 4nm process this year. Looking at the A14, it featured two high performance cores paired with four power efficient cores, so we can expect the A15 to follow a similar layout.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, another report (Via <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-07-14/apple-seeks-up-to-20-increase-in-new-iphone-production-for-2021" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em></a>) has also revealed that Apple is raising production for its iPhone 13 series by 20 percent over its predecessors. Usually, the brand targets around 75 million units for the initial run of its iPhone&#8217;s launch till the end of the year. But robust sales of the iPhone 12 series have apparently led to Apple asking its suppliers to build as many as 90 million units of the 2021 iPhone, as it expects 5G to become a standard that would push its users for an upgrade.</p>

This new rumor has also revealed that the iPhone 13 models will feature larger battery capacities.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-392763 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="734" height="591" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282.png 734w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282-300x242.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282-696x560.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Screenshot-282-522x420.png 522w" sizes="(max-width: 734px) 100vw, 734px" /></p>
<p>The news arrives from a known tipster on <a href="https://www.weibo.com/u/6048569942?is_all=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Weibo</em></a>, a Chinese microblogging website. As per this rumor, the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup will be powered by battery capacities that are larger than the previous generation. The social media post claims that the high end iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature a 4352mAh battery, which is a notable jump from the current iPhone 12 Pro Max&#8217;s 3687mAh battery.</p>
<p>Similarly, the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Pro will house an identical 3095mAh battery, which is higher than the 2815mAh battery from the previous generation. The smallest lineup of the model, the iPhone 13 mini, will also feature a larger 2406mAh battery capacity compared to the iPhone 12 mini&#8217;s 2227mAh battery pack. Keep in mind, that even if this rumor was true, battery sizes do not paint a clear story regarding smartphone&#8217;s battery life.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-389123 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="1600" height="901" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs.jpg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/iPhone-13-Camera-Backs-746x420.jpg 746w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></p>
<p>The Cupertino based giant&#8217;s new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-a15/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">A15</a> chipset is likely to also bring improvements in performance along with power efficiency as well. So, the larger batteries paired with a more efficient chipset could noticeably improve battery life throughout the entire iPhone 13 series. Unfortunately, this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding the upcoming smartphones.</p>

It is one of the first in the smartphone industry to be manufactured using the 5nm process.</p>
<p>Now, reports about the company&#8217;s upcoming Apple A15 Bionic chip are making rounds. It is believed that the technology giant is again partnering with manufacturer <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc">TSMC</a> to push for ever smaller nodes for the upcoming processor.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-301818 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1300" height="648" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo.jpg 1300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-768x383.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-1024x510.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-696x347.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-1068x532.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-843x420.jpg 843w" sizes="(max-width: 1300px) 100vw, 1300px" /></p>
<p>According to the <a href="https://www.trendforce.com/presscenter/news/20201118-10556.html">new report</a> from TrendForce, the next-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chipset">smartphone processor</a> from Apple, which is expected to be named A15 Bionic, will be manufactured using the 5nm+ processor, which is being referred by the company as N5P.</p>
<p>TSMC says that the N5P node is the performance-enhanced version of the current 5nm process and is claimed by the Taiwanese company to deliver additional power efficiency and performance improvements.</p>
<p>This is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/27/apple-a15-chipset-tsmc-np5-node/">in line with the previous report</a> which also added that the company is planning to mass-produce the upcoming chipset in Q3 2021.</p>

<p>Reports about Apple&#8217;s chip doesn&#8217;t stop there. The next chipset that will come after the A15, the Apple A16, most likely in the year 2022, is said to be based on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/09/tsmc-announces-a-new-4nm-process-an-enhanced-version-of-the-5nm-process/">TSMC&#8217;s 4nm process</a>, which the company is currently working on. This should offer more improvements for performance and power efficiency.</p>
<p>It seems that Apple wants to be the leading company when it comes to innovations and pushing the boundaries for performance and power efficiency. This shouldn&#8217;t be limited to just smartphone chips. Given that TSMC also manufactures Apple&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/11/apple-unveils-the-m1-chipset-a-powerful-8-core-processor-for-the-mac/">newly launched M1 chipset</a>, the advancement in the process will extend to future Apple Silicon chips as well.</p>
<p>Apart from the 5nm process, manufacturers like TSMC and Samsung Electronics have already started working on the 3nm and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/26/tsmc-new-roadmap-plans-2nm-chip-factory/">2nm process</a>, which are expected to be ready for mass-production by 2025.</p>

<p>The newly launched iPhone 12 models are powered by the Apple A14 Bionic chipset and now a new report has surfaced online which reveals what to expect from the next-generation Apple A15 Bionic <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartphone-chipset">chipset</a> which will power the iPhone 13 models.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-301818 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1300" height="648" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo.jpg 1300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-768x383.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-1024x510.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-696x347.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-1068x532.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Apple-logo-843x420.jpg 843w" sizes="(max-width: 1300px) 100vw, 1300px" /></p>
<p>A <a href="https://www.chinatimes.com/newspapers/20201026000140-260202">report coming from China Times</a> claims that the A15 Bionic will be manufactured using the N5P node by TSMC, which is among the three variants of 5nm node being developed by the Taiwanese manufacturer.</p>
<p>It also adds that the mass-production for the same could start in the third quarter of the upcoming year, i.e. Q3 2021. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> has reportedly started working on the same to avoid any delays as the company had to delay the launch of this year&#8217;s iPhone models because of the COVID-19 pandemic.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><span style="color: #ff0000"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</strong> </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/27/samsung-display-license-supply-huawei/"><strong>Samsung Display reportedly acquires license to supply display panels to Chinese giant Huawei</strong></a></p>
<p>Recently, it was reported that TSMC’s facility for the production of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5nm">5nm</a> chips has been fully booked by Apple and the reason for the preferential treatment is likely the fact that almost one-fifth of the company’s total revenue comes from the Cupertino-based tech giant.</p>
<p>This probably is the reason which led to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/08/samsung-makes-5g-qualcomm-chips/">Samsung getting orders from Qualcomm</a> for the mass-production of the upcoming flagship chipset &#8212; Snapdragon 875, which is also being manufactured using a 5nm node.</p>
<p>While the Apple A15 Bionic chipset is expected to use the 5nm process, manufacturers like TSMC and Samsung have already started working on more advanced technologies, which includes a 3nm process and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/25/tsmc-breakthrough-2nm-development-chips-2024/">even a 2nm process</a>, which will be ready for use in mass-production of chipsets in the coming years.</p>
