The rear cameras are definitely not the best of their segment, but the front camera looks very interesting with its 8 MP resolution and a bright f/1.8 focal aperture allowing to take bright selfies even in the dark. Last but not least, the Vivo Y91i. Unfortunately, Vivo Y91i lacks a fingerprint reader, but it offers a very compact design thanks to a compact 6.2-inch display. If you can stretch your budget a bit and get until ₹10,999, we recommend you the Infinix S5 Pro. Unlike all the devices mentioned in this selection, it boasts an amazing Full HD+ display with a wide 6.53-inch diagonal and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. Further, thanks to a motorized pop-up selfie camera (and it is even an amazing 16 MP snapper for the price), it has a full-screen display with no notch and no holes. Last but not least, the handset packs a stunning 48 MP triple camera including a dedicated sensor to boost photos in low light conditions.

You probably must have noticed a lot of devices that were sold for less than Rs. 10,000 until a few months ago are missing in the above list. That is because of the revised GST which caused price hikes on most smartphones in India. After the increased GST rate took effect, a lot of manufacturers decided to increase the prices of their handsets. The high price hikes of the Redmi 8 and Note 8 series is just an example of this.

If you want to buy a new phone this year and you have a low budget, it is highly recommended for you to follow Mobile World Congress before making your purchase.

Archos is going to showcase three low-end devices sold at very affordable prices. Their names are Archos Core 55S, Core 57S, and Core 60S. The first, which is also the cheapest one, will launch with a price tag of just €99 ($122). It will sport a 5.5-inch display, a Spreadtrum SC9850 quad-core SoC, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Its battery will have 2300 mAh capacity, while the cameras will have 8 and 2 MP resolutions, respectively.

Archos 57S will offer a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, but it will cost just $147. It has a slightly bigger battery (2500 mAh) and the same SoC as the previous model. UNBOXING

In the box, you can find all the usual stuff and some extras include a soft TPU case.

DESIGN and DISPLAY

The C5 Pro is one of those better built super cheap phones out there. It uses a metal frame that goes around the device and tactile metal buttons.

Also, the backplate has a pretty cool-looking textured finish, which is nice to the touch.

In addition, the phone is compact due to its 5” 720p display, which is pretty good for the price but it may be slightly reflective outdoors. One of the key selling points is the toughness of the display. I did not have a chance to fully test it but it is said that to have 9H hardness.

A few drawbacks would be that there is no LED notification light and the capacitive keys are not backlit.

The loudspeaker is not really impressive but it is pretty good for the phone this cheap.

You can easily remove the backplate and underneath it, you will find two SIM card slots, the microSD card slot, and a replaceable 2000mAh battery.

HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE

The phone ships with a quad-core MTK6737 chip, 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM.

These are not very impressive specs if you are a gamer. You should expect quite a few skipped frames and a bit of stutter when playing games like Asphalt 8 even on medium graphics.

BENCHMARKS

USER INTERFACE

The phone ships with Android 6.0 out of the box and we have some redesigned icons and added features by Oukitel. For example, there are some gesture and motion controls. As usual, I use only a couple of them and they work fine.

Most importantly, the phone runs fast and fluid most of the time. Well, I had a little bit of stutter a couple of times but nothing major.

CAMERAS

IT IS HIGHLY-RECOMMENDED TO DOWNLOAD FULL RESOLUTION CAMERA SAMPLES TO SEE THE ACTUAL IMAGE QUALITY. THE PICTURES UPLOADED ON THE WEBSITE ARE 50% SMALLER IN RESOLUTION.

The phone has a an 8MP main camera and 5MP shooter on the front.

You can be picky with each cheap phone once you talk about the image quality but you should never expect any stellar results from cheap phones. The C5 Pro is no exception.

The images look okay but they are usually overexposed, oversaturated, there could be more detail and so on.

The video quality is okay… for a cheap phone. However, the sound quality is just terrible.

CONNECTIVITY

I didn’t have any connectivity issues. However, the GPS could be slightly more accurate.

BATTERY LIFE

The 2000mAh battery does not impress on paper but it could still get me through the day on a mixed use. With my usage, I could get around 4 hours of screen-on time.

CONCLUSIONS

The Oukitel C5 Pro is another cheap phone from China that costs about $70. For the price, it is a decent offering and this is what you have to expect from a cheap phone. Most importantly, it does not have any major shortcomings but as most of the cheap devices, it has a few drawbacks that you have to consider before buying it.

Buying a daily cheap phone is not that easy anymore as it was a couple years ago. We just had a couple of alternatives, but today, as more Chinese makers come to market and because of the high competition in the smartphone market, there are many more phones to choose from. Today, we will try to help you with the purchase of a super cheap phone. Remember, these are phones under $100 class, and hence you should not expect a lot from them, but again, some might also surprise you in this price range.

There are more than 50 alternatives under 100$ range so I decided to narrow down this list as choosing minimum 2GB of RAM and Quad-core CPU’s. We have 1 exception with 1GB RAM phone, because of its price. All the phones in this list are based on Quad-core MediaTek CPU’s, divided to MTK6580 and MTK6735. Both are capable of serving you as a daily smartphone processor. We have two exceptions in the list when it comes to CPU type, two 64-bit octa-core phones with MTK6592 and MTK6753, Pepsi P1s (yes it’s a smartphone) and Vernee Thor.

OUKITEL recently announced a new budget smartphone that goes by the name of the OUKITEL C3. The phone is targeted at those users who don’t want to spend much buying a phone but still want a decent smartphone experience. Now, the company has released a couple of more pictures as well as a new video showing the design of the new handset. We can tell that the company is trying to target the young generation with a diamond texture at the back and bright colours. The phone is available from May 13 and orders will ship out as soon as May 15. For a limited number of orders, you can also get a free silicon case with the device. Not at all a bad deal considering you get the phone for just $47.99.

Now, coming to the specs of the OUKITEL C3, it comes with the MT6580 quad-core chipset and 1GB of RAM inside. You get 8GB of expandable ROM, 2000mAh battery inside an 8.8mm body, 5-inch 720p display and a 5MP rear camera. To remind you, this is not a 4G LTE enabled device but works on 3G networks.

Landvo is known to release cheap smartphones. We have seen many value for money handsets from the manufacturer, but the company has been quite for the past few months. Now, they have just released a super cheap smartphone called as the Landvo XM100 which costs just $59.99.

The phone comes with a quad-core MT6580 chipset along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. At the back, there’s an 8MP (interpolated) camera with LED flash while a 5MP front facing shooter lies on top of the display, up front. The display is of 5-inches with a decent resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. Finally, for battery you have a 2000mAh capacity one, which with these specs should be enough for a day’s usage.

One of the highlights of the phone is the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS that comes right out of the box. These specs are not extraordinary, but then you can get the phone for just $59.99 which makes it a pretty good deal.
