Canon has announced that 2026 marks 30 years of its PowerShot compact digital camera lineup. To commemorate the occasion, the company will release a limited-edition version of the PowerShot G7 X Mark III with updated design elements and anniversary branding.

Three decades of PowerShot evolution

The PowerShot series was introduced in July 1996 with the PowerShot 600. Over the years, Canon expanded the lineup across multiple segments. Early models included the PowerShot A5 launched in April 1998, and the PowerShot Pro70 in November 1998. The S series debuted with the S10 in October 1999, followed by the G series with the G1 in October 2000.

The company continued to add new categories, including the TX1 in March 2007, SX100 IS in October 2007, and E1 in September 2008. Later models, such as the PowerShot D10 (May 2009) and PowerShot N (April 2013) extended the range further. Most recently, Canon introduced the video-focused V series with the PowerShot V10 in June 2023.

Canon states that the PowerShot lineup has been built around delivering still photography and video in compact, easy-to-use designs. As of December 2025, the company says total global production of compact digital cameras, including the IXUS series, has exceeded 200 million units.

Current lineup structure

The current PowerShot portfolio is divided into three categories. The G series targets users looking for high image quality and advanced controls. The V series is positioned for video-focused use cases such as vlogging. The SX series is aimed at users who need extended zoom capabilities.

PowerShot G7 X Mark III: 30th anniversary edition

Canon will mark the anniversary with a limited-edition version of the PowerShot G7 X Mark III, originally launched in August 2019. The camera features a 1.0-inch stacked CMOS sensor with approximately 20.1 effective megapixels and a lens with 4.2x optical zoom. It also includes a dedicated Video Blog recording mode.

The anniversary model introduces cosmetic and packaging changes. These include a graphite color finish, a knurled control ring, a 30th anniversary logo on the body, and a collector’s edition wrist strap. It will also ship in commemorative packaging.

Canon has confirmed that the model will be released in limited quantities. Pricing and availability details have not been announced yet.

FUJIFILM India has launched the instax mini Evo Cinema, a new hybrid instant camera that shoots photos and videos while also printing them instantly. The camera builds on the existing instax Evo lineup by adding video recording and creative effects based on different decades.

The instax mini Evo Cinema has a hybrid design with a 1.54-inch rear LCD display for previewing photos before printing. It captures still images at 1920 × 2560 resolution using a 1/5-inch 5 MP CMOS sensor. For video, it records at 600 × 800 in Standard mode or 1080 × 1440 in High-Quality 2020 mode at 24p in MP4 format. The camera has an ISO range of 100 to 1600 on auto, shutter speeds from 1/4 to 1/8000 sec, and an F2.0 aperture. It uses Program AE exposure with ±2 EV compensation, TTL 256 split metering, and Single AF with face recognition from 10 cm to infinity.

The video-to-print feature lets you turn recorded videos into QR codes that print alongside a still frame on instax mini film. You can scan the QR code with your smartphone to replay the video inside an instax-style frame or download it for sharing.

The camera connects to a dedicated smartphone app for iOS and Android through Bluetooth 5.4 and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The app supports remote shooting, image and video transfer, firmware updates, and direct printing of smartphone photos in JPEG, PNG, or HEIF formats. You can merge multiple clips into a single video up to 30 seconds long, apply opening and ending templates, and create poster-style prints with custom text.

The Eras Dial provides 10 effects inspired by different decades from 1930 to 2020. Options include a 1960s 8mm film look and a 1970s CRT television effect. Each effect has adjustable intensity and adds matching audio elements like noise, tape flutter, and mechanical sounds during recording.

The camera has a vertical grip design inspired by the FUJICA Single-8, finished in black and gray. It includes a clickable Eras Dial, a Print Lever, an attachable viewfinder, and a grip accessory. Prints are produced at 1600 × 600 resolution in about 16 seconds. The internal lithium-ion battery can handle around 100 prints per full charge.

The instax mini Evo Cinema Premium Edition is priced at Rs. 47,999 in India. It comes as a combo box with the camera and two packs of instax mini glossy film. Pre-bookings are open from 21 to 27 January 2026 on the official instax website. The camera will be available and start shipping on 28 January 2026. Customers who pre-book will receive two additional designer instax mini film packs.

Leica has introduced the Leica Q3 Monochrom, a black-and-white version of the Q3. Leica has been making monochrome digital cameras since the M9 Monochrom in 2012, and the new model brings the same idea to its compact full-frame line, with updated hardware and a refined design.

The Q3 Monochrom uses a 60 MP monochrome sensor that records only brightness data. There are no colour filters, which helps the camera produce higher detail, stronger sharpness and better tonal range. The sensor supports Triple Resolution Technology that lets users shoot at 60, 36 or 18 MP. The ISO range is 100 to 200,000. The camera records video at up to 8K resolution. It comes with the fixed Leica Summilux 28 mm f/1.7 ASPH lens, which delivers low-noise results in low light. Macro mode is available with a close focusing distance of 17 cm.

The design keeps the familiar Q-series look but switches to a full monochrome finish. The all-metal body and lens hood are black, and the engravings on the top plate and lens use black or grey. The leatherette covering has a clean, textured finish. Leica has also removed the red logo on the front to keep the design simple. The camera is made in Germany and has an IP52 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.

Key hardware features include a 5.76 MP OLED viewfinder, a tilting touch display and a fast hybrid autofocus system. Digital zoom expands the focal range from 28 to 90 mm. Wireless options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C and Micro HDMI, along with full support for the Leica FOTOS app for fast transfers.

The Q3 Monochrom is the first Q-series camera to support Content Credentials, which adds a CAI-compliant digital signature to each image for secure verification. Leica is also rolling out a new interface that separates photo and video menus, which will come to both the Q3 and Q3 43 through a firmware update at the end of the year.

The camera works with existing Q3 accessories. Leica is also releasing a wireless charging handgrip, a red filter and new carrying straps. The Leica Q3 Monochrom will be available worldwide on 20 November 2025 for EUR 6,750 including VAT.

Leica Camera AG has announced the Leica M EV1, the first M-System camera with an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF). The camera is designed to make focusing simpler and more accurate, especially when using fast Summilux or Noctilux lenses with shallow depth of field, or when shooting with ultra-wide, telephoto, or macro lenses.

The Leica M EV1 features a 5.76-megapixel electronic viewfinder that delivers high clarity and natural color reproduction. It provides a real-time exposure preview, showing exactly how the image will appear based on focal length and aperture. Users can view exposure settings such as shutter speed, ISO, and exposure value around the frame. The view automatically switches between the EVF and the touchscreen via an eye sensor. A dioptre adjustment wheel allows customization from -4 to +2 for comfortable use.

Focus assist tools such as focus peaking and focus zoom help users achieve sharp results in manual focus. The traditional front lever, previously used for frame preview, now activates features like focus assist or digital zoom (1.3x or 1.8x).

Built on the Leica M11 platform, the M EV1 uses a full-frame BSI-CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Technology, capturing images at 60, 36, or 18 megapixels. The Maestro III processor handles image data quickly, storing it on a 64 GB internal memory or SD card. Files can be saved in DNG or JPEG format. Panasonic has expanded its LUMIX S9 full-frame mirrorless camera lineup with new color options and a limited Titanium Gold edition. The LUMIX S9 has been one of the most popular compact full-frame cameras since its launch last year and has received several design awards, including the iF Design Award 2025, Red Dot Design Award 2025, and the TIPA Award for “Best Content Creator Camera.”

The new Titanium Gold edition is limited to 200 units and will be available in Europe from October 16 for €1,399, sold only through the Panasonic Shop. Sony India has announced the RX1R III, the third-generation model in its RX1R compact camera lineup. The camera was initially announced globally back in July 2025. It features a 61-megapixel 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS image sensor, the latest BIONZ XR image processor, and a ZEISS Sonnar T 35mm F2 lens.

Sony RX1R III features

The RX1R III combines a 61-megapixel back-illuminated sensor with the BIONZ XR engine to deliver high resolution, wide dynamic range, and low noise. The sensor has an anti-reflection coating and no optical low-pass filter, producing sharp and detailed images. The built-in ZEISS lens is tuned to the sensor at the micron level to ensure excellent sharpness and contrast across the frame.

The camera features an AI processing unit used in Sony’s top Alpha models. It detects and tracks eyes, faces, heads, and human bodies even when they are partially hidden. It covers around 78 percent of the frame with 693 phase-detection autofocus points. The Step Crop Shooting function lets users switch between focal lengths equivalent to 35mm, 50mm, and 70mm, and reselect them during RAW editing. The macro mode allows focusing as close as 20 cm, with a maximum magnification of 0.26x.

There are twelve built-in Creative Looks for photos and videos. FL2 gives muted, nostalgic tones, while FL3 produces bright and vivid images.

ZTE has launched the Xiaoxing Kankan SC41, a smart pan-tilt camera designed for home and small business surveillance. The camera will go on sale starting October 9 at a price of 165.5 yuan ($23).

The SC41 features a 4-megapixel 1/2.7-inch CMOS sensor and supports 2.5K (2560×1440) resolution. ZTE claims the camera captures approximately 33% more detail than traditional 3MP models. It also includes an f/2.0 aperture, which allows more light into the lens for better clarity in both day and low-light conditions. The camera supports full-color imaging in ultra-low-light environments.

ZTE has equipped the SC41 with eight 940nm infrared LEDs that provide up to 10 meters of night vision. DJI has officially launched the Osmo Nano, a modular action camera designed for portable content creation and outdoor shooting. The camera features a dual-sided magnetic design that allows users to switch between selfie mode and forward-facing shooting instantly.

The camera weighs 52 grams and includes a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with a 143° ultra-wide field of view. It supports video recording at up to 4K/60fps and can shoot slow-motion video at 4K/120fps. DJI also provides advanced stabilization modes such as RockSteady 3.0 and HorizonBalancing for smoother footage. The device supports 10-bit D-Log M color recording and offers a dynamic range of up to 13.5 stops.

FUJIFILM North America has announced the release of the GFX ETERNA 55, its first camera designed primarily for professional digital filmmaking. The camera combines Fujifilm’s color science with a large-format sensor to provide filmmakers with a versatile tool for cinematic content.

The GFX ETERNA 55 features one of the tallest digital cinema sensors available, allowing expanded use of spherical and anamorphic lenses. Its native 4:3 Open Gate format is nearly 1.7 times larger than Full Frame, providing flexibility in framing and composition. The camera supports up to 16 3D LUTs and includes 20 built-in Film Simulations, giving precise control over color and tone from production to post.

The camera uses a 102-megapixel GFX 102MP CMOS II HS sensor. It offers five main formats: GF, Premista, 35mm, ANAMORPHIC (35mm), and Super35, with multiple resolution options. Filming is possible in 4:3 Open Gate at up to 48 frames per second. The sensor measures 43.8mm wide, 32.9mm high, and 54.8mm diagonally. Fujifilm added a four-point Optical Low-Pass Filter to reduce optical artifacts. Dual-Base ISO at 800 and 3200 ensures flexibility in bright or low light.

The GFX ETERNA 55 captures images using F-Log2 and F-Log2 C with over 14 stops of dynamic range. Filmmakers can use 10 Film Simulation 3D-LUTs, including ETERNA and ETERNA BLEACH BYPASS, along with additional downloadable LUTs such as PROVIA, Velvia, and ACROS. Up to 16 LUTs can be stored in the camera for real-time preview of final looks.

The camera supports Apple ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, ProRes 422 LT, and H.265/HEVC codecs. It can output 4:2:2 10-bit uncompressed data and up to 8K/30P 12-bit RAW via HDMI. Frame.io Camera to Cloud integration allows instant upload for review or post-production.

The body weighs 4.4 pounds (2 kilograms). Dual 3-inch side monitors give operators and assistants full menu access. A multi-function dial controls focus, iris, and zoom, and adjusts the internal variable ND filter. The 2000-nit 5-inch touch LCD works in bright sunlight and adjusts to multiple angles. The internal NP-W235 battery provides 30 minutes of filming without external power and supports hot swapping of external batteries. Media options include CFExpress Type B and SD cards.

Nikon has announced its first cinema camera, the Nikon ZR, marking the debut of the new Z Cinema series. The full-frame, ultra-lightweight camera is designed for both emerging cinematographers and professional creators, combining Nikon’s imaging expertise with RED’s color science.

The ZR records internally up to 6K/60p 12-bit RAW using the new R3D NE RAW codec, based on RED’s R3D RAW format. It offers over 15 stops of dynamic range and supports Log3G10 and REDWideGamutRGB, ensuring consistent color reproduction with RED cameras such as the V-RAPTOR [X] and KOMODO-X. Two base ISO options, 800 and 6400, provide flexibility for bright or low-light conditions, while ISO remains fully adjustable in post-production. The camera also supports N-RAW, ProRes RAW, and additional formats for diverse workflows.

A large 4-inch DCI-P3 LCD monitor provides high brightness for outdoor use, reducing reliance on external displays. Users can preview looks in real time with up to ten stored LUTs, including RED’s Creative LUT Kit. A new Cinematic Mode simplifies setup by automatically applying a 180-degree shutter, 24 fps recording, and RED Cine Bias Picture Control.

The ZR introduces 32-bit float audio recording with built-in and external microphones, a first for a cinema camera. It integrates Nokia’s OZO Audio technology, enabling directional sound capture with five selectable pickup patterns. Canon U.S.A. has introduced several new products to its cinema and imaging lineup, including the EOS C50 full-frame cinema camera, the RF85mm F1.4 L VCM Hybrid Lens, firmware updates for Cinema EOS cameras, a refreshed PowerShot compact model, and the CINE-SERVO 11-55mm T2.95-3.95 lens.

Canon EOS C50 Cinema Camera

The EOS C50 is Canon’s smallest and lightest cinema camera, weighing about 1.5 pounds. It features a new 7K full-frame CMOS sensor, 7K 60P internal RAW recording, and 32 megapixel still photo capture. The sensor supports Dual Base ISO of 800 and 6400 in Canon Log 2 and can record 12-bit Cinema RAW Light up to 7K 60P. The DIGIC DV7 processor powers the system, and the C50 becomes the first Cinema EOS model with full frame 3:2 open gate recording.

The camera offers multiple recording formats, including Cinema RAW Light, XF-AVC, XF-AVC S, and XF-HEVC S. These formats are designed to preserve metadata while recording in the MP4 structure. The C50 can also capture simultaneous cropped video in 2K when shooting in 4K DCI or UHD, with crop options of 9:17, 9:16, or 1:1.

Connectivity includes support for XC protocol, remote control over IP via Wi-Fi, or through a third-party USB-C Ethernet adapter. It is also compatible with the Multi Camera Control App and integrates with frame.io Camera to Cloud. Firmware and PowerShot Updates

Firmware updates will be released later in 2025 for the EOS C400, C80, C70, and R5C. Updates will add 3:2 open gate recording to the C400, improve focus peaking, add view assist in media mode, and enhance assign buttons and joystick controls on the C80 and C400.

Canon has also refreshed the PowerShot ELPH 360 HS, now named the PowerShot ELPH 360 HS A. The update changes the memory card slot from SD to microSD. It will be available in black and silver.

CINE-SERVO 11-55mm T2.95-3.95 Lens

Canon has also announced the CINE-SERVO 11-55mm T2.95-3.95 lens. It offers a 100 degree ultra-wide angle and covers Super 35mm sensors. A built-in 1.5x extender expands coverage to full-frame, increasing the focal range to 82.5mm. The 11mm wide end is equivalent to 4.1mm on a 2/3-inch broadcast camera.

The lens includes a new drive unit with faster focus and iris speeds, Focus Breathing Compensation, and a USB-C port for personalized settings. A 16-bit encoder supplies precise positional information for virtual production. Available in RF and PL mounts, it supports autofocus with RF, and Cooke/i Technology and Zeiss eXtended Data with PL. It also includes a programmable rocker switch, ARIA compatibility for illumination adjustments, and ALAC support for aberration correction with supported cameras.

Panasonic India has added two new full-frame mirrorless cameras to its LUMIX S Series lineup, the LUMIX S1II and LUMIX S1IIE. Both models were announced globally in May and are now available in India.

LUMIX S1II: New Sensor and High-Speed Recording

The LUMIX S1II uses a 24.1MP full-frame partially stacked CMOS sensor with the Venus Engine processor. It can record in 4K at 120p, 5.8K at 60p, and 5.1K at 60p. The camera delivers up to 15 stops of dynamic range in V-Log at frame rates below 30p.

For still photography, it supports burst shooting at up to 70 frames per second in SH and SH PRE modes. In High-Speed Plus mode, it can shoot at 10 fps with a mechanical shutter. The Open Gate function now supports 5.1K at 60p for more flexibility.

LUMIX S1IIE: Cinemascope and Extended Dynamic Range

The LUMIX S1IIE is built on a 24.2MP sensor based on the one in the LUMIX S5II. It records 6K at 30p in a 3:2 Open Gate format and delivers more than 14 stops of dynamic range in V-Log. It also introduces a 2.4:1 Cinemascope format that records up to 60p with no crop. The camera shares the same ergonomic design and control layout as the S1II and S1RII.

Shared Features

Both cameras include Phase Hybrid autofocus with improved subject tracking. Face, eye, and body detection are built in, and a new Urban Sports mode improves tracking for fast movements such as skateboarding or breakdancing. In-body image stabilization provides up to 8 stops of correction and supports cropless video stabilization.

Recording options include internal Apple ProRes RAW HQ and Apple ProRes on CFexpress Type B cards. ARRI LogC3 support is available through a software upgrade. Both cameras feature a 5.76 million-dot electronic viewfinder, a 1.84 million-dot tilt and free-angle touchscreen, and dual card slots for SD and CFexpress Type B. They are rated for use at temperatures as low as -10°C.

Software support covers Capture One, Frame.io, LUMIX Lab, and LUMIX Flow. Upcoming updates will add HEIF image format, waveform monitor, vectorscope, and wireless mirroring.

DJI has officially entered the 360-degree camera space with the launch of its first panoramic shooter, the Osmo 360. This isn’t a modest debut. Instead, DJI has gone all-in with flagship-grade imaging specs, pro-friendly features. Let’s check out its key specs.

DJI Osmo 360 Specifications

The Osmo 360 comes with two 1-inch square sensors. These sensors aim to reduce dead zones and improve low-light performance. The camera supports native 8K panoramic video recording at up to 50fps and offers up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range. Xiaomi is giving its long-criticized camera app a full-scale overhaul. For years, the app has been considered one of the weakest parts of Xiaomi’s otherwise solid mobile photography system. Despite strong sensors and advanced image processing, users often complained about a cluttered layout, inconsistent controls, and a fragmented user experience.

Bao, Xiaomi’s camera product manager, confirmed the revamp is based on extensive user feedback. The redesigned app addresses layout inconsistencies, confusing feature placement, and poor mode transitions. It introduces a cleaner interface, better visual alignment across modes, and reduced viewfinder clutter.

Xiaomi has also redesigned the Pro Mode. It now balances ease of use with manual control. Key tools like ISO, shutter speed, and EV adjustments are presented more intuitively. The update introduces real-time monitoring and multi-camera support for video shooters.

New features include a quick focal length toggle between 28mm and 35mm at 1x, improved EV control, and unified focal length indicators across all modes. Pro Mode now supports custom photographic styles, while the EV slider is easier to access without diving into settings.

Visually, Xiaomi has updated over 140 icons and reworked more than 600 UI elements. The app includes a new startup animation, refreshed shutter sounds, and an improved settings panel. The update also offers 40 new camera theme colors and redesigned watermark options.

The rollout will take place in three phases. The first batch, already underway, includes the Xiaomi 15 and 14 series, Mix Fold 4, Mix Flip, and the Redmi K80 and K70 series. The second wave, arriving by June 20, will cover the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Civi 4 Pro, and mid-range devices like the Redmi Turbo 4. By July, the update will reach older models such as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Redmi Note 13 series.

Sony has released the Alpha 1 II in India, a new full-frame mirrorless camera with a 50.1MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor and the BIONZ XR processor. It weighs 743g with battery and cards, and 658g without.

The camera supports ISO 100–32,000 for both stills and video. Stills ISO is expandable to 50–102,400. Autofocus uses a fast hybrid system with 759 phase-detection points and real-time recognition powered by AI. Subject detection includes humans (pose estimation), animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and airplanes.

AF works in low light down to EV-4 (with F2.0 lens). It shoots continuously at 30 fps without blackout and calculates AF/AE tracking up to 120 times per second. Pre-capture mode saves shots taken up to one second before the shutter is pressed. There’s also a shooting speed boost option.

The camera supports pixel shift mode (4-shot / 16-shot), 5-axis image stabilization (8.5 stops center, 7.0 periphery), and dynamic active mode for video. It uses a 0.64″ Quad-XGA OLED viewfinder with 9.44 million dots, 0.90x magnification, and a 240Hz refresh rate. The 3.2″ LCD monitor has 4-axis tilt, 2.1 million dots, and is touch-enabled.

Video can be recorded in 8K 10-bit 4:2:2 XAVC HS (up to 520 Mbps) and 4K from oversampled 8K/5.8K. Proxy and RAW HDMI output are supported. Frame rates go up to 4K/120p and Full HD/240p depending on format. Formats include HEIF, JPEG, 14-bit RAW, and XAVC HS, S, S-I.

It has dual CFexpress Type A / SD UHS-I/II slots. Connectivity options include LAN (2.5GBASE-T), USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI Type-A, Wi-Fi (2.4/5GHz), and Bluetooth 5.0. Audio ports include 3.5mm mic-in, headphone-out, built-in stereo mic, and mono speaker. Streaming supports up to 4K30p via USB or network (RTMP/SRT).

Battery is NP-FZ100, giving up to 520 shots via LCD. Charging options include USB PD and BC-ZD1 dual charger (155 min). The body is magnesium alloy, dust/moisture resistant. Size is 136.1 × 96.9 × 82.9 mm (full depth) or 72.8 mm (with grip monitor).

Fujifilm India has launched the FUJIFILM X-HF1 digital camera. It is priced at Rs. 76,999, but can be bought on Amazon.in for Rs. 69,999. The camera comes in Black, Charcoal Silver, and Silver.

The X-HF1 weighs 240 grams and has a 3:4 aspect ratio rear LCD monitor, designed for vertical photos and videos. It also includes an optical viewfinder that gives a traditional film camera feel.

The camera features a 2-in-1 mode, which lets users combine two vertical photos or videos into one composition. This can be done either in the camera or through the X half mobile app. The app also allows editing of the 2-in-1 images by adjusting the dividing line or switching image positions.

The X-HF1 has a 1-inch back-illuminated sensor and a 32mm F2.8 prime lens (35mm equivalent). It supports 13 Film Simulations, including REALA ACE. It also offers three new filters: Light Leak, Halation, and Expired Film. Users can add a Grain Effect for a film-like texture. A Date Stamp option is available to add dates to the bottom right corner of images and videos.

The camera also includes a Film Camera Mode. In this mode, users select a film simulation and set the number of shots. Images cannot be viewed until all shots are taken. After each shot, the frame advance lever must be wound manually. Once the roll is complete, images can be developed and shared using the X half app.

FUJIFILM has launched the Instax Mini 41 instant camera in India. It comes with a black and dark silver finish, orange accents, and a textured grip for better handling. The camera is designed to work as both a photo tool and a style accessory.

The Instax Mini 41 uses FUJIFILM instax mini Instant Film (sold separately) and produces photos sized 62 mm by 46 mm. It features a 60 mm lens with an f/12.7 aperture, comprising two components and two elements.

The viewfinder is a real image finder with 0.37× magnification and includes parallax correction when using the Close-Up Mode. The shooting range starts from 0.3 meters, and the Close-Up Mode supports shots between 0.3 and 0.5 meters.

The Automatic Light Adjustment feature adjusts the shutter speed and flash output based on the lighting. The camera uses a programmed electronic shutter with speeds from 1/2 to 1/250 seconds and includes slow sync for low-light situations. Flash has auto adjustment, with a recycle time of 7 seconds or less, and works in a range of 0.3 to 2.2 meters.

Photos are ejected automatically, and the film develops in about 90 seconds, depending on temperature. It runs on two AA alkaline batteries (LR6) and supports about 10 packs of 10 shots per set. The supplied batteries are for initial use only and should be replaced with new alkaline AA batteries. The camera powers off automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity.

Other features include a film counter and a film pack confirmation window. The camera weighs 345 grams (without batteries and strap) and measures 104.5 mm × 122.5 mm × 67.5 mm.

Sony has launched the FX2 (model ILME-FX2), the latest full-frame camera in its Cinema Line. It’s aimed at independent filmmakers and small crews looking for professional video tools in a compact body. The FX2 shares the same design as the FX3 and FX30 but adds key upgrades based on user feedback.

Full-Frame Sensor and Recording

The FX2 uses a 33MP back-illuminated Exmor R full-frame sensor. It supports up to 15+ stops of dynamic range with S-Log3 and has dual base ISO settings of 800 and 4000. It can go up to ISO 102400 for low-light recording.

Panasonic has added two new full-frame cameras to its LUMIX S Series: the LUMIX S1II and S1IIE. Alongside the cameras, it has also introduced a new standard zoom lens, the LUMIX S 24–60mm F2.8. All three products will be available from late June at official retail partners.

LUMIX S1II: New Sensor, High-Speed Video, and Wide Dynamic Range

The LUMIX S1II features a 24.1MP full-frame partially stacked CMOS sensor combined with the latest Venus Engine. This setup enables fast data processing and supports video formats like 4K 120p, 5.8K 60p, and 5.1K 60p. It also delivers up to 15 stops of dynamic range in V-Log at frame rates below 30p.

For still photography, the camera offers burst shooting at up to 70 frames per second using SH and SH PRE modes. It also supports 10 fps with a mechanical shutter in High-Speed Plus mode. The Open Gate function adds more flexibility, now including 5.1K 60p.

LUMIX S1IIE: Same Build, New Sensor, Cinemascope Format

The LUMIX S1IIE uses a 24.2MP sensor based on the one in the LUMIX S5II. It supports 6K 30p in 3:2 Open Gate format and records 14+ stops of dynamic range in V-Log. It introduces a new 2.4:1 Cinemascope format that records up to 60p with no crop. It keeps the same ergonomic design and layout as the S1II and S1RII.

Shared Features: Autofocus, Stabilization, and Workflow Tools

Both cameras feature Phase Hybrid autofocus with improved subject tracking and face, eye, and body detection. A new Urban Sports mode improves tracking for fast movements like skateboarding or breakdancing. In-body image stabilization offers up to 8 stops of correction and includes cropless video stabilization. Both support internal ProRes RAW HQ and Apple ProRes recording on CFexpress Type B cards. ARRI LogC3 is available with a software upgrade.

They also come with a 5.76 million-dot EVF, a 1.84 million-dot tilt and free-angle touchscreen, dual card slots (SD and CFexpress Type B), and are rated to work at temperatures down to -10°C. Software support includes Capture One, Frame.io, LUMIX Lab, and LUMIX Flow for editing and project management. Future updates will add HEIF format support, waveform monitor, vectorscope, wireless mirroring, and other tools.

LUMIX S 24–60mm F2.8 Lens: Bright, Lightweight, and Video-Ready

The new LUMIX S 24–60mm F2.8 lens offers a constant wide aperture across its zoom range. It is compact and lightweight, weighing only 544 grams. The lens supports a minimum focusing distance of 19 cm and a maximum magnification of 0.3x, making it suitable for both close-ups and portraits.

It features a Dual Phase Linear Motor and a new optical encoder for fast and accurate autofocus. It also includes a focus button on the lens barrel and, for the first time in the S series, lets users reassign the focus ring to control aperture or exposure compensation.

For video, it reduces focus breathing and enables smooth aperture transitions with micro-step control. Manual focus adjustments while zooming are also supported.

Leica has launched the M11-P Safari, a special edition of its M11 series, featuring the signature olive-green finish that’s been part of Leica’s Safari line since the 1970s. The camera keeps all the core features of the M11-P, but adds a few design changes that set it apart.

The top plate is made of solid brass and finished in matte olive-green. The matching green leatherette adds grip and continues the color scheme. The dials and controls on the top and front are silver, and the usual red Leica logo has been replaced with a simple silver screw. The back of the camera has black-finished controls. Other visual details include the engraved Leica script and “Leica Camera AG” with “Wetzlar Germany” text.

The M11-P Safari is identical in performance to the standard M11-P. It has 256 GB of internal storage and supports UHS-II SD cards. It can shoot in both DNG and JPG formats. The LCD screen on the back is covered in scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating for better visibility in bright light.

The camera uses a full-frame BSI CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Technology. Users can shoot at 60, 36, or 18 megapixels. Connectivity includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cable options. Bluetooth Low Energy support lets users transfer images in the background using the Leica FOTOS app.

It also includes Content Credentials technology, which adds tamper-proof metadata to every image. This includes camera model, copyright info, file creation dates, and editing history.

At NAB 2025 in Las Vegas, Blackmagic Design announced the PYXIS 12K, a full-frame digital cinema camera with a 12K RGBW sensor, modular build, and cloud-based workflow tools. It’s priced at $4,995 and will be available in July 2025.

Sensor and Resolution

The PYXIS 12K uses a 36 x 24mm full-frame RGBW sensor—the same one in the URSA Cine 12K LF. It captures 16 stops of dynamic range with low noise and records up to 12,288 x 8,040 resolution. Frame rates include 12K at 40 fps, 8K at 60 fps, and 4K at 112 fps. It supports full-frame 3:2 open-gate recording, uncropped 6:5 anamorphic, and Super 35mm modes. The RGBW layout improves color accuracy and low-light performance.

Build and Lens Options

Made from aerospace aluminum, the PYXIS 12K weighs under 3 pounds. It has multiple 1/4″ and 3/8″ mounting points and works with drones, gimbals, and handheld rigs. Leica Camera AG has unveiled the Leica SL3-S, the latest addition to its SL-System lineup. The SL3-S is the first SL-System camera to feature Content Credentials technology, aligning with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) to establish photo authentication and transparency.

The SL3-S includes a 24 MP BSI-CMOS full-frame sensor with Multi-Shot resolutions of 48 MP and 96 MP. With an ISO range of 50–200,000, the sensor delivers high dynamic range and consistent quality in various lighting conditions.
