The DJI Mini series has long been a go-to choice for travel shooters, content creators, and hobbyists who want great aerial footage without the bulk of larger drones. In 2025, DJI introduced the Mini 5 Pro, seemingly building on the success of the Mini 4 Pro, which itself was a major contender in the compact drone segment when it launched in 2023.

With DJI’s Mini 4 Pro still widely available and highly capable, it raises the question, “Should I upgrade, or is the older model still good enough?” Both drones offer impressive performance in a compact, travel friendly package, but there are clear differences worth checking out. So here’s a quick comparison between the two.

Design & Portability

At first glance, the Mini 5 Pro and Mini 4 Pro share the same compact, foldable form factor and weigh in under 250 grams. This keeps them within the lighter-drone regulatory classes in many regions. This means both are easy to travel with and can often be flown with fewer restrictions than heavier drones.

However, the Mini 5 Pro introduces a few subtle practical improvements: it powers on as soon as the arms unfold, and its quick-release propellers are easier to manage compared with the Mini 4 Pro’s screw-based system. Both remain highly portable, but these small design enhancements make daily use smoother for frequent flyers.

Camera & Imaging

The camera upgrade is one of the clearest reasons to consider the Mini 5 Pro. DJI’s latest model uses a 1-inch sensor capable of capturing 50MP stills and 4K video up to 120fps, whereas the Mini 4 Pro relies on a 1/1.3-inch sensor with 48MP photo and up to 4K/100fps video. In practical terms, the larger sensor on the Mini 5 Pro delivers better dynamic range, cleaner shadows, and less noise in low light, making it more versatile for shooting in challenging lighting conditions.

It also supports a 48mm “med-tele mode” for tighter framing without flying closer to your subject, which makes it ideal for cinematic shots without risky maneuvers. While the Mini 4 Pro still captures excellent footage that satisfies most content creators, the Mini 5 Pro’s imaging advantage is noticeable when you compare side-by-side results, especially in dimmer conditions or high-contrast scenes.

Flight Performance & Features

Both drones provide stable flight, omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, and advanced tracking, but the Mini 5 Pro takes things further in a few key areas:

• Obstacle Avoidance: The Mini 5 Pro combines traditional sensors with a forward-facing LiDAR unit plus enhanced infrared detection. This allows safer navigation in low-light or complex environments compared to the Mini 4 Pro’s standard omnidirectional system.
• Transmission & Stability: Upgraded O4+ video transmission in the Mini 5 Pro offers a more robust live feed and extended range over the standard O4 system on the Mini 4 Pro, helping maintain connection quality in crowded or high-interference areas.
• Flight Time: The 5 Pro can reach up to 52 minutes of flight with the Smart Flight Battery Plus. This offers a couple of minutes higher than the 45 minutes on the Mini 4 Pro.

Altogether, these enhancements make the DJI Mini 5 Pro feel like a more polished and versatile drone that is particularly great for content creators and drone pilots.

Price & Value

While the DJI Mini 5 Pro and Mini 4 Pro are quite similar in terms of initial launch prices, the Mini 4 Pro has been available in the market for longer. So you’ll often find it for discounts and bundled deals. This makes it great for beginners and casual flyers. If pricing is a key concern and you’re mainly shooting for social media or travel clips, the Mini 4 Pro still delivers excellent footage and flight performance for its price.

On the other hand, if you need the best of what DJI has to offer from a compact drone, the Mini 5 Pro is definitely the better pick. In many ways, the Mini 5 Pro is the better drone. It is a proper successor to the Mini 4 Pro, and can be considered a worthy upgrade. However, DJI Mini 4 Pro users might not see a massive update and could consider sticking with the older model if they don’t require some of these professional features.

The post DJI Mini 4 Pro announced with omnidirectional obstacle sensing, 4K 100fps slow-mo appeared first on Gizmochina.

The DJI Mini 4 Pro launch is just around the corner, and a last-minute leak from Roland Quandt and WinFuture has revealed a number of photos and most of the technical details about the drone. So let’s talk about it here.

DJI Mini 4 Pro Rumored Specifications

According to the tipster, the upcoming DJI Mini 4 Pro will have different flight times in Europe and other parts of the world. That is to comply with the 249-gram weight limit in Europe and the UK, DJI will ship the Mini 4 Pro with a smaller battery in these regions. This battery will have a capacity of 2,590 mAh and will provide a flight time of up to 34 minutes.

In other parts of the world, DJI will ship the drone with a larger battery with a capacity of 3,850 mAh. This battery will provide a flight time of up to 45 minutes. There will also be an extended battery pack, but it will not be available in Europe since it exceeds the maximum weight limit for drones that do not require a permit.

The upcoming DJI Mini 4 Pro drone is expected to feature a number of notable improvements over the previous model, including omnidirectional obstacle sensing. While the Mini 3 Pro had obstacle avoidance, it was only protected from the front, back, and bottom. The Mini 4 Pro, on the other hand, is rumored to have sensors on all sides, which would allow for more active tracking modes similar to those found on the DJI Air 3 and Mavic 3 Pro drones.

In addition, the drone is expected to come with a 48-megapixel camera sensor in a 1/1.3-inch format with dual native ISO, a maximum aperture size of F/1.7, and a 0.6-micrometer pixel edge length. DJI will use pixel binning to collect more image data, achieve a higher dynamic range, and bring out details in highlights and shadows.

Moreover, it will be able to record in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. It also has a new 100 FPS mode with 4K resolution and HDR, which can be used to create slow-motion recordings. The new drone will also offer 10-bit D-Log M and HLG color profiles for more flexibility in post-processing. For data transmission, the drone will use the DJI RC-2 controller that supports 1080p video at 60 FPS being sent up to 20 kilometers away.

The DJI Mini 4 Pro will be released on September 25th for a rumored price of €799, or €1,129 with the Fly More Combo accessories and an RC remote controller.

The post Here are the technical specifications of the upcoming DJI Mini 4 Pro appeared first on Gizmochina.

DJI continues to expand its product line. The company’s upcoming product is the Mini 4 Pro, which incorporates many of the new features introduced in the larger DJI Air 3. There have been rumors about this eagerly anticipated drone for a while. For instance, we had recently informed you that the DJI Mini 4 Pro would come with the highest safety rating yet. Now, we have official marketing images of the drone ahead of its launch. Here are the details…

DJI Mini 4 Pro, Technology of the DJI Air 3 in a smaller package

The upcoming Mini 4 Pro will be released in the coming days and is expected to start at $849 in several variants, slightly lower than the price of the larger Air 3. In Europe, the battery with a 2590mAh capacity and up to 34 minutes of flight time is likely to be used in a small variant, while a larger 3850mAh battery is expected to be used in other regions, which will provide longer flight times.

According to the specifications for the new Mini drone from DJI, which have been circulated in advance based on various leaks, the Mini 4 Pro will feature a 48-megapixel camera sensor mounted on a gimbal. Unlike previous models, up to 20 kilometers of range is possible with Full HD video transmission. DJI is also expected to offer up to 100 frames per second for 4K video recording. New camera sensors on the drone’s body also enable omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, which was not possible on the previous model.

As with its other models, DJI plans to market the Mini 4 Pro in a range of different controller combinations. In addition to the basic version with a simple controller, packages with the RC-N1 controller, the DJI RC-2 controller, and Fly-More combos with DJI RC-2 are expected, with prices ranging up to $1199.

Interestingly, the larger battery is also expected to be offered as an option in Europe, according to dealer information. However, using the larger battery will result in the drone exceeding the maximum weight of 249 grams, which requires a special permit in many countries for operation of drones above this weight limit. The Mini 4 Pro is expected to be released in the coming days.

DJI is reportedly gearing up to launch the Mini 4 Pro, a successor to the popular Mini 3 Pro drone. While DJI has not yet confirmed the existence of the Mini 4 Pro, new leaks continue to surface about it, suggesting that DJI is closing the announcement of the Mini 4 Pro.

The leak comes from the tipster @quadro_news who recently shared photos of the DJI Mini 4 Pro, showing it with the RC 2 controller. This confirms that the Mini 4 Pro will support OcuSync 4.0 image transmission, unlike the Mini 3 Pro.

OcuSync 4.0, which was first introduced with the DJI Air 3, extends image transmission to a theoretical 20 km maximum at a 1080p peak resolution. This means that users will be able to fly the Mini 4 Pro further and with more reliable video transmission.

In addition to OcuSync 4.0 support, the DJI Mini 4 Pro is also expected to feature 360-degree obstacle detection, which will make it safer and easier to fly. The drone is also rumored to have an improved camera sensor that can support HDR video and slow-motion video recordings at up to 4K and 100 FPS.

In terms of other features, it is expected to have a 48MP camera, a significant upgrade over the 12MP camera on the previous model. The camera will also have an f/1.7 aperture, which will let in more light for better low-light performance.

In addition to the leaked photos, a European pricing list for the Mini 4 Pro has also been circulating online. The pricing list suggests that the Mini 4 Pro will be slightly more expensive than the Mini 3 Pro, but still under the $1,000 mark.

While DJI has not yet confirmed the existence of the Mini 4 Pro, the leaked photos and pricing information suggest that the launch is imminent.
