FIMI Technology, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, recently unveiled the FIMI Manta VTOL drone, which is now available for purchase in China. The drone is priced at 1399 yuan ($191) and comes in a PNP-FC version package, including a flight controller, electronic speed controller (ESC), and GPS.

FIMI Manta VTOL drone key features:

The drone has a special design that looks like a flying wing, with a Y3 shape and rotors that can tilt. This lets it hover like a helicopter and fly efficiently like an airplane. It can also take off and land vertically. The drone boasts an impressive flight time of up to 85 minutes and weighs around 500 grams.

The FIMI Manta drone features a modular design focused on simple assembly and part replacement. It utilizes a four-link tilt structure with locking mechanisms, along with metal gear servos and all-metal rocker arms, providing both durability and easy maintenance.

The drone incorporates a roomy battery compartment that accommodates different battery types such as 3S1p18650, 4S1p18650, and 3S1p21700. It features a versatile equipment bay that supports both analog and high-definition transmission. Additionally, the drone can be equipped with FIMI’s G21 Pro three-axis gimbal camera for improved video recording capabilities.

According to IT Home, public opinions on the “FIMI Manta VTOL” drone are divided. Some users believe that the assembly cost is relatively steep, indicating that while the drone boasts professional design and features, it might not fully satisfy experienced enthusiasts.

On the other hand, different voices suggest that despite its higher price, FIMI’s new drone could have a positive impact on the DIY drone sector by introducing innovative perspectives and possible advancements.
