Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A24 last month in Vietnam. Since then, the company has been releasing this budget smartphone in multiple markets.

Today, the firm debuted this handset in its home country South Korea. It will be available for purchase starting tomorrow (May 19) for KRW 396,000 (~$300).

The Korean variant of the Galaxy A24 is unlike any other version of the phone. Because it comes with a useful feature, which Samsung removed from its smartphones in 2021.

The feature we are talking about is MST-enabled Samsung Pay. For the unaware, MST stands for Magnetic Secure Transmission and this feature mimics card swipe action on any PoS terminal.

Thus, older Samsung smartphones with Samsung Pay could be used to make transactions on non-NFC PoS machines too. The South Korean electronics giant removed this feature starting with the Galaxy S21 series as NFC-enabled PoS terminals can be now found almost everywhere.

It’s not known whether the return of MST feature will be limited to Korea or will be re-introduced in more markets. It would be nice to have this feature in other markets.

Anyways, the Galaxy A24 will be sold in Black, Light Green, and Dark Red color options in South Korea. As part of launch offers, the company is providing a 2-month free trial of YouTube Premium and a free Microsoft 365 Basic subscription for 6 months.

Some of the specs of the Galaxy A24 include a 6.5-inch 90Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a MediaTek Helio G99 chip, an OIS-assisted 50MP primary camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, and 25W fast wired charging support.

Samsung is doing everything it can to boost sales of the Galaxy A24, which it recently launched in Malaysia. However, it seems that the features of this $200 phone are not enough for the company. Therefore, it’s attempting to present the virtual RAM feature differently to consumers. In marketing materials, the phone, which has 8GB of real and 8GB of virtual RAM, is shown as having 16GB of RAM. Unfortunately, this tends to increase people’s expectations of the device and has a tendency to mislead consumers.

Despite Samsung being a long-standing leader in the smartphone market, its position is not guaranteed. Therefore, it must constantly introduce new products and increase both its sales and profitability by marketing them correctly. Regrettably, it should also refrain from telling falsehoods in the process. Of course, the word “lie” in this scenario is somewhat strong.

Because technically, with the RAM Plus software, you can indeed convert some of the storage space into virtual RAM. However, this does not justify marketing the Galaxy A24 in such a manner. Moreover, this is unfair to the device, which comes with decent technical specifications for its price.

Samsung launched the Galaxy A34 and A54 on Wednesday as its latest mid-range handsets. The two phones sit below the flagship S23 series and feature an immersive display. The company apparently has another A series handset in the works as it has been making rounds on various certification sites recently. The handset could be called the Galaxy A24 and today a report has shared its specifications along with some colorful renders.

Israeli Publication Gadgety has leaked the renders of the new Galaxy A24 4G in 4 colors— black, silver, red-burgundy, and lemon-green. The design of the device is not very different from the newly launched Galaxy A34. It has three camera rings on the back and a flat display on the front. The screen has thick bezels and features a waterdrop notch. The smartphone is reported to be 8.3 inches thick and weigh 195 grams.

As per the report, the Galaxy A24 will feature a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits of brightness. It will come with Vision Booster technology, which is claimed to not only make the screen brighter but also maintain better color accuracy. The handset may be equipped with a Snapdragon 680 SoC processor, paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.

It could come with a microSD slot to help you expand the storage up to 1TB. The handset is reported to feature a 3.5mm headphone, which is now a rare sight on Samsung phones. It is expected to be equipped with a 5000mAh battery and support 25W charging.

In the camera department, the Galaxy A24 may get a 13MP selfie camera (aperture f/2.0) and three rear cameras, including a 50MP main camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) and f/1.8 aperture. A 5MP wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture may also be present.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A23 5G in August last year for the global market. It was made official in the previous market. A couple of reports have revealed that the company is already working on the Galaxy A24 series. In a new report, TheTechOutlook has leaked the renders of the device.

Shown below is the black variant of the Galaxy A24 5G. The front side of the device features a waterdrop notch display, which seems to be integrated with a fingerprint scanner. A SIM slot is seen on its left side, whereas its right has a volume rocker and a power key.

The back panel of the device has three protruding camera rings with an LED flash. Apart from black, it will also arrive in other shades, such as dark red, light green, and silver. Users can visit the source link for the 360-degree renders of the Galaxy A24.

Like the Galaxy A23 series, the Galaxy A24 may arrive in 4G and 5G editions. The leaked renders seem to belong to the 4G version of the device. It may arrive with a 6.4-inch AMOLED FHD+ display, a Helio G99 chipset, and 4 GB of RAM. The handset will come preinstalled with the Android 13 OS with One UI on top.

The Galaxy A24 may feature a 50-megapixel (main) + 5-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit, and an 8-megapixel or a 13-megapixel selfie camera. It may pack a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. There is no word on the launch date of the A24. Hopefully, the upcoming reports will reveal more details about the device.

For a while, Samsung has been using a quad-camera setup on most of its Galaxy A series smartphones. According to a new report from South Korea, this may change starting next year. The report details the rear camera system of the three upcoming Galaxy A lineup handsets.

A report by The Elec says that Samsung will drop depth cameras from three of its Galaxy A series phones in 2023. These devices are nothing but Galaxy A24, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A54.

The aforementioned smartphones are tipped to come with a triple camera setup consisting of a wide-angle camera, ultra-wide camera, and a macro camera. All of them are said to come with a 50MP main sensor and a 5MP macro snapper.

Interestingly, the Galaxy A54 is said to carry a 5MP ultrawide unit instead of an 8MP ultra-wide as Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A24. This is likely a typo since we don’t expect the company to use an inferior camera sensor on a more expensive model.

The report says that the South Korean electronics giant is collectively readying over 60 million units of these smartphones for next year. The Galaxy A34 is expected to release in March, followed by Galaxy A54 in April.

Market research firm TrendForce says that consumers have little use for depth-sensing cameras. Hence, Samsung is planning to drop depth cameras as it also helps in reducing costs.

It is said that the demand for a quad-camera system is forecasted to drop as companies will do away with the depth cameras on their handsets. Most phones are expected to carry a triple camera setup in the future.
