<p>A report by MyDrivers says that JD.com opened the sale of the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mate-40-series">Huawei Mate 40 series</a> at 18:00 China time on October 30. Accordingly, all the devices got <a href="https://news.mydrivers.com/1/721/721450.htm">sold out</a> in just 11 seconds. And if the report is true, the first sale recorded 100 million sales in just 8 seconds on Jingdong. Similarly, Tmall&#8217;s sales clocked a record time of 20 seconds. To celebrate the insane response for Huawei&#8217;s new smartphones, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Jingdong">JD.com</a> flew hundreds of drones over its HQ last night.</p>
<p>The report says that hundreds of drones lined up in the drone show to form words like &#8220;JDxHuawei&#8221;, &#8220;<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-9000">Kirin 9000</a>&#8220;. And shapes of Mate 40 series camera ring, and more. you can take a look at them below:</p>

<p>Apparently, there was a 600% increase in opting for the one-hour quick service while buying these devices. The e-commerce company also has offers like a one-hour service, a 30-day return policy, a one-year battery replacement, trade-in. Additionally, people who by the RS Porsche Design will get JZD customized services, special vehicles with prioritized in-line delivery.</p>
<h4><strong>Offline pre-orders: Huawei stores</strong></h4>
<p>That said, another report <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/516/884.htm">says</a> many models of the Huawei Mate 40 series are already out of stock. A visit by China Security news reveals pre-orders on the Shanghai Official Huawei store are open only for White, Black versions of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40-pro/">Mate 40 Pro</a>. However, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40-pro-plus/">Mate 40 Pro+</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40-rs-porsche-design/">RS Porsche Design</a> are out of stock.</p>
<p>A similar situation prevails for official/experience stores in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and many others. Also, the models, which can be pre-ordered, don&#8217;t have an exact delivery date. And two of Huawei Authorized stores in Beijing have gone to the extent of suspending the reservations of the series.</p>
<p>As per a staff in the Chengdu store, huge supply scarcity is due to very early bookings that go as far as July/August. Looks like Huawei is crushing it with initial sales, and we will have to wait for a bit to know the exact sale numbers.</p>

A few days back, Huawei&#8217;s CEO hinted at a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/28/huawei-mate-40-series-china-special-feature/">special feature</a> coming to Chinese variants. Today, at the launch event, Richard Yu of Huawei announced that Mate 40 series will be the first smartphone to have a hardware wallet for China&#8217;s digital currency(DCEP).</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-350245" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 40 Pro featured" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-hands-on-5-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<h4></h4>
<p>Accordingly, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mate-40-series">Huawei Mate 40 series</a> supports(via <a href="https://decrypt.co/46706/new-huawei-smartphone-includes-a-hardware-wallet-for-the-digital-yuan">Decrypt</a>) an in-built hardware wallet for <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/china-dcep">China&#8217;s DC/EP</a>(Digital RMB). Here DC is Digital Currency, and EP is Electronic Payment. Besides, China&#8217;s Central Bank Digital Currency, the digital Yuan is reportedly under development since 2014. Further, Huawei CEO said that the device will offer hardware-level security along with anonymous protection, and dual-offline transactions.</p>
<p>Simply put, users can use the device as a digital wallet and shop at multiple outlets in the country. Interestingly, they can also initiate transactions when they are offline. As per Huawei&#8217;s Offical Weibo account, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-wallet">Huawei Wallet</a> is supported at 16 million+ PoS(Point of Sales) terminals, and 130+ banks(English translated). However, it is unclear if users can swap their bank savings to this wallet. That said, the announcement comes at a time when the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chinese-government">Chinese Government</a> is pushing digital currency to the public. And conducting trials of the same.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-351189" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-digital-wallet.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1059" height="750" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-digital-wallet.jpg 1059w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-digital-wallet-300x212.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-digital-wallet-768x544.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-digital-wallet-1024x725.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-digital-wallet-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-digital-wallet-696x493.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-digital-wallet-593x420.jpg 593w" sizes="(max-width: 1059px) 100vw, 1059px" /></p>
<p>Besides, Huawei has also been actively involving with the government to promote digital currency in China. Earlier this year, it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/14/huawei-partners-with-the-chinese-government-to-boost-blockchain-adoption/">signed an agreement</a> with Govt. of Nanshan District of Shenzhen, Southeast China. This was to strengthen the country&#8217;s Digital Currency economy. And collaborate with the People’s Bank of China to begin the testing of its own virtual currency in Shenzhen.</p>
<h4><strong>China&#8217;s rigorous push for DCEP</strong></h4>
<p>Reports say that <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/shenzhen">Shenzhen</a>&#8216;s Luohu District stimulated around 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) to public citizens to pilot test the digital currency and promote DCEP. Accordingly, 50,000 initial recipients got the DCEP through a lottery system. And made to use it across 3,389 merchants including restaurants, gas stations, metro, and more.</p>
<p>As per the system, there will be a DCEP wallet developed by commercial banks like China&#8217;s Central Bank, People&#8217;s Bank of China. Users can avail these lotteries by downloading the DCEP wallet of the respective banks. Before this, nearly 2 million people signed up for the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/digital-yuan">Digital yuan</a> Experiment. And 50,000 of them reportedly got a 200 yuan gift envelope.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-349491" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate40-renders-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="500" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate40-renders-2.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate40-renders-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate40-renders-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate40-renders-2-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></p>
<p>Tipster Ishan Agarwal says(via <a href="https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_mate_30e_pro_to_have_kirin_990e_chip_rs_colors_leaked_ahead_of_event-news-45920.php">GSMArena</a>), Huawei will launch a new Mate30E Pro along with the Mate40 series today. He says, the new device will be identical to the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-30-pro">Mate30 Pro</a> from last year. However, it will have an upgraded Kirin 990E SoC. There&#8217;s no info on what&#8217;s going to be the difference between Kirin 990 and 990E.</p>
<p>Anyways, This is really interesting as the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mate-40-series">Mate40 series </a>will have a punch-hole display up front, and a circular camera layout on the rear. Whereas, the Mate30 Pro has an older notch-style display but. The older flagship from 2019 has a 6.53-inch OLED display, Kirin 990 SoC, 4,400mAh battery with 44W HUAWEI SuperCharge. The rear cameras have two 40MP lenses, 8MP Telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 3D depth-sensing camera. At the front, it has a 32MP f/2.0 lens and a 3D depth sensor.</p>
<h4><strong>Mate40 Pro+ and Porsche Design RS New details</strong></h4>
<p>Regarding the Huawei Mate40 Porsche Design RS, Ishan <a href="https://twitter.com/ishanagarwal24/status/1319188707388215298">says</a> it will come in three colors- Ceramic White, Ceramic Black, and a new Collectors Edition. Further, he says the device will have Kirin 9000 SoC with 12GB RAM. That said the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/17/huawei-mate-40-pro-plus-porsche-design-colors-storage-variants/">earlier leak</a> revealed the storage options to be 256 and 512GB.</p>
<p>Anyway, regarding the specs, the Mate40 Pro+ and Porsche Design RS seems to share a lot in common. We <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/20/huawei-mate-40-series-price-expected-specs-renders-ahead-of-october-22-launch/">already know</a> most of that but Ishan has a few interesting details. He says both the device will have a 90Hz display with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The Mate40 Pro+ will be 8.8mm thick and weigh 230g while the Porsche Design RS will measure 10.1mm thick and weigh 234g.</p>
<p>Furthermore, he says both the devices will have 66W wired charging and can charge the 4,400mAh battery in just 47 minutes. They will also have a 50W Wireless Charging and 5W Reverse Wireless Charging. Other features include IP68 rating, Stereo Speakers, an IR sensor, and EMUI 11.</p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/19/huawei-nova-8-series-likely-to-launch-in-november/">Huawei Nova 8 series likely to launch in November</a></strong></h6>
<p>For cameras, he lists four main lenses- 50MP F/1.9 SuperSensing Wide lens with OIS, 20MP F/2.4 Movie Camera, a 12MP F/2.4 Telephoto lens with OIS, an 8MP F/4.4 SuperZoom 10X Optical, Upto 100X Digital with OIS, and a 3D Camera. He says RS edition will support 8K recording as well. This is slightly different to earlier leak which said the devices will have two 8MP sensors.</p>
<p>At the front, there are two 13MP SuperSensing F/2.4 and 3D sensor with face unlocking.</p>
<h4><strong>Mate40 series Renders</strong></h4>
<p>Tipster evleaks has gone a step ahead to <a href="https://app.voice.com/post/@evan/this-is-the-huawei-mate40-series-1603361496-1">reveal</a> the entire press renders of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/17/leak-reveals-huawei-mate-40-pros-press-renders-and-key-specs-packs-50mp-leica-triple-cameras/">Mate40 series</a>. <p>So to clear it up one last time, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mate-40-series">Huawei Mate 40 series</a> will have 4 models as per recent leaks. However, a few rumors say that the first one of the list will be delayed a bit. The models are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Huawei Mate 40</li>
<li>Huawei Mate 40 Pro</li>
<li>Huawei Mate 40 Pro+</li>
<li>Huawei Mate 40 Porsche Design RS</li>
</ul>
<h4><strong>Huawei Mate 40 Series Expected Design</strong></h4>
<p>Going by the earlier leaks and rumors so far, we feel the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, and Pro+ will share a similar design with a circular ring at the back. At the front though, all of them are likely ramping up to ditch the old bath-tub notch on the Mate 30 series with a dual <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/punch-hole-display">punch-hole</a> curved display.</p>
<p>However, the Porsche RS design will likely have an octagonal camera layout at the back. Apart from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/17/back-panel-of-huawei-mate-40-rs-porsche-design-leaked-will-cost-e2000/">leaked</a> designs, the company&#8217;s latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/14/huawei-mate-40-series-official-poster-reveals-octagonal-camera-module/">official teaser</a> itself hints at it. For the build, we can expect a metal frame sandwiched between Corning Gorilla Glass on either side. The Porsche design will reportedly have a &#8220;Porsche Design&#8221; and &#8220;Huawei&#8221; Logo on the rear panel. The possible color variants are mentioned below:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Huawei Mate 40</strong> &#8211; Atleast Black, White(expected)</li>
<li><strong>Huawei Mate 40 Pro</strong>&#8211; Black, Silver/Gray, Yellowish Orange, Green, White</li>
<li><strong>Huawei Mate 40 Pro+</strong> &#8211; White, Black</li>
<li><strong>Huawei Mate 40 Porsche Design RS</strong>&#8211; White, Black</li>
</ul>
<h4><strong>Huawei Mate 40 series Expected Specifications</strong></h4>
<p>Previously, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mate-30-pro">Mate 30 Pro models</a> including the Porsche design had a slightly smaller display compared to the Vanilla Mate 30. Going by this, since we don&#8217;t exactly know the display specs of the Mate 40, we think it&#8217;s somewhere around the 6.76-inch that&#8217;s probably coming on both Pro, Pro+, and maybe the Porsche design as well. That said, we can expect an AMOLED curved display, at least FHD+ resolution(2722&#215;1344 pixels on Pro), <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/16/huawei-mate-40-video-teaser-suggests-a-90hz-refresh-rate-onboard/">90Hz refresh rate</a>.</p>
<p>Under the hood, recent leaks reveal that all of them could feature <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-9000">Kirin 9000 SoC</a> onboard. This is a 5nm Octa-core chipset with an ARM&#8217;s Cortex-A77 likely as the prime core. It will probably have a clock speed of 3.13GHz, three other A77 cores at 2.04GHz, and 4xlow-performance cores. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/20/huawei-kirin-9000-24-core-gpu/">Mali-G78 GPU with 24-cores</a> and an integrated 5G Modem are expected to tag along.</p>
<h4><strong>Mate 40 series Camera</strong></h4>
<p>Now, for cameras, leaks so far say the Mate 40 Pro has a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/17/leak-reveals-huawei-mate-40-pros-press-renders-and-key-specs-packs-50mp-leica-triple-cameras/">triple-camera</a>, but <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/15/huawei-mate-40-pro-hexa-camera-professional-video/">Penta-lens</a> on the Pro+, and Porsche design RS. The design is likely a circular ring on Mate 40, Pro, Pro+ while the Porsche design, as usual, has a different cutout(Octagon this time).</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-349049" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-camera-layout.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="800" height="210" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-camera-layout.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-camera-layout-300x79.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-camera-layout-768x202.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/mate-40-camera-layout-696x183.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The camera sensors of vanilla Mate 40 is a mystery. However, both the Pro models and the Porsche design will get an upgrade from the 40MP sensor on the Mate 30 Pro and have</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/19/huawei-mate-40-distortion-free-wide-angle-lens/"> <span style="font-weight: 400">distortion-free ultra-wide</span></a>, <span style="font-weight: 400"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/12/huawei-mate-40-camera-sample-promises-a-top-notch-zoom-capability/">different zoom lenses</a>, and more. All of them get a Color Temperature sensor, LED flash as common. Let&#8217;s take a look at them below:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Mate 40 Pro</strong> &#8211; 50MP Sony IMX700Y, 20MP Sony IMX718 ultra-wide, 12MP Sony 5x Optical IMX351Y, a laser-focus sensor.</li>
<li><strong>Mate 40 Pro+</strong> -50MP Sony IMX700Y, 20MP Sony IMX718 ultra-wide, 8MP 3x optical(mid-range), 8MP 10x optical(both Sony IMX520), a ToF sensor</li>
<li><strong>Mate 40 Porsche design RS</strong>&#8211; (same sensors of Mate 40 Pro+), and a temperature measurement sensor.</li>
</ul>
<h4><strong>Storage, Other features, and Price</strong></h4>
<p>That said, across the variants, we can expect Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, SA/NSA 5G with HMS, GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS for connectivity. Leaks show the device will run Android 10 instead of 11 with EMUI 11 on top. A Battery leak on the Mate 40 Pro suggests, all the Pro variants including Porsche design will likely have a 4,400mAh battery with 65W charging via Type-C, and Wireless charging.</p>
<p>Storage-wise, leaks say Mate 40 Pro has 8/256GB, 8/512GB variants while Pro+. And Porsche design has 12GB RAM, and 256GB on Pro+, and 256/512GB on Porsche design respectively.</p>
<p>As for the price, Mate 40 Pro is said to start at 1100€, Pro+ at 1400€, and Porsche design RS at €2500 (vs €2095 of the predecessor).</p>
