<p>Technology, just as it simplifies our lives, can also introduce new problems. For example, &#8220;motion sickness&#8221;, a nuisance today, was a concern that no one had to deal with 100 years ago. For those unfamiliar, motion sickness is a feeling of nausea, dizziness, and vomiting that can occur when traveling in a car, boat, plane, or other moving vehicles. It can also be experienced during amusement park rides or in virtual reality settings. Now, Huawei has released an anti-motion sickness patent aimed at completely eliminating this issue. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei&#8217;s motion sickness prevention system could be a game-changer for VR</strong></h2>

<p>Motion sickness occurs when the brain receives conflicting information from the vestibular, visual, and proprioceptive systems. For example, when someone is riding in a car, their eyes may see the car interior as stationary, but their vestibular system will sense the car&#8217;s movement. This conflict can lead to symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. Fortunately, Huawei has released a patent for a new system that could help to prevent motion sickness.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="600" height="475" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/huawei-anti-motion-sickness-system-patent.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-570203" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/huawei-anti-motion-sickness-system-patent.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/huawei-anti-motion-sickness-system-patent-300x238.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/huawei-anti-motion-sickness-system-patent-531x420.png 531w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure></div>

<p>The system works by generating real-time images of the vehicle&#8217;s movement relative to the road or ground. These images are then displayed on the vehicle&#8217;s infotainment system, allowing passengers to see themselves moving along with the vehicle. This helps to reduce or eliminate the conflict between visual and vestibular signals, which is the main cause of motion sickness.</p>

<p>Huawei&#8217;s motion sickness prevention system would address this conflict by providing passengers with accurate visual information about the vehicle&#8217;s movement. This would allow passengers to &#8220;follow the body with their eyes,&#8221; which could help to prevent or reduce the symptoms of motion sickness.</p>

<p>The system is still in the patent stage, and it is not yet known when it will be available in vehicles. However, the technology has the potential to be a major breakthrough in the fight against motion sickness. Especially considering the increase in popularity of AR/VR technology.</p>

This patent is for a game controller, which is designed to work with a VR headset to allow users to control their actions in virtual reality.</p>
<p>According to an <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/549/840.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>ITHome</em> </a>report, the Chinese tech giant was awarded that patent earlier this week and carried the patent number CN306513655S. In the patent application, a brief description can also be observed, which reads tha the product in the patents is a &#8220;Gamepad&#8221; and is purpose is to primarily be used for offering &#8220;controler in VR games or achieve other interactions in a virtual setting. The patent also arrives with certain sketches and 3D renders of this VR controller as well.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-388019 " src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/36f56706-63ea-4f47-ab71-6aefe8be2aca.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" width="571" height="570" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/36f56706-63ea-4f47-ab71-6aefe8be2aca.jpg 820w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/36f56706-63ea-4f47-ab71-6aefe8be2aca-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/36f56706-63ea-4f47-ab71-6aefe8be2aca-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/36f56706-63ea-4f47-ab71-6aefe8be2aca-768x767.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/36f56706-63ea-4f47-ab71-6aefe8be2aca-696x695.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/36f56706-63ea-4f47-ab71-6aefe8be2aca-421x420.jpg 421w" sizes="(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px" /></p>
<p>Looking at these images, the game controller carries a relatively common design that can also be found with other VR based controllers. On the front it offers three buttons along with a joystick, which is likely for movement based controls and more. On the right side of the product, there is another mechanism that is visible, which might be another button or have some other function that is unclear at the moment. The Chinese tech giant has already ventured into VR technology with related headsets, so it is likely working on new controllers as well.</p>

The first-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2016/11/14/huawei-vr-glasses-announced-360-fov-mate-9-support-%c2%a5599-88-price-tag/">Huawei VR glasses was launched around November 2016</a> offering a 360° FOV, Mate 9 Support and was priced at ¥599 (~$88).<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/huawei-vr.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-166166" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/huawei-vr.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei VR 2" width="600" height="312" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/huawei-vr.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/huawei-vr-300x156.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>This latest Huawei VR2 headset was first announced on October 20 in China during the launch of the Mate 10 series for the home market and the price is way more than that of the first-gen as it is priced at 1,999 Yuan (~$307). This slightly high price tag is due to the fact that the Huawei VR2 is a standalone unit similar to Oculus and Vive. You won&#8217;t need to slide in a compatible smartphone to view, rather you connect the phone, tablet or PC to the gadget via a USB Type-C port. This gives users access to the virtual worlds in 3K. For the avoidance of doubt, the VR2 comes with a resolution of  1,600 x 1,440 per eye and has a 90Hz refresh rate which should help reduce eye strain and motion sickness.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/huawei-vr-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-166167" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/huawei-vr-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei VR2" width="600" height="224" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/huawei-vr-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/huawei-vr-2-300x112.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>During the presentation of the Huawei VR2 headset at CES 2018, Huawei&#8217;s CEO Yu Chengdong disclosed that on January 25, the VR2 will debut with support for IMAX virtual giant screen video experience in China. That is to say, it would go on sale on January 25 in China. The headset can display virtual size of a 22-meter giant screen and brings along 3D audio. Huawei is said to have got the exclusive license for IMAX VR / AR, IMAX Virtual Cinema. Huawei&#8217;s CEO also hinted that the company will establish extensive cooperation with IMAX and DTS to create IMAX immersion-based experience on Huawei AR / VR gadgets.</p>

<p>In addition, the VR2 also supports Fast LCD display and support for dynamic rendering technology to make the game more fluid. In terms of compatibility, Huawei VR 2 supports multi-terminal access, including Huawei Mate 10 handsets and notebook computers. You also get a massive VR application content on the Huawei Video App whose duration is said to have exceeded 20,000 hours.</p>

But those were not the only devices launched, as in a move similar to what Xiaomi did during the Mi Note 2 launch, the company announced its own VR glasses called Huawei VR.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-106741 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-VR.png?x10805" alt="Huawei VR" width="610" height="339" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-VR.png 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-VR-300x167.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The Huawei VR is not entirely new as it surfaced earlier this year at the Huawei P9 launch. It kind of looks like a white Galaxy VR with straps that go over and around the head, touch controls on the side, and a focus ring on the top.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The Huawei VR has a 360° field of view, 2K support, and sound synchronization. The glasses will work with 5.5&#8221; devices such as the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, Mate 9 Porsche Design, and <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/04/06/huawei-p9-officially-announced-with-12mp-dual-cameras-from-leica/">Huawei P9 Plus</a>. There is no mention of it working with the 5.2&#8221; <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p9/">Huawei P9</a> but the prototype displayed earlier this year worked with the P9. So you might want to confirm that before buying.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-106740 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-VR-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei VR" width="610" height="407" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-VR-2.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-VR-2-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Huawei says they already have close to 5000+ free movies, hundreds of panoramic videos and a number of games that you can watch and play on the Huawei VR. The Huawei VR is priced at ¥599 ($88) and should be available for purchase anytime soon.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The company also launched a smart cover, a Leica leather case, and a Porsche Design smart cover as well.</p>

Google has however stated that most top phones in the market are unlikely to qualify for Daydream support as they want to set a high standard. Huawei&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/04/27/new-nexus-6p-snapdragon-820-android-7-0-spotted/">Nexus 6P</a>  is however recommended for DIY developers of Daydream.<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-83874" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store.jpg?x10805" alt="huawei-store logo" width="1200" height="806" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store-300x202.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store-768x516.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/huawei-sign-logo-store-1024x688.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>With this new development, the head of Huawei&#8217;s CEO , Richard Yu, mentioned in an interview with Wall Street Journal that the tech giant will launch a new Daydream supported phone during the fall as well.</p>
<p>He also mentioned that the company&#8217;s partnership with German optics specialist, Leica, which resulted in the birth of the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/04/06/huawei-p9-officially-announced-with-12mp-dual-cameras-from-leica/">Huawei P9</a>, is expected to go on for the next five years.</p>
<p>Another important info Mr. Yu divulged during the interview is the company&#8217;s plans to start offering phones via US carriers, stating that plans are already in motion for that to begin.</p>
<p>Now the question is if consumers will be willing to put on hold getting new phones till Daydream supported ones are announced?</p>
