These solutions will not only be catering to people&#8217;s ever-growing needs but also bring along new experiences set to redefine the way people do ordinary tasks in their daily lives.</p>
<h4><strong>OLED.EX technology</strong></h4>
<p>This year&#8217;s showstopper is LG Display&#8217;s new OLED.EX tech for OLED TVs that promises an improved photo quality and viewing experience. OLED.EX is an acronym for &#8216;Evolution&#8217; and &#8216;eXperience&#8217; and lives up to it with improvements like a 30% boost in brightness and reduction of bezel width from 6mm to 4mm. The tech will be integrated with every LG OLED TV display starting from the second quarter of 2022.</p>
<h4><strong>Transparent OLED displays</strong></h4>
<p>LG is also going big on transparent OLED displays with an aim of bridging the gap between online and physical spaces. The company&#8217;s Transparent OLED boasts transparency high enough to replace regular glass that too with little to no compromise on picture quality.</p>
<figure id="attachment_434740" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-434740" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-434740 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/lg-transparent-oled-display-1024x621.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="696" height="422" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/lg-transparent-oled-display-1024x621.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/lg-transparent-oled-display-300x182.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/lg-transparent-oled-display-768x466.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/lg-transparent-oled-display-696x422.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/lg-transparent-oled-display-1068x648.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/lg-transparent-oled-display-692x420.jpg 692w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/lg-transparent-oled-display.jpg 1704w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-434740" class="wp-caption-text">LG Display&#8217;s Smart Window</figcaption></figure>
<p>Such displays have also been stated to be quite slim and light, allowing for them to get utilized across a wide range of scenarios. There is &#8216;Show Window&#8217; for shopping malls, &#8216;Smart Window&#8217; for offices, Transparent OLED for subway trains, and &#8216;OLED Shelf&#8217; that can transform any home interior into a living space.</p>
<h4><strong>Other OLED innovations</strong></h4>
<p>Another innovation is &#8216;Virtual Ride&#8217;, which is basically an indoor stationary bicycle with three vertically-curved 55-inch OLED displays in front of and above it. It allows cyclists to carry out their favorite activity while being in the comfort of their homes.</p>
<p>Other tech that will be showcased at CES 2022 includes Gaming OLED displays with response time 10 times faster than regular LCD displays, and of course, the almost entirely crease-free 17-inch Foldable OLED for laptops. The latter comes with the company&#8217;s touchscreen solutions, allowing usage by fingers and pen.</p>
<h4><strong>IPS Black</strong></h4>
<p>The biggest downside of LCD displays, when compared to AMOLED, is that they lack deep blacks. LG has been working on a solution for this and is set to demonstrate its &#8216;IPS Black&#8217; tech through a 27-inch UHD monitor at CES 2022. The technology promises 35 percent darker blacks than existing IPS products along with lowering the level of blue light significantly. It also comes with a near-borderless design.</p>

The patent, which has now been published by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), contain images which illustrates what the phone&#8217;s design could be.</p>
<p>The patent, which is titled &#8220;Mobile Terminal&#8221;, shows that along with dual displays, the smartphone also contains dual batteries and dual headphone jack. The display is curved around the edges, which can be used to show time, date, as well as other notifications.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-183398 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lg-foldable-display-patent-2.jpg?x10805" alt="LG Foldable Display Smartphone Patent" width="770" height="432" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lg-foldable-display-patent-2.jpg 770w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lg-foldable-display-patent-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lg-foldable-display-patent-2-768x431.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px" /></p>
<p>The images, which were attached to the patent, reveals that both the displays connected through two hinges &#8212; one on the top and another on the bottom side. This enables both screens to open and combine to form one large display.</p>
<p>In a partially open position, the device can be used by two persons to watch video separately, using the two headphone jacks. Interestingly, both hosting packs their own battery as well as camera module. While the patent was filed in September 2016, it mentions that the primary display is equipped with an under-display fingerprint sensor.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-183399 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lg-foldable-display-patent.jpg?x10805" alt="LG Foldable Display Smartphone Patent" width="770" height="384" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lg-foldable-display-patent.jpg 770w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lg-foldable-display-patent-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/lg-foldable-display-patent-768x383.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px" /></p>
<p>From the patent application, it seems that LG is focusing on the media consumption for its foldable smartphone, enabling users to consume different types of media content without disturbing each other. The patented technology can be used for smartphones, tablets, laptops, multimedia devices and wearables.</p>
<p>Many smartphone manufacturers are said to be working on a foldable display smartphone, including <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/">Samsung</a>, Apple, and Microsoft. Recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> also joined the list and now LG is also jumping on the foldable display bandwagon.</p>
<p>Last year, in September, Samsung’s mobile chief DJ Koh had confirmed in an interview that the company would launch its first foldable smartphone in 2018. Later, there were reports suggesting that the Galaxy X could be a limited edition device that may only <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/10/06/samsung-galaxy-x-foldable-phone-rumors-limited-edition-smartphone-may-release-south-korea/">arrive in select markets</a>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><span style="color: #ff0000"><strong>Read More:</strong></span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/30/huawei-patents-a-foldable-phone-which-can-turn-into-a-tablet/">Huawei Patents A Foldable Phone Which Can Turn Into A Tablet</a></p>
<p>However, Salman Saeed, who’s the product manager of display technology at <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a> said in an interview that the foldable smartphone launch could be delayed due to concerns related to the fine-tuning of the user experience as well as the durability.</p>
