<p>According to a reliable insider on Weibo who goes by the name Digital Chat Station, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> has reportedly sold over 10 million units of the <a href="https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DmBHNeL" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">Mate 60 series</a> by the end of June 2024. The figure encompasses sales of the standard Mate 60, Mate 60 Pro, and the premium RS Porsche Design variant.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="302" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-60-series-10-million-unit-sale.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-637315" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-60-series-10-million-unit-sale.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-60-series-10-million-unit-sale-300x101.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-60-series-10-million-unit-sale-768x258.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-60-series-10-million-unit-sale-696x234.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Despite ongoing chip production limitations, Huawei appears to have achieved another sales milestone with the Mate 60 lineup. The company actively promoted the flagships through various marketing campaigns with temporary discounts, likely contributing to the strong sales performance.</p>

<p>Huawei&#8217;s loyal customer base has also played a role in the Mate 60&#8217;s success. The Pro model&#8217;s initial sales surge translated into continued momentum, with the series now reaching this new sales benchmark.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro</strong></h2>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-60/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei Mate 60 </a>and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-60-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60 Pro</a> offer similar core specifications, with the primary difference lying in display size and battery capacity. Both phones boast large LTPO OLED displays with a variable refresh rate that can adjust between 1Hz and 120Hz to optimize battery life based on content.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Mate 60 features a slightly smaller 6.69-inch display, while the Mate 60 Pro steps it up to a more expansive 6.82-inch viewing area.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/HUawei-Mate-60-Pro-beige.png?x10805" alt=""/></figure></div>

<p>At the heart of both phones lies the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/14/huawei-schedules-its-autumn-launch-event-for-september-25-kirin-9000s-formal-announcement-expected/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kirin 9000S</a> chipset, built on a 7nm process. Both phones are paired with 12GB of RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking and app switching. Storage options range from 256GB to a staggering 1TB, ample for your photos, videos, and app download needs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The main rear camera on both models is a 50MP main sensor with a unique variable aperture that can adjust between f/1.4 and f/4.0. The other two lenses on the Mate 60 is a 12MP periscope lens and a 12MP ultrawide lens, while the Mate 60 Pro features the same ultrawide lens but upgrades the periscope lens to 48MP. Both phones have a 13MP front-facing camera.</p>

<p>Despite the larger display, the Mate 60 Pro comes equipped with a slightly smaller 4750mAh battery compared to the Mate 60&#8217;s 5000mAh battery. However, both phones support 88W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ and RS Ultimate Design</strong></h2>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-60-pro-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60 Pro+</a> has display specs similar to the Pro model and also features a 13MP front camera and a 3D depth camera for secure face recognition.</p>

<p>The Pro+ boasts a more advanced rear camera setup, featuring a 48MP primary camera with f/1.4-f/4.0 variable aperture, a 40MP ultrawide camera, and a 48MP ultra-macro telephoto camera. It comes pre-loaded with the latest HarmonyOS 4.0 and packs a powerful punch with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/428_428_3872D8D5728CA4B66E9741EC39D1A214.webp?x10805" alt=""/></figure></div>

<p>The Mate 60 Pro+ offers unique features like two-way satellite communication and 20W wireless reverse charging. Both the Mate 60 Pro and Pro+ support two-way text messaging over the Beiduo network.</p>

<p>The RS Ultimate Design offers the same powerful specs as the Mate 60 Pro+ but with a luxurious ceramic body and a unique design.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> is rolling out a software update for the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/mate-60">Mate 60</a> series, bringing <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos">HarmonyOS</a> 4.2.0.130 to these smartphones. The focus of this update is threefold: enhancing the camera experience, introducing a new accessibility feature, and implementing general system optimizations.</p>

<h3>Telephoto images will look much better and clearer with the new update</h3>

<p>The update promises an overall improvement in the photo-taking capabilities of the Mate 60 series. Users can expect better image quality across various shooting scenarios. Specifically, telephoto photos should benefit from increased clarity, allowing for sharper details when zooming in. Portrait mode also sees an upgrade, with enhanced clarity and a more natural look for portrait shots.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Huawei-Mate-60-1024x576.png?x10805" alt="Huawei-Mate-60" class="wp-image-574334" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Huawei-Mate-60-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Huawei-Mate-60-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Huawei-Mate-60-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Huawei-Mate-60-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Huawei-Mate-60-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Huawei-Mate-60-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Huawei-Mate-60.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Mate 60 Pro+ and Mate 60 RS Master specifically gain a new accessibility feature called Smart Scanning. This function allows users to leverage the phone&#8217;s rear camera for quick QR code scanning and initiating payments while the phone is in desktop mode. The process is straightforward:</p>

<ol><li>A QR code prompt appears on the screen.</li><li>Double-click the back of the phone or tap the QR code prompt at the bottom of the desktop.</li><li>Upon successful recognition (accompanied by a beep), you&#8217;ll be redirected to the corresponding service page.</li><li>Follow on-screen prompts to complete the desired action, such as launching an app or visiting a website.</li><li>For unified payment codes or situations with multiple codes, the default payment method will be automatically used.</li></ol>

<p>It&#8217;s important to note that Smart Scanning is currently available on select Huawei models, including the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/mate-50">Mate 50 </a>series, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/mate-x3">Mate X3</a> series, Mate 60 series, and P70 series. The HarmonyOS update goes beyond camera improvements. The update also addresses other areas of the phone, including the overall user experience of the system. It also integrates the latest June security patches to enhance system security.</p>

<p>Huawei has made a bold comeback with the launch of its Mate 60 series. Despite facing challenges due to the U.S. embargo on certain technologies, the company has managed to source most of the components for its new flagship phone from Chinese suppliers. This strategic move appears to be paying off, as Huawei is now emerging as a major competitor to Apple, with sales of the iPhone 15 in China falling short of expectations.</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei Mate 60 Series Poised to Disrupt the Chinese Smartphone Market and Challenge Apple&#8217;s iPhone 15</strong></h2>

<p>Apple unveiled the highly anticipated iPhone 15 series in September, removing the notch from all models and introducing new features, raising high hopes for these phones. Especially in the crucial Chinese market where 5G is essential. However, the final word on iPhone 15 sales comes from Huawei.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/huawei-mate-60-series-vs-iphone-15-sales-china-1-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-582575" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/huawei-mate-60-series-vs-iphone-15-sales-china-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/huawei-mate-60-series-vs-iphone-15-sales-china-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/huawei-mate-60-series-vs-iphone-15-sales-china-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/huawei-mate-60-series-vs-iphone-15-sales-china-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/huawei-mate-60-series-vs-iphone-15-sales-china-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/huawei-mate-60-series-vs-iphone-15-sales-china-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/huawei-mate-60-series-vs-iphone-15-sales-china-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>After a period of relative silence in both the global and Chinese smartphone markets, Huawei made a bold move by releasing the Mate 60, Mate 60 Pro, and Mate 60 RS Porsche Design in the same month as the iPhone 15. This strategic decision paid off, as the new models immediately captured the attention of consumers, who had been eagerly anticipating Huawei&#8217;s latest flagship devices.</p>

<p>In October, Huawei&#8217;s sales experienced a remarkable surge of 83%, while iPhone 15 sales saw a comparatively modest increase of 11%. This contrasting performance raises questions about Huawei&#8217;s potential resurgence and its ability to replicate this success on a global scale. Interestingly, iPhone sales typically decline leading up to September and reach their peak in October.</p>

<p>The likelihood of the Huawei Mate 60 series reaching global markets and its success in those markets remain uncertain. Nevertheless, the potential impact of Huawei on iPhone 15 sales alone warrants consideration of this possibility. For those interested in the specifications of the Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro, here they are:</p>

<p>At the 2023 World Computing Conference, Huawei Vice Chairman and Rotating Chairman Xu Zhijun acknowledged that the company&#8217;s chips, servers, and PCs lag behind those of foreign companies. However, he believes that the only way to close this gap is to use Huawei&#8217;s own products.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="580" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Huawei-Self-Develop-Chip-Use-Chairman-1024x580.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Self Develop Chip Use Chairman" class="wp-image-567204" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Huawei-Self-Develop-Chip-Use-Chairman-1024x580.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Huawei-Self-Develop-Chip-Use-Chairman-300x170.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Huawei-Self-Develop-Chip-Use-Chairman-768x435.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Huawei-Self-Develop-Chip-Use-Chairman-696x394.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Huawei-Self-Develop-Chip-Use-Chairman-1068x605.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Huawei-Self-Develop-Chip-Use-Chairman-741x420.jpg 741w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Huawei-Self-Develop-Chip-Use-Chairman.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Xu Zhijun argued that if <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> does not use its own chips, the gap will only widen. However, if Huawei uses its chips on a large scale, it could pull and promote the progress of the company&#8217;s entire technology and products, and eventually catch up with foreign companies.</p>

<p>Xu Zhijun also pointed out that China&#8217;s general computing industry is currently advancing in three ecosystem forms. First is the X86, second is the Pentium ecosystem, and third and last is the RISC-V open-source ecosystem. He believes that these three ecosystems will develop in parallel for a long time in the future and that it is still too early to say which one will ultimately be the most successful.</p>

<p>In addition, Xu Zhijun stressed the importance of building an independent computing industry ecosystem in China. He said that this is essential for sustainable development and that it must be built on the basis of actually available chip manufacturing processes. Xu Zhijun also said that computing power infrastructure must be built on sustainably obtained computing chips and on an ecological basis.</p>

<p>Huawei has finally launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-60/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60</a> smartphone with 5G connectivity after a long hiatus. The Mate 60 series uses a Kirin chip processed with 7nm technology, which is a few years behind the competition. However, this is a significant milestone for Huawei, as it marks the company&#8217;s return to 5G.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Mate-60-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>While the new Kirin chip is not as advanced as its competitors, it is a step in the right direction for Huawei. The company needs to start somewhere, and the self-made chip strategy could be a foundation stone for its growth in the semiconductor industry in the near future.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="954" height="286" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-M60-Display-specs.png?x10805" alt="Huawei M60 Display specs" class="wp-image-554519" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-M60-Display-specs.png 954w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-M60-Display-specs-300x90.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-M60-Display-specs-768x230.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-M60-Display-specs-696x209.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 954px) 100vw, 954px" /></figure></div>

<p>If we look back, the standard Huawei Mate 50 features a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate, PWN dimming, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 2700×1224 pixel resolution.</p>

<h2>Huawei Mate 60 might feature Dynamic Island-like cutout on the front</h2>

<p>The Mate 60 is rumored to sport a refreshed front design, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/20/huawei-mate-60-series-spirit-island/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">featuring a smart island cutout on the head</a>. This is expected to be a pill-shaped punch hole at the center for the selfie camera and 3D depth sensor. Huawei is also planning to introduce its version of the Dynamic Island software feature to optimize the cutout area for notifications and app design, aiming to improve the overall user experience.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="690" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-Mate-60.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate 60 render" class="wp-image-554520" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-Mate-60.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-Mate-60-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-Mate-60-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Huawei-Mate-60-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></figure></div>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/28/huawei-mate-60-render/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">DCS also leaked a render</a> recently that shows the rear panel. On the rear, the Mate 60 will showcase a circular camera island, reminiscent of the Mate 40 series. Though specific camera details are yet to be released, Huawei promises new sensors and an optimized periscope lens, catering to low-light photography. The device will reportedly feature image processing powered by Huawei&#8217;s in-house technology, as indicated by the XMAGE label on the device.</p>

<p>An interesting development is the possibility that Huawei might <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/25/huaweis-kirin-chips-power-mid-range-phones-this-year/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">introduce its in-house chipset</a> in the upcoming midrange smartphones, departing from using 4G-only Snapdragon chips. According to a recent report, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/30/huawei-mate-x3-pro-5g-tipped-to-launch-soon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei Mate X3 Pro is tipped to launch with 5G</a> support soon. Additionally, Huawei is planning to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/26/huawei-harmonyos-4-0-august-4-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">unveil its latest HarmonyOS 4.0 software</a> on August 4th, which could bring new features and improvements to their devices.</p>

<p>While Huawei has not officially announced the release date, speculations based on reports indicate that the Mate 60 series is likely to launch sometime in September or October of 2023.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei </a>is apparently planning on launching a new generation of Mate series of flagship smartphones. The company&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-mate-60/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60</a> series launch could be right around the corner, so here are all the details. </p>

<h4>Huawei&#8217;s supply chain begins moving for the Mate 60 production</h4>

<p>According to a new report, the Chinese tech giant&#8217;s supply chain has begun supplying the company for the production of the next gen flagship series. In other words, the Mate 60 could be announced in the market soon. Notably, the brand <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/23/huawei-p60-series-launch-china/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">announced the P60 lineup </a>of flagship phones earlier this year. So if the Mate 60 series is launching soon, it would appear that the traditional <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/12/27/huawei-bringing-back-dual-flagship-launches-with-p60-and-mate-60-series/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">dual flagship launch cycle</a> of Huawei might be returning.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="507" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-1024x507.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei" class="wp-image-547114" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-1024x507.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-300x148.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-768x380.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-1536x760.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-696x344.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-1068x528.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-849x420.jpg 849w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1-324x160.jpg 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/design-color-1.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Huawei Mate 50</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>If this report is accurate, the Mate 60 series is expected to launch sometime in the second half of this year. As of right now, finer details regarding the upcoming Mate 60 like its specifications are still unclear. However, it is believed that the Mate 60 will also arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ series processor, although this chip will be lacking the 5G modem. In other words, it could be limited to 4G networking, similar to the P60 series that was announced previously. </p>

<p>The P60 model featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while the higher end P60 Pro and P60 Art variants were powered by the more powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. So we can expect the Mate 60 to possibly arrive with these same chips or maybe even a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 series chipset. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report as of right now, so stay tuned for more updates regarding this matter.</p>

<p>Chinese tech giant <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> is reportedly working on its next-gen flagship smartphone, the Huawei Mate 60, with several rumors and leaks surfacing about the device including an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/01/huawei-smartphone-leaks-camera-island-mate-60/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">odd-looking circular camera design</a>. The latest updates suggest that the Mate 60 will feature a new &#8216;Oreo-esque&#8217; design, as showcased in a preliminary leak by a well-known tipster, RODENT950. The render reveals that the rear camera housing will be split into two parts with a wide horizontal band, which is the same color as the rest of the rear panel.</p>

<h2>Huawei begins testing Mate 60 standard model</h2>

<p>According to the tipster Wangzaiknows, Huawei has begun testing the standard Huawei Mate 60 model, and the current test is being conducted with a Snapdragon 8+ chipset. The company has been using Snapdragon 8+ since the launch of the Huawei Mate 50 series, and it has also equipped this chipset in the Huawei P60 lineup. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset uses TSMC’s 4nm technology node, and it provides 30% power consumption efficiency as compared to Snapdragon 8.</p>

<p>However, looking at past trends, Huawei changes the core smartphone components ahead of the final release. Therefore, it is uncertain if the current processor will be used in the final device. The company may use the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 8 Gen 2</a> in the Pro or Pro+ version, while the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 could be utilized for the standard version.</p>

<p>Huawei has not announced an official launch date for the Mate 60 series yet, but it is expected to be introduced at an event in October 2023.</p>
