The Indian market recently welcomed a new 5G budget phone: the Motorola Moto G51 5G. It is the successor of the Moto G50 and it brings a wide display, a big battery, and a decent specs sheet to the market at a very affordable price. But are its specifications enough to win the award for the best 5G phone out there? Well, it is very hard to find it out because there are a lot of rivals out there. One of the best is definitely the Realme 8s 5G offering similar specifications at a competitive price. We think there is no better way to answer the above question than comparing the Moto G51 5G with one of the best other 5G budget phones of the moment: the Realme 8s 5G.

Motorola Moto G51 5G vs Realme 8 5G

Design

When it comes to the design, I actually prefer the Realme 8s 5G. First of all, it is more compact thanks to its smaller display. Further, its camera module is definitely more beautiful with its 2×2 matrix and the same color as the rest of the back cover. Both these devices are made of polycarbonate, so do not expect a premium touch & feel. But the Motorola Moto G51 5G has a water-repellent coating which makes it good to use in the rain or in similar situations. Both the phones feature a punch-hole display, but the punch hole is placed centrally on the Moto G51 5G and on the upper left corner of the Realme 8s 5G. Despite being more compact and having the same battery capacity, the Realme 8s 5G is a thinner (and lighter) phone.

Display

Motorola Moto G51 5G and Realme 8s 5G are equipped with the average displays you can usually find on lower-midrange phones. Two IPS panels with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. They are not bad panels, but if you spend just a bit more you can find way better displays even on affordable phones. The Motorola Moto G51 5G wins for two reasons: it has a wider 6.8-inch panel and a higher 120 Hz refresh rate. But there are no particular differences between these phones if we talk about the image quality. Besides their average displays, they are equipped with mono speakers and side-mounted fingerprint scanners. Nothing surprising, but at the same time, nothing you can complain about.

Hardware/Software

The Motorola Moto G51 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 480+ chipset, while the Realme 8s 5G is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 810. Despite it being a great Qualcomm chipset, according to the benchmarks, the Snapdragon 480+ is way inferior to the Dimensity 810. And you do not even need to have a look at the benchmarks to understand them. The Dimensity 810 has a higher clock frequency, better cores, and it is built with a better production process: 6 nm. It even features a great GPU. The phones run Android 11 out of the box but they will both get the update to Android 12. The highest-end memory configuration of these devices is the same: they offer up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of native storage.

Camera

The Motorola Moto G51 5G is a more versatile camera phone. Despite its 50 MP main camera is not as impressive as the 64 MP sensor found on the Realme 8s 5G, unlike its rival, it comes with an 8 MP ultrawide lens. With the Realme 8s 5G, you only get two useless 2 MP sensors for macros and depth. But the Realme 8s 5G features a better front camera with a 16 MP resolution.

Battery

These two phones come with the same battery capacity: 5000 mAh. But the Realme 8s 5G offers a longer battery life thanks to a smaller display and a chipset built with a better production process, as well as faster charging thanks to a charging power of 33W.

Motorola Moto G51 5G vs Realme 8s 5G: Price

You need Rs. 17,999 / $242 in order to purchase the Realme 8s 5G in India, while the Motorola Moto G51 5G starts from Rs. 14,999 / $202. I personally prefer the Realme 8s 5G because of its better chipset, faster charging, and good main camera. But the Moto G51 5G has a wider display and an ultrawide camera which may turn useful.

Motorola has just launched the Moto G51 in India. The new smartphone was first announced in China last month and has finally made its way to the Indian market.

Specs and Features

The Moto G51 5G arrives with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+, which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can even be expanded via a microSD card slot. The device runs on Android 11 out of the box and also has an IP52 water resistant body. On the front, it sports a 6.8 inch punch hole FHD+ LCD display that features 120Hz high refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display has a 20:9 aspect ratio and offers an 83.81 percent screen to body ratio. Its selfie shooter is an 8 megapixel sensor.

Meanwhile, the rear houses a triple camera setup that consists of a 50 megapixel primary camera, paired with 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens and a 2 megapixel macro sensor. The rear even houses a fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, a large 5,000mAh battery pack powers the Moto G51 5G, which supports 10W charging. Other features include Dolby Atmos support, 5G support, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, USB Type C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.

Pricing and Availability

The new smartphone from Motorola has launched in India for a price of 14,999 INR (roughly 200 US Dollars) for its single 4+64GB storage configuration. Notably, this price is inclusive of the 3,000 INR (roughly 40 US Dollars) discount. The device will be available in two colors, namely Bright Silver and Indigo Blue. It will be exclusively available for purchase on Flipkart starting from 16th December 2021.

After its European launch in November, Motorola announced the Indian release date of their budget 5G offering, the Moto G51, via a video on Twitter. The video featured the first looks of the smartphone, its two color variants, and the confirmed release date of December 10th.

So what can we expect from the Moto G51?

Design & Display

The release announcement video shows that the Moto G51 is identical to the Chinese and European variants and, therefore, will host an oval-shaped triple camera module in the top left corner with a Motorola branding in the center.

In the front, the device will feature a 6.8 inch IPS LCD HD+ display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate for a smoother user experience. The front camera is present in the center as a punch-hole cutout.

Cameras

The Moto G51 is expected to host a triple camera setup with a 50 megapixel Samsung ISOCELL S5KJN1 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel microsensor. The phone will also feature an LED flash for illumination and is expected to support 1080p video recording at 30, 60, and 240 frames per second. The device may host a 13-megapixel or a 16-megapixel selfie snapper on the front.

Performance

The device is expected to house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ SoC paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card slot, while its RAM can also be virtually expanded by up to 3GB as well. The device will feature a 5,000mAh battery pack with 10W charging support. Other features include 5G support of up to 12 bands, Android 11, a fingerprint scanner on the rear, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, a USB Type C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Variants, pricing, and availability

The Moto G51 is expected to arrive in India with multiple memory configurations ranging from 4GB + 64GB to 8GB + 128 GB. Industry sources have reported the Moto M51 to be priced under Rs 20,000 ($265), which can go further down for the lower memory configuration models. The phone will be available starting December 10th through the e-commerce website Flipkart in India and will be offered in two color variants, namely Indigo Blue and Bright Silver.

Last week, Motorola began teasing the arrival of the Moto G51 5G. Leaked information revealed that the company will be launching the smartphone on Dec. 10 in India. Today, it officially confirmed that the device will be breaking cover on the said date.

The official teaser shown below confirms that the Moto G51 5G will be arriving in two colors in India. It also confirms that the device will be sold through the Flipkart retailer site.

The Moto G51 is expected to arrive as India’s first-ever smartphone driven by the Snapdragon 480 Plus mobile platform. It is also expected to arrive with support for 12 5G bands. It is likely to cost under Rs 20,000 (~$265), thereby it is expected to become the most affordable 5G phone from the brand.

Motorola has been rumored to launch its new Moto G51 5G smartphone in the Indian market and as per the tweet from tipster Mukul Sharma, the device will go official in India on 10th December.

However, do note that the company has not yet confirmed the official launch date for the smartphone in the Indian market. Earlier, the company had teased that the Moto G51 will be made official in India in the month of December 2021.

As for the pricing, it is being rumored that the Moto G51 5G will be priced around ₹19,999 and is touted to be the most affordable Moto G-series phone with 5G connectivity.

Coming to the specifications, the smartphone features a 6.8-inch Full HD+ Max Vision display, offering 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 20:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus SoC.

It is packed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot for expanding the storage capacity up to 512GB.

In the camera department, the phone has a 13-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front, with an f/2.2 lens. It carries a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter.

The phone is running the Android 11 operating system and comes powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging. To know for sure when the device is getting launched in India and its pricing and availability information, we’ll have to wait for the official launch.

Motorola has confirmed to launch the Moto G31 in India on November 29.  Though the Moto G51 5G was also reported to debut in the country, the company is yet to reveal its launch date. Ahead of that, the handset’s price in the region leaks.

According to a report by 91Mobiles, the Moto G51 5G will release in India as the first Moto G series 5G smartphone in the country priced under ₹20,000,  citing industry sources. It will be available in two color options, namely Indigo Blue and Bright Silver.

The Moto G51 5G was announced for international markets alongside four other Motorola handsets last week. It made its initial debut in China earlier this month. The device is the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ smartphone.

The specifications of the phone include a 6.8-inch FHD+ 120Hz display (LCD) with a centered punch-hole, up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultrawide) + 2MP (macro) triple rear camera setup, and 13MP front-facing camera.

Other features include a fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, MicroSD card slot, USB Type-C port, Android 11, 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging.

The Moto G71 5G is naturally the best one, but its price is high. Moto G51 5G is not the best for everyone as it comes with a very wide IPS display, while the Moto G31 is the one offering the highest value for money.

Yesterday, Motorola silently announced a slew of G-series smartphones such as the Moto G200, Moto G71, Moto G51, Moto G41, and Moto G31 in Europe. It appears that the Lenovo-owned brand will announce some of these devices in India.

As revealed by a tipster Yash, Motorola phones with model numbers such as XT2169-1, XT2171-2, and XT2173-2 have been listed in the database of the Bureau of Indian Standards. These phones are nothing but the recently unveiled Moto G71, Moto G51, and Moto G31 handsets. The official press release of these phones had also confirmed that these phones will be also landing in India.

Moto G71 specifications and price

Priced at €299, the Moto G71 offers specs like a 6.4-inch OLED FHD+ display, Snapdragon 695, 6 GB of RAM, a 5,000mAh battery with 30W charging. It has a 16-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit. Motorola will be releasing an 8 GB RAM variant of the phone in India.

Moto G51 specifications and price

The Moto G51 has a 6.8-inch LCD FHD+ display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 480 Pro, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging. It has a 13-megapixel camera and a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit. It is priced at €229.

Moto G31 specifications and price

Priced at €199, the Moto G31 has a 6.4-inch LCD FHD+ screen, Helio G85 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB / 128 GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging. It has the same front and rear cameras that are available on the G31.

Motorola has lifted the curtains on the next generation of their entire Moto G series. Five new models spanning almost every price point have been announced, namely Moto G200, Moto G71, Moto G51, Moto G41, and Moto G31.

The Moto G200 can be deemed a ‘flagship killer’ and comes with a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888+ processor despite its low price. The remaining four models can be divided on the basis of their displays – two of the higher-end models offer OLED panels while the other two come with LCDs. All of them run near-stock Android 11 software with some Motorola tweaks and guaranteed 1 OS update.

Motorola Moto G200

The Moto G200 is the priciest of the bunch and as already mentioned, comes with the Snapdragon 888+ chip, which is an overkill for a €450 ($510) phone. Its display is a 6.8-inch LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel also features HDR10 certification and supports the DCI-P3 color space (via GSMArena).

As for the camera setup, there’s a 108MP primary sensor with a 2.1 µm pixel size and support for 8K video capture. It is complemented by a 13MP ultra wide-angle camera with autofocus, which doubles as a macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Upfront, there’s a 16MP selfie shooter.

The Moto G200 comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256 GB UFS 3.1 storage. All of it is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

The phone is protected against the elements by an IP52 basic water resistance rating. Its frame and back are made of plastic.

Motorola Moto G71

Next in line is the Moto G71 which prioritizes efficiency over raw power, and as such is equipped with a Snapdragon 695 5G chipset – a new chip announced only weeks ago, built using a 6nm manufacturing process.

The phone comes with a 50MP primary camera at the rear along with an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera.

Coming to the RAM and storage, the Moto G71 will be sold in a 6GB+128GB config, although the RAM in India will be boosted, standing at 8 gigs.

The battery of the device is 5,000mAh with 30W fast charging support. The phone also features an IP52 water resistance rating.

The Moto G71 will be available in Europe for €300 (~$340) in a few weeks, and will launch in select markets like India, Latin America, and the Middle East soon after.

Motorola Moto G51

The Moto G51 also offers 5G connectivity thanks to the Snapdragon 480+ chip. Its display is a 6.8-inch 1080p+ panel with 120Hz support.

The rear camera module is comprised of a 50MP primary, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, there’s a 13MP snapper.

The phone features multiple RAM+storage variants, with the base having a 4GB+64GB config and the top model having an 8GB+128GB config. The battery has a 5,000mAh capacity, although its charging speed is much lower than the aforementioned models, standing at just 10W.

The Moto G51 will launch in Europe first with a price tag of €230 (~$260), thereafter launching in India, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia.

Motorola Moto G41

The Moto G41 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 4G chip and has a 6.4” OLED display with 1080p+ resolution and 60Hz refresh rate.

Its triple camera array at the back has a 48MP primary (with OIS) + 8MP ultrawide + 2MP macro. The selfie camera resolution is 13MP.

The base variant of the Moto G41 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage while the top one comes with a 6GB+128GB config. Its battery capacity is 5,000mAh and supports 30W fast charging.

The phone will be priced €250 (~$283) when it goes live in Europe and will be launched soon after in Latin America and the Middle East.

Motorola Moto G31

The Motorola Moto G31 is the most affordable among the bunch, priced at €200, and will be launched in India, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia.

For memory, the device offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (UFS 2.2), which can be further expanded via a microSD card slot, while its RAM can also be virtually expanded by up to 3GB as well. Other features include, Android 11, a fingerprint scanner on the rear, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, a USB Type C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Notably, the smartphone supports both independent networking (SA) and the non independent networking standard (NSA) dual mode 5G and was launched in China with a partnership with China Mobile. For those unaware, China Mobile is a leading telecommunications based company in the country. The device also arrives with Dolby certification for its audio while its rear camera module features three image sensors. This includes a 50 megapixel primary camera, alongside an 8 megapixel and 2 megapixel sensor.

Pricing and Availability

The Moto G51 is priced at 1,499 Yuan (roughly 235 US Dollars) for its single 8GB + 128GB storage configuration. As of right now, it is only available for purchase in China and will be available in offline stores as well. Although, it is currently unknown if the company would be launching this model in the global market as well, so stay tuned for more updates.

Motorola is reportedly working on two new G-series of smartphones such as Moto G51 and Moto G71. The G51 was recently spotted at China’s 3C certification site and the Geekbench benchmarking platform. Now, the device has bagged approval from the NBTC authority of China. These certifications show that the G51 may soon launch in different markets.

The NBTC certification reveals that the Motorola phone with XT2171-2 model number will be launching as the Moto G51 5G in Thailand.  The listing did not reveal any information on the specs of the phone.

A recent leak by Technik News revealed that the Moto G51 will carry support for a Full HD+ resolution. It is unclear whether it supports a high refresh rate. For photography, it has a 13-megapixel front camera, and its back panel has a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide shooter, and a 2-megapixel camera.

The Geekbench listing of the phone revealed that it is powered by the Snapdragon 750G chipset. It further revealed that it has 4 GB of RAM and Android 11. The 3C listing of the phone revealed that it may carry support for only 10W charging.

Motorola is yet to confirm the existence of the Moto G51 5G. Since it has bagged multiple certifications, it appears that the handset may go official as early as this month.

The rumor mil is yet to spill information on the specs of the G71. The FCC certification of the device revealed that it will offer features like a 5,000mAh battery, 33W fast charging, NFC, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Motorola is reportedly working on a new smartphone called the Moto G51 5G. This phone is expected to arrive as the successor to the Moto G50 5G. A fresh report by TechnikNews has revealed the key specifications of the G51.

The report reveals that the Moto G51 5G is codenamed as “Cyprus 5G” and its model number is XT2171-1. While the exact screen size of the G51 is not known, the report claims that it supports a Full HD+ resolution. There is no clear information on the refresh rate of the G51.

There is no information on the processor of the Moto G51. It is fitted with a 13-megapixel camera on the front. The rear-facing triple camera unit features a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens that doubles up as a depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel lens.

Last week, the Moto G51 5G was spotted at the Geekbench benchmarking site. It was spotted with specs like the Snapdragon 750G chipset, 4 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS. The other details of the smartphone are under wraps.

According to the publication, the Moto G51 5G will be launching in a few weeks. It is speculated to launch in November. Motorola unveiled the Moto G50 5G in August this year in the Australian market. Now, the company is planning to launch its successor as a device named Motorola G51 5G has just appeared on the Geekbench portal. The listing reveals key specs of the device and confirms its existence.

According to the listing, the Motorola Moto G51 5G runs on Android 11 out of the box. The smartphone scores 543 single-core points and 1675 multi-core points on the Geekbench 5 portal. These scores are possible due to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. We expect this to be the base variant of the smartphone it may also come with a higher 6GB of RAM option. It is also expected to have multiple storage configurations.

Moto G50 5G Specifications 

Apart from this listing, the device is rumoured to launch soon this year and it may come with some upgrades over the predecessor Moto G50. The Moto G50 comes with a 6.5-inch IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

It has a triple camera system with a 48MP main, 2MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor. The smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 15W charging. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also comes with a microSD card slot for additional storage. It runs on Android 11 out of the box.
