The release was later shifted to April 15 (today) due to the COVID 19 lockdown instituted by the Indian government. Sadly, the Motorola Razr (2019) won’t be released today as the company has once again shifted the release date to May 6.

India is still in lockdown until May 3 after the recent extension and that is what prompted the shift, a statement released by the company revealed. Clutching a retail price of Rs. 124,999 (around $1632), we doubt if there are very many persons who would be disappointed by the announcement.

Motorola first unveiled the Razr (2019) last year as a re-imagined version of the classic Motorola Razr of yore. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 710 midrange chipset but what makes it tickle is the foldable OELD screen which it packs. The device features a 6.2-inch pOLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 2142 x 876 pixels. There is also a secondary 2.7-inch cover screen upfront with 800 x 600 pixels resolution. The foldable phone comes in a sole 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option.

While the device made its debut in November 2019, Motorola hinted that the phone will be launched in India on March 16 at 12.30 pm. More details have now emerged that the Razr 2019 will be launched on Flipkart on that day.

The new Razr 2019 still retained the flip design but lack a physical keyboard. Instead, what we got is a foldable screen in the most simplistic of form. No surprise the Motorola Razr 2019 has been a popular model since it was launched. The design may have even inspired the Samsung Z flip that was launched last month. You may check out our comparison article of the two models from here.

As per the specifications, the Motorola Razr 2019 features an internal P-OLED foldable display with a resolution of 876 x 2142 pixels. The display also uses an aspect ratio of 21:9. The outer screen houses a G-OLED screen of 2.7 inches with a resolution of 600 x 800 pixels.

The Razr 2019 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 mobile platform paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. For photography, you get a 5MP selfie camera at the front while at the rear, there is a 16MP with f/1.7 aperture along with dual-LED flash. The phone packs a 2,510mAh battery and supports 15W TurboPower fast charging through USB-C.

Motorola is yet to reveal the price of the Razr 2019 in India but in the international markets, the Razr is selling for $1,499.

May fans soon realised that the foldable phone they needed wasn’t one that transforms into a tablet size when unfolded but one that becomes more portable like the Razr. The design tyle was featured by Samsung on the Galaxy Z flip that was launched just about two weeks back.

Popular Youtuber Zack from the channel JerryRigEverything has got his hands on the Razr 2019 and earlier on carried out a durability test on the device. The Youtuber has now published a teardown video of the Moto Razr 2019 showing the entire internals. He also did a comparison with the Galaxy Z Flip internals especially the hinge mechanism.

One thing that we can make out from the video is that the Motorola Razr 2019 adopts a different approach in its hinge design from that of the Galaxy Z Flip. Motorola’s adopted a simplistic mechanism with two inserts on the side acting as pivots. The hinge also has two gears on each half of the phone and springs on the side to help open and close the handset. The two halves are connected by a ribbon cable which Motorola was careful not to put too much strain by ensuring the fold at the middle of the screen bends as gentle as possible.

The hinge is pretty durable as shown n a separate durability test where it caved in after 27,000 folds even though Motorola touts durability of 200,000 folds. Another interesting thing is that the screen is pretty cheap to replace at around $200.

Also, Zack shows a better shot of the bristles that Samsung relies on to keep the dust out of the hinge in the course of the video. On the Razr, Motorola used sticky goop over important connections inside the Razr meant to catch dust and keep water away from the exposed electrical contacts.

Overall, the Motorola Razr 2019 internal layout is quite complicated as the foldable form factor made routing the cables tricky. The reviewers who tagged the Razr “impossible to repair” may just be right after all.

Renders of the Blush Gold variant were posted on the web by Evan Blass (@evleaks). This variant has the bottom half of the phone coated in gold paint. The chin where the fingerprint scanner is placed is also gold and there is a gold ring around the rear camera too.

Some renders and specs of the rumored Motorola RAZR foldable phone had also surfaced few months back. Fresh information shared by Lets Go Digital reveals that Motorola will be releasing in Europe in December this year or January 2020.

Citing information received from an anonymous source, the publication has claimed that the Motorola RAZR foldable phone will be carrying a price tag of 1500 euros in (~$1,665). The first foldable phone from Motorola will be featuring a large-sized flexible screen and it will look quite similar to its renders that have appeared in the past.

The Motorola RAZR 2019 can be folded like the yesteryear RAZR clamshell phone. Hence, it will be also featuring a small-sized display on the outside which can be used for checking notifications and incoming calls. There is no information available on the size details of both details.

Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X command hefty price tags of 2,000 euros and 2,300 euros, respectively. The reason behind the high pricing for both devices is that they are packed with topnotch specifications. However, the Motorola RAZR foldable phone will be a cheaper device because it won’t be featuring a high-end processor, claims the report. The first foldable phone from Motorola will include mid-range specs.

The Lenovo-owned company will be mainly focusing on the design of the phone. The idea behind it is to launch it as a compact foldable phone and not like a large tablet-like device like the Galaxy Fold and Mate X. Hence, it won’t be featuring a big battery.

The publication has claimed that the Motorola RAZR foldable phone will be launching first in the U.S. After the U.S. launch, it will be releasing in the Europe by December 2019 or January with a pricing of 1,500 euros (~$1,665). In the U.S., it will be costing $1,500.

Previous reports have revealed that the Motorola RAZR 2019 will be equipped with a 6.2-inch flexible display that will support 876 x 2142 pixels. The outer screen will offer 600 x 800 pixels resolution. The Snapdragon 710 chipset is expected to power the phone with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM. It may arrive in 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. The RAZR (2019) as the phone is expected to be called, will be a foldable phone with a clamshell design similar to that of the flip RAZR models of old. Press renders of the phone have been leaked on Weibo, giving us more details about the upcoming phone.

The images show the Motorola RAZR (2019) will come in a triangular prism box. The box will contain the charger which has foldable plugs, a USB Type-C cable, a pair of headphones, and a USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter. The audio adapter included in the box is confirmation the phone will not have an audio jack.

The phone itself has a flexible display with a notch at the top. There have been rumors it will have a secondary display on the outside but the renders do not show this. Also, the renders do not provide a close-up view of the phone so we can’t see more details such as the camera(s), ports and button arrangement.

The smartphone is expected to debut with a foldable design and an expensive price tag. The launch date of the Motorola RAZR 2019 is yet to be finalized, but its arrival may not be far away. Folks at 91mobiles has spotted a patent filing of a Motorola phone with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Since it features a foldable design, it is believed that it could be the design of the rumored Motorola RAZR 2019 foldable phone.

In the below image, the alleged Motorola RAZR 2019 can be seen sporting a tall display along with a thick chin. At the topside of the display is a wider notch which appears to be equipped with an earpiece. It does not seem to house a selfie camera. The edges at the center area of the phone features hinges on the either sides of the screen, but they seem to be hidden under the display area which confirms that it will be sporting a foldable design.

The rear design of the Motorola RAZR 2019 is interesting since it features two halves that are joined by a hinge. The upper half features a small-sized secondary display like the original Motorola RAZR V3 phone. The small screen can be used for checking notifications for calls and messages without opening the phone to see the main display. There seems to be a camera above the second screen while it could be equipped with a fingerprint scanner on its lower half. The below image shows of the side view of the alleged Motorola RAZR 2019 clamshell flagship phone.

Fresh information that has surfaced from South Kore reveals that Motorola RAZR 2019 will use the folding screen solution from Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy F foldable phone. Last week’s report had revealed that the company will be manufacturing more than 200,000 units of the RAZR 2019 phone. The handset could be exclusively available in the U.S. through Verizon Wireless with a price tag of $1,500.
