Motorola Edge 70 Pro and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro target the same premium mid-range audience, but they approach the experience very differently. Motorola focuses on raw hardware value with a massive battery, flagship-style cameras, and faster performance, while Nothing leans into bold design, software polish, and visual identity. Both promise high-end features without entering true flagship pricing, making this one of the most interesting smartphone comparisons in the segment right now.

Design and Display

Build and Feel

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro take very different approaches to design. Motorola focuses on practicality with its eco-leather finish, slimmer profile, IP68/IP69 protection, and MIL-STD-810H certification. It feels cleaner and easier to grip, while the curved styling gives it a more premium in-hand experience. Nothing, meanwhile, leans heavily into visual identity with its aluminum unibody chassis and signature Glyph-style mini-LED setup on the back. The metal construction feels more flagship-like, though the glossy finish may not appeal to users who prefer understated designs.

Display Quality

Both phones offer 144Hz AMOLED panels with HDR support and excellent sharpness, but the experience differs slightly. Motorola pushes brighter peak brightness levels and delivers stronger outdoor visibility, while Nothing counters with richer HDR tuning and slimmer bezels for a more immersive look. The Nothing display feels more cinematic, whereas Motorola’s panel appears more aggressive and vibrant for gaming and scrolling.

Verdict

Motorola feels more practical and durable for daily use, while Nothing delivers a stronger visual personality. Users who prefer clean usability may gravitate toward Motorola, but Nothing stands out more in a crowd.

Specifications Including Battery

Performance

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro clearly targets power users with the Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, UFS 4.1 storage, and faster CPU cores. App loading, multitasking, and gaming performance should feel noticeably quicker, especially during sustained workloads. The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 paired with UFS 3.1 storage, which remains efficient and capable for everyday tasks, but it does not reach the same performance tier. Motorola also gains an advantage with Wi-Fi 7 support, making it feel slightly more future-ready.

Battery and Charging

Battery capacity is another major win for Motorola, thanks to its 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery and 90W charging. It also includes wireless and reverse wireless charging, features usually missing in this price segment. Nothing’s 5080mAh global battery and 50W charging are respectable, though less impressive considering the price. Charging speeds remain good, but Motorola simply offers more flexibility and endurance overall.

Verdict

Motorola provides stronger raw hardware value and a more complete battery package. Nothing focuses more on balanced efficiency, but Motorola feels better suited for heavy users and long-term performance needs.

Camera

Main and Secondary Lenses

Both phones use a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3.5x optical zoom, making this one of the closest camera battles in the segment. Motorola gains an edge with its 50MP ultrawide camera, which should preserve more detail and consistency across focal lengths. Nothing uses an 8MP ultrawide sensor, which feels less competitive beside its otherwise premium setup. Video capabilities also favor Motorola with support for 4K at up to 120fps and HDR10+, while Nothing focuses more on Dolby Vision HDR tuning and cinematic processing.

Selfie Camera

Motorola again appears stronger on paper with a 50MP autofocus selfie camera capable of 4K recording. Nothing’s 32MP front camera is solid for casual use, but the lack of 4K selfie video makes it feel less premium. Motorola’s setup seems more creator-friendly overall.

Verdict

Motorola offers a more versatile and technically complete camera system. Nothing may produce more stylized processing and social-media-friendly colors, but Motorola delivers stronger consistency across all lenses.

Pricing

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro is priced at around ₹39,000 ($400), while the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro sits near ₹40,000 ($500). Despite the small gap in India, the hardware difference is surprisingly noticeable. Motorola includes a stronger chipset, a larger battery, faster charging, wireless charging support, a higher-resolution ultrawide camera, and faster storage. On pure specifications alone, it feels aggressively priced for the segment.

Nothing justifies part of its premium through design identity, software polish, and the Glyph-inspired LED experience. The aluminum body and cleaner Nothing OS experience also add emotional appeal that some buyers may value more than benchmark numbers. It feels more lifestyle-oriented, while Motorola is clearly chasing maximum hardware value.

Verdict

Motorola Edge 70 Pro delivers stronger value for money and offers more flagship-grade hardware for the price. Nothing Phone (4a) Pro still appeals to buyers who prioritize unique design and software experience over raw specifications.

Disclaimer:
Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, launch timing, and applicable taxes. Always check whether the listed price is for a China unit or a global/international variant when purchasing.

Conclusion

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro stands out through its performance-focused approach. Features like the Dimensity 8500 Extreme chip, 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery, wireless charging, Wi-Fi 7, and triple 50MP camera setup make it feel unusually complete for its price category. It targets users who want flagship-like hardware without crossing premium pricing territory.

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro focuses more on identity and software personality. Its Glyph-inspired LED system, aluminum unibody design, and clean Nothing OS experience create a device that feels different from mainstream Android phones. The interface and visual styling give it a more distinctive character, especially for users bored with conventional smartphone designs.

Verdict

Motorola Edge 70 Pro is the stronger all-rounder with better specifications, battery life, charging, and camera versatility. Nothing Phone (4a) Pro succeeds more as a design-first smartphone with a cleaner aesthetic and unique personality.

Buyers focused on value and power will likely prefer Motorola, while Nothing remains appealing for users who prioritize style and software experience.

Nothing has unveiled a new AI-driven feature called Essential Voice for its smartphones, aiming to improve the overall voice typing experience. The update focuses on making dictated text cleaner and easier to read while also adding translation and smart shortcut features. The company has also confirmed the first batch of devices that will receive the feature.

Essential Voice aims to improve voice typing

Essential Voice

Essential Voice is designed to go beyond regular speech-to-text tools that often capture pauses, repeated words, and unnecessary fillers. Instead of converting speech exactly as spoken, the system refines sentences in real time to produce more polished text for messages, emails, and quick notes. The feature can be activated through the keyboard or the dedicated Essential Key available on supported Nothing smartphones.

The company says the tool supports more than 100 languages with automatic language detection. Users can also ask the system to instantly translate dictated text into another language while speaking. Another addition is the ability to create personalized shortcuts for commonly used phrases, names, or addresses. For example, saying the name of a favorite restaurant can automatically insert its saved address into the text.

At present, Essential Voice is available for devices like Nothing Phone (3) and Phone (4a) Pro. It will also arrive for Phone (4a) by early May.

Nothing has also stated that future updates will introduce context-aware suggestions so the feature can adapt depending on whether a user is typing a message, writing a work email, or performing a search.

The company added that audio recordings are encrypted during processing and are not stored permanently on its servers after the text is generated. This approach is aimed at addressing privacy concerns linked to cloud-based voice processing systems.

Nothing recently confirmed that it will unveil the Nothing Phone (4a) series of midrange phones globally on March 5. Ahead of the launch, the brand has gradually confirmed some of the series’ key details. Today, it rolled out a new image to showcase the Phone (4a)’s rear design for the first time.

Nothing Phone (4a) official image released

Nothing Phone (4a)

The Nothing Phone (4a) retains the brand’s signature semi-transparent aesthetic, showcasing a layered, industrial design with visible screws and geometric detailing. The dual-camera module sits neatly within an oval housing at the top, blending into the clean, minimalist back panel.

On the extreme right, the new Glyph Bar can be seen as a redesigned LED strip system. It uses individually controllable mini-LEDs to deliver brighter, more precise light notifications for calls, alerts, and app activity, while reducing visual clutter compared to earlier Glyph interfaces. The right edge of the phone has volume buttons and a power key, and the left spine features the Essential Key.

Rumors suggest that the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro may not feature this Glyph Bar. Instead, it may include a Glyph Matrix similar to the Phone (3) from last year.

Nothing Phone (4a) specifications (rumored)

According to leaks, the Nothing Phone (4a) is expected to feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth scrolling and an immersive viewing experience. The device is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, paired with 8GB / 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It is likely to run on Nothing OS 4 based on Android 16, bringing the brand’s clean and minimal software experience.

In terms of cameras, the Phone (4a) is tipped to sport a 50MP main rear camera along with a 32MP front-facing shooter for selfies and video calls. While full camera details remain under wraps, the device is expected to focus on balanced photography performance. At present, there is no information about its battery and charging capabilities. The handset may arrive in multiple color options, including black, white, pink, and blue.

Nothing has started revealing key highlights of the upcoming Nothing Phone (4a) lineup ahead of its March 5 launch in India. The latest teaser focuses on a redesigned lighting system called the Glyph Bar, signalling a shift in how the brand approaches its signature rear lighting concept.

Nothing Phone (4a)’s Glyph Bar teased

Nothing Phone (4a) Glyph Bar teaser

According to the company, the Glyph Bar is an evolution of its earlier Glyph Interface, aiming to provide clearer visual cues while minimizing distraction. The system consists of nine individually controllable mini-LEDs arranged to deliver sharper signals and a cleaner visual output.

Nothing claims the new implementation is around 40 percent brighter compared to the previous (a) series while producing a more natural glow without light bleed. The lighting setup is designed to convey notifications and status information instantly through six square lighting zones.

Earlier Nothing devices experimented with different approaches, ranging from multiple segmented lights to the Glyph Matrix display introduced recently. With the Phone (4a), the company appears to be refining the concept rather than expanding it into a full rear display. Teasers and early visuals suggest the lighting strip may sit closer to the device’s edge, possibly around a vertically aligned camera module, though the exact placement remains unclear.

Nothing Phone (4a) series leaked specs

Leaks suggest the standard Nothing Phone (4a) could feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset. Camera details indicate a 50-megapixel primary sensor paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, along with a 32-megapixel front camera. The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro variant is expected to introduce additional upgrades such as a periscope telephoto lens and a faster 144Hz display on a slightly larger screen.

Both models are tipped to include larger batteries around the 5,200mAh range with 50W charging support, along with upgraded UFS 3.1 storage. Color options are said to include Black, Blue, Pink and White for the standard version, while pricing could see a slight increase due to industry-wide component costs.

Nothing has taken a key step in its rollout strategy for the upcoming Phone (4a) series by confirming Flipkart availability ahead of the official launch on 5th March 2026. A dedicated Flipkart microsite for the new mid-range lineup is already live, and likely includes both the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro.

Nothing Phone (4a) Series Launching Via Flipkart

To recall, all Nothing products have been sold online via Flipkart, which is one of the leading e-commerce platforms in the region. So it is no surprise that the Nothing Phone (4a) series continues the trend. While the microsite itself doesn’t show pricing or full specs yet, the listing does hint that the pre-orders and first sale could go live soon.

Based on what we know so far, the Nothing Phone (4a) is set to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, which might be coupled with 12GB of RAM. A sizeable 5,080mAh battery pack could power this model, which likely supports 50W wired fast charging. This model likely runs on the Android 16 OS based Nothing OS custom skin out of the box. Other notable features include up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance, and possibly two color variants (black and white).

We can expect Nothing’s signature transparent aesthetic to make a return, along with an evolving Glyph LED lighting system. On the front, the Nothing Phone (4a) series is expected to offer a smooth display with up to a 144Hz refresh rate. For photography, the rear may have a triple camera setup, just like its predecessor.

Nothing Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro

The Pro model appears to be getting the bigger upgrades this year. It is rumored to feature a 50MP Sony main camera with optical image stabilization and zoom capabilities up to 140x. The device may also use a unibody aluminum frame designed to improve heat dissipation during heavy use. On the front, the Phone (4a) Pro is expected to include a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, slightly larger and faster than its predecessor. Another possible addition is a Glyph Matrix lighting system, which would expand on Nothing’s signature LED notification design.

The standard Nothing Phone (4a) is also expected to bring noticeable improvements. Reports suggest a triple 50MP rear camera setup that supports a 0.6x ultra-wide view and zoom up to 70x. A 32MP front camera is expected for selfies and video calls. The device will likely retain Nothing’s transparent design with smoother curves and a Glyph Bar made up of 63 mini-LEDs for alerts and lighting effects.

Display upgrades are also expected on the regular model, with a rumored 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel supporting adaptive refresh rates between 30Hz and 120Hz. Battery life is said to improve compared to the Phone (3a), and support for 50W fast charging is expected. As for the processor, a recent Geekbench listing revealed that the Phone (4a) will be powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor.

Storage and color options differ between the two phones. The Phone (4a) may launch with 256GB storage only, paired with either 8GB or 12GB RAM. Black and White are expected across both variants, while Pink and Blue may be limited to the 12GB model. The Phone (4a) Pro is rumored to come in 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB versions, with Black and Silver available for both, and Pink again restricted to the higher configuration.

Pricing is expected to rise compared to the previous generation. The Phone (4a) 8GB/256GB may start at €409 in France, Belgium, and Italy, and €389 in Germany and Spain, while the 12GB version could cost €449 and €429. The Phone (4a) Pro 8GB/128GB is expected at €499 and €479, and the 12GB/256GB model may reach €569 and €549.

The standard Phone (4a) is expected to become available starting March 12, 2026, with the Pro version reportedly launching around March 26.

After a series of teasers, Nothing has finally confirmed it will launch Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro on March 5th.

Notice the timing? Nothing’s event is just a day after Apple will hold its “Special Experience” showcase on March 4th.

Unsurprisingly, Nothing’s announcement didn’t arrive quietly. CEO Carl Pei shared a playful invite on X, visually riffing on Apple’s minimalist event artwork. The image is altered with bright pink graffiti-style text, swapping out the date for March 5th and stamping the Nothing name front and center.

Meanwhile, Nothing’s official handle confirmed the Phone (4a) series will be announced globally and in India on the same day. While full specifications are still under wraps, leaks and early benchmarks offer some clues.

What to expect from the Nothing Phone (4a) series?

The lineup is expected to include a standard Phone (4a) and a Phone (4a) Pro. Both models are rumored to feature UFS 3.1 storage and slightly larger batteries than their predecessors in the Phone (3a) series.

The vanilla model recently appeared on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor. Likewise, both phones are expected to launch in 8GB RAM and 128GB storage configurations.

However, the two phones might differ in terms of colors. The standard model is expected to come in Black and White, while the Pro will swap White for a Silver finish.

Pei has also hinted that the Phone (4a) series will push closer to flagship territory in areas like materials, display, camera, and overall build quality. According to him, the company is focusing less on chasing specs and more on refining design and user experience.

In addition to the new phones, Nothing has confirmed it will unveil the Nothing Headphone (a). The latter is an affordable follow-up to last year’s Nothing Headphone (1).

The Nothing Phone (4a) series launch is drawing near. While the company is mum about its launch date, it is expected to go official globally next month (March). Recently, the Phone (4a) was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, confirming that it is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip and 12GB of RAM. The latest leak that has emerged now reveals the Phone (4a) series’ configurations and color options.

Nothing Phone (4a) series configs, color variants revealed

According to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, the Nothing Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro will arrive in two configurations: 8GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB. Both phones will come in a common black color, while the Phone (4a) will also have a white variant, and the Pro edition could also be available in a silver edition.

Reports have claimed that the Phone (4a) series will also have blue and pink editions, but this leak does not mention their existence. Speculation is rife that the brand will announce the Headphone (a) over-the-ear headphones on March 12. It remains to be seen whether the company launches the Phone (4a) alongside the Headphone (a) or separately.

The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro was recently spotted on the EPREL certification platform, revealing a rated battery of 5,088mAh and 50W charging. The company has also confirmed that the (4a) series will offer upgraded UFS 3.1 storage. The other specifications of both phones are under wraps.

In related news, Nothing has no plans to launch the Nothing Phone (4a) flagship phone in 2026. Instead, it will shift its focus to bring flagship-level features on the Phone (4a) lineup.

Nothing appears to be gearing up for the release of its next mid-range smartphone series. The Nothing Phone (4a) and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro have just surfaced in another leak, which has hinted at their release being right around the corner. So here’s what we know.

Nothing Phone (4a) & Phone (4a) Pro Could Be Just Weeks Away

According to a known tipster Yogesh Brar, the brand might be planning an early March release for its new mid-range duo. He also shared a tentative global launch date, which is 5th March 2026. So the affordable devices could be just a month away from their official announcement. This launch strategy would mirror last year’s timing for the Phone (3a) series, which debuted around the same time last year, and helped Nothing solidify its presence in the mid-range segment.

Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro

In a recent announcement, Nothing confirmed that there will be no Phone (4) flagship model launching this year, but has already confirmed the Phone (4a) lineup. This might be indicative of the brand’s focus on enhancing the 4a series with meaningful upgrades in design and performance. In the tweet, the tipster did reveal some of these updates, including a faster UFS 3.1 storage instead of the older UFS 2.2, which should result in faster app load times and improved responsiveness.

Both variants are also likely to use Snapdragon 7 series chipsets, although the exact models have yet to be confirmed. This should offer capable performance for day-to-day use and efficient power management. Nothing could bring a marginal battery capacity bump in both models. Apart from this, the upcoming devices are expected to get a refreshed design and a higher price tag.
