Huawei is reportedly working on the Nova 13 series of smartphones for the Chinese market. Initial rumors surrounding it claimed that the Nova 13 lineup would be announced in the second quarter of this year. However, a May report revealed a postponement of its launch to July. While there is no new information about its arrival, a Chinese leaker has revealed what to expect from next-generation Nova phones.

Huawei Nova 13 series incoming

Tipster Smart Pikachu claims that Kirin processors are present in all models of the Huawei Nova 13 series. He added that the top variant features flagship-level satellite communication capabilities.

To recall, the Nova 12 series, which debuted in December 2023, included multiple models, such as the Nova 12 Lite, Nova 12s, Nova 12 Pro, and Nova 12 Ultra. Among these, the Pro and Ultra models came equipped with support for calling and messaging via satellite connectivity. Hence, it is likely that the Nova 13 Pro and Nova 13 Ultra may continue to offer satellite connectivity.

The tipster further said that Huawei will also announce two Kirin-powered flagship tablets, also powered by Kirin chips. Both devices will also support Huawei’s Star Flash NearLink technology. For those who don’t know, it is a groundbreaking short-range wireless technology that combines the strengths of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It offers significantly faster transmission speeds, lower power consumption, lower latency, increased connection capacity, and enhanced security compared to existing technologies. The leak also suggests that the tablet may support satellite connectivity.

Regarding the launch, Huawei may unveil the Nova 13 series and the new tablets in August. A recent report claimed the Kirin 9010E-powered Nova-branded flip phone may launch in August.

According to reports, the brand will shift its focus to the Nova 13 lineup soon, as it is expected to launch in June in the home market. A reliable leaker from China has revealed what to expect from the Nova 13 Pro and Nova 13 Ultra models.

The Huawei Pura 70 series has a starting price of 5,499 Yuan (~$780) in China. Hence, the upcoming Nova 13 series will attract Huawei fans who are looking forward to purchasing affordable flagship Huawei phones priced at around 3,000 Yuan (~$415).

Huawei Nova 13 Pro, 13 Ultra key details tipped

Tipster Fixed Focus Digital suggests that the Huawei Nova 13 Pro and Nova 13 Ultra may come with the same flagship Kirin chip that powers the Huawei Pura 70 series. To recall, the Pura 70 Pro, Pro+, and Ultra are equipped with the all-new Kirin 9010 SoC.

Additionally, Huawei’s Pura and Mate series of flagship phones currently sport the company’s XMAGE imaging branding. The Nova 13 Pro and Ultra models will likely inherit the XMAGE branding. In comparison to the Nova 12 lineup, the 13 series is expected to arrive with improvements in several departments, including performance, durability, and imaging capabilities, promising an elevated user experience.

Even another leaker, Smart Pikachu, has claimed that the Nova 13 series will feature the Kirin 9010 chipset. Except for the standard model in the series, which will have a flat screen, the other models will have a slightly curved screen. The entire series may support a 1.5K resolution. He further said that the Nova 13 series will offer an enhanced selfie photography experience, as it is expected to sport dual front-facing cameras. Lastly, all the models are expected to support 5G connectivity.

Smart Pikachu also claimed that the Nova 13 series will run on the new HarmonyOS Next. The lineup will also offer variable aperture for the primary camera, a periscope telephoto camera, and satellite connectivity support. The series is tentatively scheduled to debut by the end of the second quarter of this year.
