<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/10/samsung-galaxy-a80-launches-with-fullscreen-display-and-triple-sliding-rotating-cameras/">2019 mid-range Galaxy A80</a> is getting an update with firmware version <strong>A805FXXU5DUC7</strong> in parts of Europe. If you recall, this device, which launched with <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-9">Android 9 Pie</a> has already got one Android version upgrade and this should be the second upgrade, which is probably its last one.</p>
<p>However, it should get the security updates for at least another year considering it&#8217;s on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/22/samsung-extends-security-updates-to-four-years-for-several-of-its-phones/">official list released</a> by Samsung. Anyway, the latest update brings <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/09/android-11-stable-update-arrives-with-chat-bubbles-screen-recording-and-more/">Android 11 features</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/One-UI-3.1">One UI 3.1</a> features, and March 2021 security patch.</p>
<p>Some of One UI 3.1 features include revamped UI, Private Share, GPS location data removal on Images, more Lock screen widgets, improved stock apps, &amp; more. Users in other countries like India should get it soon now that it&#8217;s has started rolling out in Europe.</p>
<p>Similar to the Galaxy A80, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a40">Galaxy A40</a> is also getting the Android 11(One UI 3.1) update with March 2021 security patch. It is getting the firmware version <strong>A405FNXXU3CUC2 </strong> and is rolling out to users of Vodafone Germany in Europe. That being said, expect the other regions to pick it up in the coming days.</p>
<p>Galaxy A40 launched with Android 9 Pie and hence, this could be the last update for it too. If you are living in Europe and are having either of these devices, you can visit <i>Settings &gt; Software update &gt; Download and install. </i></p>

<p>A new update with firmware version <strong>A426BXXU1BUB7 </strong>is rolling out to the users of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a42-5g/">Galaxy A42 5G</a> in the Netherlands. This update brings the latest <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-3.1">One UI 3.1</a> based on Android 11. Also, this is a direct jump from the One UI 2.5. Samsung initially started its Android 11 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/03/one-ui-3-0-stable-rollout-for-samsung-galaxy-s20-series/">rollout process</a> with One UI 3.0 on top.</p>
<p>However, it switched tracks to One UI 3.1 after the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/s21">Galaxy S21</a> launch. Anyway, the update brings <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/09/android-11-stable-update-arrives-with-chat-bubbles-screen-recording-and-more/">Android 11 features</a> and the latest One UI 3.1 improvements like revamped UI, improved stock apps, One-time permissions and Permissions auto-reset, Dedicated Media Player widget(in Quick settings), and more.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-366596 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="4000" height="2250" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Samsung-Galaxy-M31-Ocean-Blue-Featured-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /></p>
<p>Parallelly, the Samsung Galaxy M31 is getting the incremental <a href="http://www.gizmochian.com/tag/one-ui-core-3.1">One UI Core 3.1</a>. Earlier, the company had rolled out the <a href="http://www.gizmochian.com/tag/one-ui-core-3.0">One UI Core 3.0</a> along with the Android 11 update to the budget device.</p>
<p>An OTA update with firmware version <strong>M315FXXU2BUC1 </strong>weighing about 1.193GB in size is now rolling out to the users of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m31/">Galaxy M31</a> in India. The changelog says improvements to camera, performance, and security. However, as the UI is now incremented, it should get features <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/10/376329-samsung-galaxy-m31s-android-11-update-one-ui-3-1-india/">like the Galaxy M31s</a>.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that the updates for both these devices include the latest March 2021 security patch. If you are someone living in either of these regions, do sure to check for the OTA(Over The Air) update by navigating to <strong>Settings &gt; Software update &gt; Download and install</strong>.</p>
<p>Considering <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> is in another league when it comes to updating its older devices, this update should expand to other regions in no time.</p>

<p>The Samsung Galaxy M31s recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/24/samsung-galaxy-m31s-vivo-v20-se-price-cut-drop-india/">received a price cut</a> of ₹1,000 in India. Hence, if you are looking to buy a Samsung smartphone with the latest software, the Galaxy M31s could be your best bet. Anyway, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m31s/">Galaxy M31s</a> is getting an OTA <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-m31s-one-ui-3-1-update-india/">update</a> with firmware version <strong>M317FXXU2CUB1</strong>.</p>
<p>Weighing about 1.93GB, the update brings the latest One UI Core 3.1 version and not the 3.0 like Russia and Ukraine. Anyway, this update also bumps up the security patch of the Galaxy M31s to February 2021.</p>
<p>This new UI not just brings the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/09/android-11-stable-update-arrives-with-chat-bubbles-screen-recording-and-more/">Android 11 features</a> but has UI improvements like revamped UI, Digital Wellbeing &amp; parental controls, dedicated media player widget(in Quick Settings), improved stock apps and features to Samsung Keyboard, Samsung Internet, and more.</p>
<p>Do note that this is Samsung&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-core">Core version</a> of the One UI so don&#8217;t expect every feature that is on its flagship devices. Besides, the report also says that <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> has removed the microSD card access to its cloning feature &#8216;Dual Messenger&#8217;. It seems users will have to go to Gallery/My Files-&gt;Select file-&gt;Share via sharesheet-&gt;copy App.</p>
<p>That said, Indian users can update their device to the latest One UI 3.1 by navigating to Settings &gt; Software update &gt; Download and install. As usual, the rollout should be staggered and hence, take a few days to reach everyone.</p>

<p>As reported by Piunikaweb, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-3.1">One UI 3.1</a> <a href="https://piunikaweb.com/2021/02/23/samsung-galaxy-s20-one-ui-3-1-update-india/">update</a> for India has the firmware version <strong>G98xFXXU6DUB5</strong>. It weighs 1246.69MB and brings the latest UI to the Galaxy S20+(SM-G985F) variant. Certain users in Samsung community forums have <a href="https://r2.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-Plus-One-UI-3-1/m-p/7275249">confirmed</a> that e-SIM functionality is enabled after this update.</p>
<p>As you can see below, the screenshot on the forums <a href="https://r2.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S/eSim-support-for-S20-added-with-OneUi-3-1/td-p/7278146">shows</a> the eSIM options inside settings-&gt; SIM Card Manager. If you recall, Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/02/12/samsung-galaxy-s20-and-galaxy-s20-plus-launch-with-significant-upgrades/">launched the Galaxy S20 series</a> in February 2020. Back then, the devices in India had the support for eSIM but Samsung had disabled it.</p>
<p>So, for using a secondary SIM card, one had to take out the memory card out and use the slot for another network. For the unware, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20">Samsung Galaxy S20</a> <a href="https://www.samsung.com/in/smartphones/galaxy-s20/specs/">comes</a> with a Hybrid-SIM slot i.e., users can use a nano-SIM + microSD card or two nano-SIMs at a time.<br />
Anyway, with eSIM enabled, you can now use the device with two networks and an SD card simultaneously.</p>

<p>Also, that&#8217;s not the only thing the One UI 3.1 update brings to the table. Just like other regions(South Korea, UK, Europe), the Indian region also brings  Improved performance, Private Share, GPS location data removal on Images, more Lock screen widgets, Background Video Calling, Zoom Lock(in camera), and more.</p>
<p>That said, the update should enable the eSIM features for other regions(like the USA) as well.</p>
<p>Recently, Samsung upped the ante yesterday by extending security update support for 4 years in total. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/22/samsung-extends-security-updates-to-four-years-for-several-of-its-phones/">eligible devices</a> including the Galaxy Z, S, Note, A, M, XCover, and Tab series will receive monthly/quarterly updates accordingly.</p>

You can take a look at the list below:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20">Samsung Galaxy S20</a></li>

<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-5g">Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G</a></li>
</ul>
<p>*-The Galaxy S20 FE started receiving it a  few days ago but Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/13/samsung-pulls-galaxy-s20-fe-one-ui-3-1-update/">had to pull it back</a> reportedly due to various issues.</p>
<p>Samsung launched the One UI 3.1 back when it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/14/samsung-galaxy-s21-ultra-launched-as-the-first-s-series-phone-with-s-pen-support/">announced</a> the Galaxy S21 series of devices in January. These devices are the first ones to carry the UI out of the box. It then started updating the older devices by pushing the UI update via OTA(Over-The-Air).</p>
<p>Anyway, the latest update is rolling out to various regions in the UK, Europe(like Austria, Germany), and South Korea. If you are someone living in these regions, you can try out the new features by navigating to Software Update in Settings.</p>
<p>The One UI 3.1 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/10/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-5g-gets-one-ui-3-1-update/">brings features</a> like Improved performance, Private Share, GPS location data removal on Images, more Lock screen widgets, Background Video Calling, Google Discover on Home Screen, Zoom Lock(in camera), and more.</p>
<p>That said, a report by Sammobile <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/psa-one-ui-3-1-update-no-google-discover/">says</a> that Samsung hasn&#8217;t brought the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google-discover">Google Discover</a>, Google Messages to the devices with this update. This means it is still exclusive to the Galaxy S21 devices for now.</p>
<p>Users in other regions need not panic as Samsung will eventually roll out the update soon in the coming days. Also, in the news, Samsung has mentioned devices like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a90">Galaxy A90</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a70">Galaxy A70</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a80">Galaxy A80</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a51">Galaxy A51</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a71">A71</a>. We will have to wait for a few days to know when Samsung starts their rollout.</p>

This was a surprise rollout as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/09/samsungs-one-ui-3-0android-11-europe-timeline/">ETA</a> was till February 2021. Anyway, the company has surprised the users by rolling out the next version of the UI, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-3.1">One UI 3.1</a> to this device.</p>
<figure id="attachment_348581" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-348581" style="width: 591px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-348581" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Galasy-S20-FE-5G-China.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G China" width="591" height="372" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Galasy-S20-FE-5G-China.jpg 591w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Samsung-Galasy-S20-FE-5G-China-300x189.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 591px) 100vw, 591px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-348581" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G&#8217;s color variants for China</figcaption></figure>
<p>Samsung introduced the One UI 3.1 alongside the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/14/samsung-galaxy-s21-and-galaxy-s21-announced-with-new-designs-new-chipsets-and-more/">Galaxy S21 launch</a> last month. This UI brings few improvements like Improved performance, Private Share, GPS location data removal on Images, more Lock screen widgets, Background Video Calling, Google Discover on Home Screen, and more.</p>
<p>The company then <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/19/galaxy-tab-s7-s7-get-one-ui-3-1-via-ota-update/">brought</a> it to the Galaxy Tab S7, S7+ making it first Samsung devices to get it via OTA update. Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE(SM-G781B) is the next in line to get the One UI 3.1 update.</p>
<p>Courtesy of Sammobile, the update with firmware version <strong>G781BXXU2CUB5 </strong>is <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s20-fe-one-ui-3-1-update-released/">rolling</a> out in the Majority of Europe. Countries like Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Romania, Spain, Germany, Nordic, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Slovenia, Baltic, Portugal and Poland are getting it.</p>
<p>Weighing about 1,708MB, it also brings the latest February 2021 Security patch. Also, XDADevelopers have <a href="https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-one-ui-3-1-update/">found</a> that the Bootloader has been incremented with this update. Hence, we advise you not to revert back to older firmware manually.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that this is the 5G Global variant of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. So, 4G users in other regions won&#8217;t be getting this firmware. That said, we can expect the latter to get the update sooner in the coming days.</p>
<p>If you are a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-5g/">Galaxy S20 FE 5G</a> user, Be sure to visit the Software Update section inside Settings to update the device and let us know in the comments how the device performs post-update.</p>
