<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/google/">Google</a> might be working on an interesting hardware tweak for the Pixel 11 series. A new feature spotted in Android 17 Beta 4 hints at something called Pixel Glow, which could bring back notification lights, just in a different way.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Google Pixel 11 CAD Renders" class="wp-image-732704" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502.jpg 1154w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The feature showed up in an APK teardown by AndroidAuthority, and from what’s visible, it looks like an LED-based notification system on the back of the phone. When the device is placed face down, it can light up in different colors or patterns to signal incoming calls, messages, or other alerts.</p>

<p>It’s basically a modern take on the old notification LED, just moved to the rear panel. Not exactly new as a concept, but still something we don’t really see on most phones right now.</p>

<p>Descriptions suggest the feature is meant to be subtle rather than distracting. It also looks like this won’t be something that can be added through software alone. The code mentions, &#8220;the device must have hardware lights,&#8221; so older Pixel devices are unlikely to get it.</p>

<p>Some of the strings hint at a bit more than just basic notifications. There could be custom lighting for favorite contacts, feedback during hands-free use, and even some kind of visual cue when interacting with Gemini. It’s not fully clear how all of this will work yet, but it does sound like Google is trying to make it feel more contextual, thanks to Gemini, rather than just blinking lights.</p>

<p>One slightly confusing part is the hardware side. Leaked <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/30/google-pixel-11-specs-tensor-g6-camera-features/">renders of the Pixel 11</a>, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/09/pixel-11-pro-fold-cad-renders-leak/">Pixel 11 Pro Fold</a> don’t show anything obvious on the back that looks like an LED system. So either it’s hidden in some way, or it’s planned for a later revision.</p>

<p>If it actually shows up on the Pixel 11 series, it could be one of those features people don’t think about much at first, but end up using every day.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Google Pixel 11 CAD Renders" class="wp-image-732704" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910433502.jpg 1154w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The device is reported to measure 152.8 x 72 x 8.5mm and is expected to feature a 6.3-inch LTPO AMOLED display. The overall footprint remains close to the Pixel 10, suggesting minimal changes in size and form factor. Flat sides continue to define the design, while the signature rear camera bar appears slightly larger but thinner. The triple rear camera layout remains intact.</p>

<p>Under the hood, the Pixel 11 is expected to run on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/google/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google</a>’s next-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/02/27/google-tensor-g6-may-have-appeared-early-on-geekbench-with-a-7-core-cpu/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tensor G6 processor</a>. The chipset is said to adopt a 7-core architecture and will reportedly be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process. The device may also mark a shift in connectivity hardware, replacing Samsung’s modem with a new MediaTek M90 modem.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910430896-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Google Pixel 11 CAD Renders" class="wp-image-732705" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910430896-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910430896-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910430896-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910430896-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910430896-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910430896-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image_1774910430896.jpg 1154w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Security is another area of upgrade. The phone is expected to feature a new Titan M3 security coprocessor, internally referred to as “Google Epic,” replacing the Titan M2 used in previous Pixel devices.</p>

<p>In terms of memory and storage, the Pixel 11 is likely to offer 12GB of RAM, with storage options starting at 128GB and going up to 256GB. There is also speculation that Google could increase the base storage to 256GB, in line with trends seen in recent flagship releases.</p>

<p>The device is expected to run Android 17 out of the box. On the camera front, new software-driven features are rumored, including an ultra-low-light video mode with on-device processing. This would allow high-quality video capture in dark conditions without relying on cloud processing. Additional features may include Cinematic Blur at 4K 30 fps and a video relight tool for adjusting lighting in recorded footage.</p>

<p>A 5,000mAh battery is also expected. Pricing is rumored to start at $799, similar to the previous model.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/google/">Google</a> could be planning a major change to its in-house silicon strategy. According to new leaks, the company’s upcoming Pixel 11 series may finally move away from Samsung’s modem tech — a decision that could address two of the biggest complaints about the Pixel lineup: battery life and connectivity.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Tensor-G6-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-709440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Tensor-G6-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Tensor-G6-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Tensor-G6-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Tensor-G6-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Tensor-G6-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Tensor-G6-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Tensor-G6.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The leak, shared by tipster Mystic Leaks on Telegram, claims that Google’s next chip, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/06/25/googles-tensor-g6-for-pixel-11-rumored-to-jump-to-2nm-for-major-performance-gains/">Tensor G6</a>, will no longer rely on Samsung hardware. Instead, the company is reportedly testing MediaTek’s M90 modem, which was <a href="https://www.mediatek.com/press-room/mediatek-introduces-m90-5g-advanced-modem-with-ai-and-12gbps-peak-speed">announced</a> earlier this year. For those unfamiliar, the Tensor G5 still uses Samsung&#8217;s Exynos 5400 modem to handle cellular connectivity. MediaTek&#8217;s alternative promises peak download speeds of up to 12Gbps, along with improved power efficiency and built-in support for dual 5G SIMs and satellite connectivity.</p>

<p>If true, this marks the first time Google has used MediaTek components in its flagship phones. It would also represent a clean break from Samsung’s Exynos modems, which have been blamed for excessive heat and faster battery drain during 5G use. Even with the switch to TSMC’s 3nm process in the current Tensor G5, Google’s chips have yet to match Qualcomm’s Snapdragon series in performance. For reference, here&#8217;s a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/08/tensor-g5-vs-tensor-g4-benchmarks-and-specs/">benchmark comparison</a> between the Tensor G5 and Tensor G4.</p>

<p>By partnering with MediaTek, Google seems to be taking a more practical approach — improving efficiency without rebuilding the Tensor architecture from scratch. The Pixel 11, expected to debut in late 2026, could see better endurance and connectivity thanks to MediaTek&#8217;s new modem. Google increased the battery capacity from 4,700 mAh on the Pixel 9 to 4,970 mAh on the Pixel 10, and a similar boost with the Pixel 11 could extend the runtime even further.</p>

<p>Still, some users remain cautious. The Tensor G5’s TSMC move brought modest gains but not the leap many had hoped for. Whether or how much MediaTek’s M90 can change that story remains to be seen.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/google/">Google</a> Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 may introduce significant upgrades in AI, and camera functionality, according to leaks from Google’s internal gChips division. These enhancements are driven largely by the Tensor G5 chip, anticipated to bring improved AI processing and new camera capabilities for the upcoming Pixel devices.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1000" height="562" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Google-Pixel-9-Series.webp?x10805" alt="Google Pixel 9 Series" class="wp-image-645290" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Google-Pixel-9-Series.webp 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Google-Pixel-9-Series-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Google-Pixel-9-Series-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Google-Pixel-9-Series-696x391.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Google-Pixel-9-Series-747x420.webp 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<h2>New AI-powered camera and editing features on Pixel 10:</h2>

<p>According to the leak, the Pixel 10 series will leverage the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tensor-g5/">Tensor G5</a>’s enhanced TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) to expand Google’s AI-driven photo and video editing features.</p>

<p>One rumored feature, “Video Generative ML,” aims to simplify video editing by applying Generative AI directly within the Photos app, allowing users to perform intuitive post-capture edits. Additionally, Google may introduce “Speak-to-Tweak,” an AI-powered tool for voice-activated photo editing, and “Sketch-to-Image,” enabling users to turn basic sketches into complete images. These capabilities could give Google an edge in media editing, a central focus of its Pixel lineup.</p>

<h2>Enhanced camera and low-light video capabilities on Pixel 11</h2>

<p>The Pixel 11 is expected to elevate Google’s camera game with several new features. Machine learning will support up to 100x zoom for both photos and videos, made possible by a next-gen telephoto lens. This feature will allow for a versatile, AI-assisted zoom experience, although differences in quality between photo and video may persist.</p>

<p>Further advancements include a “Cinematic Blur” with reduced power consumption and “Ultra Low Light Video,” or “Night Sight Video,” which will enable clearer low-light recordings on-device. This mode should function optimally at extremely low light levels, comparable to dim candlelight, thanks to improvements in the camera hardware.</p>

<h2>Tensor G5 could bring a major improvement in efficiency</h2>

<p>Manufactured with TSMC’s 3nm process, it is expected to offer <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/24/pixel-10s-tensor-g5-finally-uses-tsmcs-3nm-process-but-with-weird-core-choices/">much-improved performance</a> without excessive power drain, a critical factor when it comes to sustainability in resource-intensive tasks such as high-resolution video recording. This increase in power efficiency is also important for the on-device execution of AI-based features.</p>
