Xiaomi has been releasing gaming products under the Redmi sub-brand for quite some time now, and we can now say that they have introduced a great gaming television, Redmi MAX. What makes this television a ‘gaming TV‘ is its screen refresh rate of 144Hz. This television is not just for watching movies; you can play your console games smoothly on a massive 100-inch screen with a 144Hz refresh rate.

At today’s big launch event, Xiaomi introduced several products, and the Redmi MAX TV is one of them. The television is available for preorder in China. If you order between April 10th and April 30th, Xiaomi will also gift you a Xiaomi TV speaker valued at 1499 CNY (approximately 207 USD).

Redmi MAX comes with a 4K resolution and a 144Hz backlit panel. It would be a terrible idea to use a resolution lower than 4K on a giant 100-inch screen, so Xiaomi’s choice here is quite fitting. While the screen operates at a refresh rate of 144Hz, when you activate Xiaomi’s so-called “competitive mode,” it achieves a refresh rate of 240Hz. The maximum brightness of the Redmi MAX is 700 nits, which is quite good for indoor environments.

Xiaomi’s new television works seamlessly with HyperOS devices and features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 standard. The television is powered by a chip consisting of Cortex A73 quad-core processors. It has 3 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, and 1 Ethernet port. The television supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, as well as HDR10+. Additionally, it has two built-in 15W speakers. The television measures approximately 2.2 meters in width, 1.2 meters in length, and weighs around 63 kg. It’s safe to say that Xiaomi’s new Redmi MAX TV is truly massive.

Earlier today (15th March 2022), Xiaomi teased the upcoming Redmi K50 series that is set to be unveiled on March 17. But, the teaser didn’t stop their as the company also shared promotional images for a new Redmi MAX series of smart TVs that will launch in China soon.

According to Lu Weibing, Redmi General Manager, the Chinese tech giant is planning on upgrading the Redmi Max series of smart TVs across the board. Furthermore, these new large TVs will also be unveiled alongside the new Redmi K50 series in the brand’s home market. Xiaomi had just announced new laptops and TVs today, including the likes of the RedmiBook Pro 2022 that featured 12th Gen Intel chip and the new Redmi MAX smart TV model as well, which received its “biggest update in history.”

Recently, we had covered a Bluetooth SIG and 3C certification, which listed the Redmi MAX 100 inch Giant Screen TV. In other words, this new teaser basically confirms that the new MAX TV will feature a humongous 100 inch panel. This model will also be the successor of the Redmi Smart TV 98 inch MAX that was released back in 2020. The predecessor sported a 98 inch panel and offered 4K resolution, so we can also expect a similar resolution if not higher with the upcoming model.

The Bluetooth SIG certification also revealed some additional information, like support for Bluetooth 5.0. Meanwhile, the 3C listing showed that it will support the usual 60Hz refresh rate. Unfortunately, this is all the information we have regarding this new Redmi MAX series TV, so we will have to wait for the official launch to know more details regarding the new smart TV.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a lot of disruption around the world and hardware-based technology companies are facing several issues related to production. It has also created a global shortage of chipsets.

Now, Xiaomi has announced that due to the global supply and demand issues, and the fluctuating exchange rates, the company is increasing the prices of TVs. This is mainly due to the varying prices of core components, including display panels and chips and the company believes that it will be a long time before the prices go down.

Currently, the pricing of the Redmi MAX 86-inch has risen to 9,999 yuan, which is approximately $1,532. This represents an increase of 2,000 yuan (~$306) as the earlier pricing was 7,999 yuan (~$1,226).

The Redmi MAX series flaunts an 86-inch LED-backlit LCD 4K panel with a screen resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate and support for MEMC. The screen supports 10-bit color, HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, and covers 92% of the DCI-P3 color gamut with color accuracy of ΔE ≦2. It also has the usual 178° viewing angle.

It is powered by an unknown chipset with a quad-core CPU (ARM Cortex-A73), ARM Mali-G52 MC1 GPU, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. It runs MIUI for TV 3.0, which includes content integration and smart features like Xiao Ai voice assistant and more.

As for connectivity and ports, the television sports dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, Infrared, 2 X USB Type-A, AV, ATV/DTMB, S/PDIF, Ethernet, and 3 x HDMI. One of the three HDMI ports is v2.1 with support for 120Hz VRR and ALLM. So, users can connect their Sony PS5 or Microsoft Xbox Series X to experience 4K 120Hz gaming. It comes with 2 x 12.5 speakers to deliver the sound output of 25W and also support Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD.
