Last month, Xiaomi-backed Redmi had announced the Redmi Smart TV Max 100-inch model in the Chinese market. Today, the product officially goes on sale in China for the price of 19,999 yuan which roughly converts to $3,140.

With the launch of this new 100-inch display model in the Chinese market, the company now has three models in the Redmi Smart TV Max lineup as the brand had previously launched 98-inch and 86-inch models.

The Redmi Smart TV Max 100-inch also goes by the name of Redmi MAX TV 100-inch or Redmi MAX 100-inch Jumbo TV. As the name itself indicates, the product features a massive 100-inch LED Backlit (DLED) LCD display.

It comes with a multi-zone backlight system and an ambient light sensor for auto-brightness. The TV offers a 4K screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, up to 700nits brightness, and 94 percent DCI-P3 color gamut.

The device also supports a variable refresh rate of 48Hz to 120Hz and offers up to 4s latency via ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). The 10-bit display offers colors accuracy of ΔE≈2, MEMC, and support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced, and AMD FreeSync.

Under the hood, the Redmi Smart TV Max 100-inch is powered by a quad-core chipset that has ARM Cortex-A73 cores and ARM Mali-G52 MC1 graphics processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The TV houses two 15W speakers (30W) with support for Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio, and DTS-HD. As for the connectivity, the Smart TV has multiple ports, including an HDMI 2.1 port, two HDMI 2.0 ports, two USB ports, AV, Ethernet, S/PDIF, and Antenna. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

In the software department, it comes with MIUI TV which supports all the leading streaming platforms in China and smart home connectivity. For businesses, the company is offering MIUI TV Enterprise Edition.

At the Redmi K40 series launch event, Xiaomi’s sub-brand also announced three other products, namely RedmiBook Pro 14/15, Redmi MAX TV 86”, and Redmi AirDots 3. Let’s take a look at the brand’s second large-sized television in this post.

Redmi MAX TV 86” Specifications and Features

As the name suggests, the second television model in the Redmi MAX series flaunts an 86-inch LED-backlit LCD panel with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels (4K) and a 120Hz refresh rate. For those unaware, last year’s 98-inch TV does not have any high refresh rate but it features MEMC, which is present on the newer model as well.

Also, the screen supports 10-bit color, HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, and covers 92% of the DCI-P3 color gamut with color accuracy of ΔE ≦2. It also has the usual 178° viewing angle.

Further, the TV is powered by an unknown chipset with a quad-core CPU (ARM Cortex-A73), ARM Mali-G52 MC1 GPU, 2GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage. As for software, it runs MIUI for TV 3.0, which includes content integration and smart features like Xiao Ai voice assistant and more.

As for connectivity and ports, the television sports dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, Infrared, 2 X USB Type-A, AV, ATV/DTMB, S/PDIF, Ethernet, and 3 x HDMI. One of the three HDMI ports is v2.1 with support for 120Hz VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). Hence, users can connect their Sony PS5 or Microsoft Xbox Series X to experience 4K 120Hz gaming.

Lastly, talking about audio, the TV comes with 2 x 12.5 speakers to deliver a maximum sound output of 25W. These speakers also support Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD.

Redmi MAX TV 86” Pricing and Availability

Redmi has priced the Redmi MAX TV 86” at ¥7,999 ($1,239). It will be available for purchase in China, starting from March 4. There’s no word on international availability.

If you are interested in getting a cheap large-sized Xiaomi television outside China, the company recently announced a QLED TV called Mi TV Q1 75” in Europe.

Last year, Xiaomi launched its largest smart TV ever called Redmi Smart TV MAX 98”.  Almost a year later, the company has now started teasing another such model. This television is said to be announced at the Redmi K40 series launch event, which is scheduled for February 25.

Xiaomi’s official smart TV Weibo account posted a teaser for the upcoming Redmi MAX TV. In the post, the company asks netizens to guess the size of the newer model to win a Bluetooth speaker. 

So far, the company has not revealed any highlights of this TV. The firm has only hinted that the forthcoming Redmi MAX TV will be ‘so big that it almost can’t get into the elevator’.

For those unaware, the Redmi Smart TV MAX 98” released in 2020 is Xiaomi’s largest television till now. As the name suggests, this television flaunts a 98-inch LED-backlit LCD panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) and a 60Hz refresh rate. The screen has a 178° viewing angle, 98.8% screen-to-body ratio, and supports 85% of the NTSC color gamut.

It is powered by an Amlogic T972 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. On the connectivity front, the TV comes with dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, Infrared, 3 x HDMI (one of them is ARC compatible), AV composite, DTMB port, 2 x USB, Ethernet, and S/PDIF.

Other features of this TV include 2 x 8W speakers, Dolby Audio, DTS-HD, HDR, MEMC, Xiao AI voice assistant, and PatchWall content aggregation service. The product debuted for ¥19,999 and it is still listed at the same price on Mi.com.

Because of its sheer size, the Redmi Smart TV MAX 98” was only available online for a long time. It finally hit a single offline store in December 2020. This television is difficult to manufacture and its installation requires a specially trained workforce.

Xiaomi announced the Redmi Smart TV MAX 98-inch back in March in China. This is the company’s Biggest TV by-far in the country. After multiple sales across its online channels, Xiaomi is finally ready to let users experience the 98-inch madness in a store and buy it offline.

As Mydrivers reports, Xiaomi‘s Mi Home Weibo has shared an official post regarding the arrival of the TV. Accordingly, Xiaomi will open a new Mi Shenyang Changbai Wanxianghui store on December 12 in China. The Mi Home store will be located in Shenyang city, northeast Liaoning Province of the country. Anyway, at the launch, the company says it will unveil the Redmi Smart TV MAX 98-inch for the first time in an offline store.

If you recall, the company, despite announcing the TV two weeks back, launched the 98-inch TV only on 9th April, 2020 in China. Priced at 19,999 yuan($3054), the TV was available for sale online via Xiaomi Mall and official website. Now, after about eight-months of sale, the company seems to be bringing it to the offline market as well.

That said, the improvement in sales could have made the company push it for the offline segment. To be precise, the company first sold over 1,500 units in less than 11 hours back in June. Later, it followed this trend with another 1,600 unit sales in a single day. Having said that, we need to wait and see how Xiaomi manages to attract the offline audience to buy this humongous TV.

Coming back, Xiaomi says the new Store will also include gifts for people who buy the Redmi Smart TV MAX 98-inch. One such is the Redmi Note 9 as per the company’s post. However, it’s unclear if the gift will be a 4G or one of the 5G versions. Additionally, there are other surprise gifts as well but they are supposed to be limited.

The Redmi Smart TV MAX 98-inch is as tall as the company’s founder Lei Jun. The TV is huge and complex to build as well. Consequently, installing the TV at your home also requires a special professional team. Some of the notable features include a 98-inch 4K UHD display panel(LCD) that has 85% NTSC color gamut, 192 dynamic backlight zones, MEMC motion compensation, custom Amlogic T972 SoC with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and more image quality tuning technology.

Xiaomi has today released a sales report related to the company’s 10th anniversary sale season. In the report, the company reveals that it managed to sell more than 1,660 units of the Redmi Smart TV Max 98.

Making the announcement on Weibo, the company said that “the 98-inch TV models sold less than 100 units per month in the market but now Redmi sold more than 1,000 units in a single day.” The company believes that it has now managed to popularize the big-screen Smart TVs and has facilitated people to have high-end big-screen TV in their homes.

The numbers posted by Xiaomi are quite impressive given that almost a 100-inch TV is a new category and now many people are interested in having such as massive-sized TV in their homes nor many have the facility for this. Even if they want, not everyone is ready to shell out the money.

The Redmi Smart TV Max 98 costs 19,999 Yuan, which roughly converts to around $2,825, which is comparatively less than what other companies in this same segment charges. Thus, the pricing could a major factor behind such demand for the 98-inch TV from Xiaomi.
