Last year, Xiaomi announced the Mi Soundbar in India. The soundbar, which is also sold in China, provides a boost in audio for televisions and can also be used as a standalone Bluetooth speaker. Now a successor is on the way but will arrive under a different name – the Redmi Soundbar 2.0.

The Redmi Soundbar 2.0 was certified by the Bluetooth SIG today. The certificate reveals the speaker has model number MDZ-34-DA and supports Bluetooth 5.0. The Mi Soundbar from last year connected via Bluetooth 4.2.

The rest of the specs are still unknown but we expect it to offer a range of other connectivity options such as Optical, SPDIF, and Auxilliary modes. We also expect it to have a more impressive audio quality compared to the Mi Soundbar.

Redmi launched its first TV last year, a 70-inch behemoth with a price tag around $550. No new models have been announced yet but we won’t be surprised if there is a launch around the corner for new models. Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing, said the Redmi K30 Pro’s launch will be for more than just smartphones. This means there is a high chance the Redmi Soundbar 2.0 will be announced on that day too.
