According to an ETNews report, Samsung is forecasted to bring 75.26 trillion KRW (roughly $63 billion) in sales and 15.07 trillion KRW (roughly $12 billion) in operating profit in the fourth quarter of this year. In other words, the South Korean tech giant’s sales surpassed the third quarter of this year, while also marking an increase of 67 percent over the same period last year. Furthermore, the company is forecasted to earn 278.67 trillion KRW (roughly $234 billion) annually in 2022, which is its highest ever revenue that even crosses its 2018 earnings,

During this year, the company’s operating profits are expected to hit 52.83 trillion KRW (roughly $44 billion), which is also the highest since 2018. The news also arrives amid an explosive demand for semiconductors. Daishin Securities researcher, Soo-bin Lee stated that “Samsung Electronics is expected to enter the upcycle of DRAM memory semiconductors in the new year,” while another researcher, Yu-mi Cha, said that “The situation of automotive semiconductor parts shortage will improve after the first half of the year.”

Similarly, South Korea’s LG is also expecting record performance this year. Its overall sales and operating profits is projected to hit 19.67 trillion KRW (roughly $16 billion) and 831.3 billion KRW (roughly $700 million) respectively. However, while the company saw record high revenue, its operating profits were lower than the first quarter of this year. Despite this, the brand is projected to hit 73.70 trillion KRW (roughly $62 billion) in annual sales for the first time in its history while its annual operating profit is expected to hit the record high of 4 trillion KRW (roughly $3 billion).

According to a DigiTimes report, the chip making giant’s revenue reached 41.33 billion New Taiwan Dollars (roughly 1.5 billion US Dollars) in the month of May. On the other hand, the total revenue for the first five months of this year arrived at 185.93 billion New Taiwan Dollars (roughly 6.7 billion US Dollars), marking another significant growth of 80.2 percent year on year.

MediaTek also announced that it is on track to meet its initial sales growth estimate for the second quarter of this year, which is set between 10 to 18 percent over last year. Furthermore, the firm announced that it is working closely with its backend partners to reduce the impacts of the COVID cluster infections at OSAT King Yuan Electronics (KYEC). The company stated that it is also set to meet its expectations for the full year sales growth and gross margin guidance.

Previously, the fabless chip producer had estimated that its revenue will rise by over 40 percent in this year, recording somewhere between a 44 percent to 46 percent gross margin. The news arrives despite the two day fab closure at KYEC that led to 30 to 35 percent loss in its June output.

According to a StrategyAnalytics report, the market brought in a high figure with Apple leading the industry. Earlier, we had reported on the iPhone 12 series accounted for the highest sales number and revenue in the entire market. Linda Sui, Senior Director, at Strategy Analytics stated that “Apple and Samsung remain clear front runners in revenue terms but competition among the chasing pack is intense. Vivo surpassed Huawei and nudged up to the third place this quarter, for the first time ever.”

Similarly, Senior Analyst Yiwen Wu also added that “The global smartphone market is remarkable with 25% of revenue coming from super premium devices with wholesale prices above $900. Apple and Samsung dominate these hugely profitable segments. Vivo has seen success and is ranked first in the $400 to $499 wholesale band, while Oppo led in the US$191 to $299 range in Q1 2021. Transsion maintained the leadership in entry tier (US$36 to $99) this quarter.”

While Samsung and Apple dominated the market, Chinese smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and others also fought over market share. The overall revenue during this period also reached a new record high for this quarter.

According to a DigiTimes report, the chip maker has even raised its internal revenue growth and gross margin projections for this year to 40 percent and 44 to 46 percent respectively. Furthermore, the company is even expecting the momentum to stay strong next year as well, as per sources close to the matter. The company has even begun talks with its partners in its supply chain regarding capacity support for 2022 and has also achieved good results so far, as per the source.

Additionally, MediaTek has reported its consolidated revenue for the first quarter of this year, which is around 108.3 billion New Taiwan Dollars. This figure is up from 12.1 percent sequentially and also marks a significant rise of 77.5 percent year on year. During the same period, the chip maker also had a gross margin of around 44.9 percent and net profits of 25.77 billion US Dollars.
