<p>Samsung has officially discontinued the Galaxy Z TriFold in the United States, marking the end of the device’s brief lifecycle. The company confirmed that the limited-edition foldable is now “completely sold out,” with no plans for further restocks. With this, the TriFold is no longer available in both the US and South Korea.</p>

<p>The device was first introduced in very limited quantities in South Korea, where it quickly disappeared after a short sales period. Samsung then continued selling small batches in the US, but availability remained restricted. The final restock on April 10 sold out rapidly, effectively ending the product’s availability worldwide.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="612" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-146-1024x612.png?x23692" alt="" class="wp-image-735295" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-146-1024x612.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-146-300x179.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-146-768x459.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-146-696x416.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-146-1068x638.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-146-703x420.png 703w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image-146.png 1237w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>https://www.samsung.com/us/smartphones/galaxy-z-trifold/</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Galaxy Z TriFold was never meant to be a mainstream smartphone. Instead, it was positioned as an experimental and limited-run device designed to showcase Samsung’s innovation in foldable technology. Its tri-fold design with dual hinges made it unique, but also limited its appeal to niche users and early adopters.</p>

<p>Samsung has advised customers to keep an eye on its official website for upcoming devices. As alternatives, the company suggests the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy S26 Ultra, though neither offers the same tri-fold experience.</p>

<p>Despite the short lifespan of the first model, Samsung appears committed to the concept. Reports suggest that a successor, possibly called the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, is already in development and could launch in the coming years. Expected improvements include a thinner and lighter design, addressing some limitations of the original.</p>

<p>Galaxy Z TriFold stands as a short-lived but important step in Samsung’s foldable journey, highlighting what future smartphone designs could look like.</p>

From ambitious foldables and productivity-oriented flagships to fresh takes on connectivity and communication, the show offered glimpses of what to expect in the smartphone landscape through 2026.</p>

<h2><strong>Foldables and flagship innovations</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="553" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-1024x553.png?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold images" class="wp-image-718264" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-1024x553.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-300x162.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-768x415.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-1536x829.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-696x376.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-1068x577.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-778x420.png 778w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>One of the most eye-catching phones at CES 2026 was the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-trifold">Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold</a>, a tri-folding device that opens up into a large 10-inch internal display while still folding into a compact form. This much-talked-about phone runs on a powerful Snapdragon chipset and features a 200-megapixel main camera, aiming to blend productivity and entertainment in a single device. Samsung announced pricing at 3.59 million won (around $3,700) in Korea, with wider global availability planned in the coming months.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Moto-Razr-Fold-with-stylus-input-leak.jpg?x23692" alt="Moto-Razr-Fold-with-stylus-input-leak" class="wp-image-722315" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Moto-Razr-Fold-with-stylus-input-leak.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Moto-Razr-Fold-with-stylus-input-leak-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Moto-Razr-Fold-with-stylus-input-leak-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Moto-Razr-Fold-with-stylus-input-leak-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Moto-Razr-Fold-with-stylus-input-leak-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption>Motorola Razr Fold</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Motorola joined the foldable conversation with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-razr-fold">Motorola Razr Fold</a>, a new book-style foldable that brings an 8.1-inch internal display and a 6.6-inch external screen into a design that pays homage to its classic Razr lineage. It also integrates a triple 50-megapixel camera array and stylus support that aims to appeal to productivity-oriented users.</p>

<p>Flagship phones also featured strongly. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-signature">Motorola’s Signature</a> phone, equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 performance, a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED display and a 50-megapixel triple camera setup, was priced at about €999 (approximately $1,170) in its initial European markets.</p>

<h2><strong>Fresh ideas and practical picks</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/TCL-NxtPaper-70-Pro-1024x640.png?x23692" alt="TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro" class="wp-image-722433" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/TCL-NxtPaper-70-Pro-1024x640.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/TCL-NxtPaper-70-Pro-300x188.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/TCL-NxtPaper-70-Pro-768x480.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/TCL-NxtPaper-70-Pro-696x435.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/TCL-NxtPaper-70-Pro-1068x668.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/TCL-NxtPaper-70-Pro-672x420.png 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/TCL-NxtPaper-70-Pro.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>TCL Nxtpaper 70 Pro</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Beyond foldables and traditional flagship models, several devices stood out for their unique propositions. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/06/tcl-nxtpaper-70-pro-with-nxtpaper-4-0-display-announced/">TCL’s Nxtpaper 70 Pro</a> grabbed interest with its eye-friendly matte display and Gemini AI support, bringing a fresh idea for mid-range phones. The 256 GB configuration was announced at €339 (around $400), positioning it as a compelling alternative in its segment.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Infinix-Note-60-global-satellite-connectivity-for-HD-calls.jpg?x23692" alt="Infinix Note 60 global satellite connectivity for HD calls" class="wp-image-722571" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Infinix-Note-60-global-satellite-connectivity-for-HD-calls.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Infinix-Note-60-global-satellite-connectivity-for-HD-calls-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Infinix-Note-60-global-satellite-connectivity-for-HD-calls-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Infinix-Note-60-global-satellite-connectivity-for-HD-calls-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Infinix-Note-60-global-satellite-connectivity-for-HD-calls-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption>Infinix Note 60 has global satellite connectivity for HD calls</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Infinix also made a notable appearance with its Infinix Note 60 series, highlighted for global satellite calling and messaging support, a feature that allows basic communication even where conventional networks are unavailable. While official pricing hasn’t been fully confirmed, the innovative connectivity and the introduction of HydroFlow liquid cooling and ModuVerse modular accessory support suggest that Infinix is aiming for a mix of utility and differentiated features at an attractive price point.</p>

<p>A particularly intriguing announcement at CES 2026 was the Clicks Communicator, a smartphone designed with a physical QWERTY keyboard that evokes the nostalgia of classic BlackBerry-style devices. It features a 4.03-inch AMOLED screen, Android 16 with support for major messaging apps, a 50-megapixel rear camera, and 256 GB of storage expandable up to 2 TB via microSD. The device was priced at $499 for full retail, with early reservation pricing starting at $399.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="676" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63-1024x676.png?x23692" alt="Clicks Communicator" class="wp-image-723047" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63-1024x676.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63-300x198.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63-768x507.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63-1536x1015.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63-696x460.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63-1068x706.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63-636x420.png 636w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/image-63.png 1653w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Clicks Communicator</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Communicator’s focus on messaging and productivity offers a different take on smartphone use, where tactile input and streamlined communication replace hours of endless scrolling. It also includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a 4,000 mAh battery, and is pitched both as a secondary device and a possible primary phone for enthusiasts of physical keyboards.</p>

<p>Overall, the best phones at CES 2026 highlighted varied approaches to smartphone innovation, with foldables pushing new form factors, flagships reinforcing performance standards, and mid-range devices like TCL’s matte display phone and Infinix’s satellite-enabled models proving that innovation is not limited to premium segments. Unconventional devices such as the Clicks Communicator also showed there is still room for ideas focused on communication and productivity, as brands continue to experiment beyond conventional slab-style smartphones.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung">Samsung</a> Galaxy Z TriFold is now available for pre-order in China, marking the company’s entry into the tri-fold category for the local market. Here’s a look at the variants, pricing, and specifications of the device.</p>

<h3><strong>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Price and variants</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="562" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/image-58-1024x562.png?x23692" alt="" class="wp-image-718265" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/image-58-1024x562.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/image-58-300x165.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/image-58-768x422.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/image-58-696x382.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/image-58-1068x586.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/image-58-765x420.png 765w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/image-58.png 1337w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold price in China</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-tri-fold/">Galaxy Z TriFold</a> is offered in two memory configurations for China. The 16GB+512GB variant is priced at 19999 yuan (~$2,830), while the 16GB and 1TB model is priced at 21999 Yuan (~$3,110). Pre-orders are underway through Samsung’s online store, with the device arriving in a single black finish.</p>

<p>Naturally, the Galaxy Z TriFold enters the same category as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-xts">Huawei’s Mate XTs</a>, which launched in September and marked Huawei’s debut in the tri fold segment. The Mate XTs comes in three variants, with the 16GB+256GB model priced at 17,999 Yuan (~$2,550). Its 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB versions share identical pricing with Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold, placing both devices head-to-head in the ultra-premium foldable market.</p>

<h3><strong>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold specifications</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="553" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-1024x553.png?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold images" class="wp-image-718264" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-1024x553.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-300x162.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-768x415.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-1536x829.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-696x376.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-1068x577.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images-778x420.png 778w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-images.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Samsung uses an inward fold setup that shields the main display and enables smoother movement across the hinge. Once unfolded, the device presents <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/02/samsung-galaxy-z-trifold-launched-price-specifications/">a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel</a> with QXGA resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits peak brightness. The screen real estate equals the combined area of three 6.5-inch smartphone displays, supporting multiple apps side by side. The outer screen measures 6.5 inches with high brightness levels up to 2600 nits for outdoor viewing.</p>

<p>The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy platform and carries a 5,600mAh battery divided across the three panels for even weight distribution and stable thermal behaviour. Charging supports 45W speeds.</p>

<p>The rear camera array includes a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. Both the inner and outer displays hold 10-megapixel front cameras for video calls and quick capture.</p>

<p>Samsung’s updated hinge features a dual-rail mechanism that addresses varying component loads across the body. The frame uses reinforced aluminium and a ceramic fibre back to enhance durability while keeping the folded thickness close to 12mm and the overall weight around 309 grams.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z TriFold runs One UI 8 based on Android 16 and aligns closely with Galaxy AI features such as generative editing, photo tools and browser assistance. The device also introduces a standalone version of Samsung DeX, allowing desktop-style productivity directly on the 10-inch display without an external monitor. Users can work with up to four desktops and run multiple windows simultaneously.</p>

<p>The Chinese variant adds satellite calling through Tiantong, offering direct connectivity during emergency situations when conventional networks are unavailable.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> has been making foldables for years now, and most of them follow the same formula. It opens like a book into a small tablet and tries its best to convince you that the future is flexible.&nbsp;</p>

<p>An extension of that idea now comes in the form of the new<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/02/samsung-galaxy-z-trifold-launched-price-specifications/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Galaxy Z TriFold</a>.&nbsp; This is the company’s first tri-folding device, a phone with three display segments connected by two hinges. Open it up, and you get a 10-inch tablet; fold it down, and it shrinks to the size of a thick phone.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--1024x683.jpg?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold" class="wp-image-717441" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Nothing about the idea is particularly wild. People have been asking for a “proper tablet that folds smaller” since the first Fold came out. But the Z TriFold is the first time Samsung has actually committed to turning that idea into a consumer product.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>How it differs from Samsung’s previous foldables</strong></h3>

<p>If you’ve used a Galaxy Z Fold at any point, you’ll recognize the overall approach. The TriFold still has a cover display on the outside and a larger tablet-like panel inside. But where past devices worked with one long flexible panel, the TriFold uses two hinges and three separate screen sections.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When you open it, the panels line up to form a single 10-inch display. Close it, and everything collapses inward until you end up with a 6.5-inch phone.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1.jpeg?x23692" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>It’s basically Samsung taking the Fold concept and extending it. Instead of doubling the screen area like the Z Fold, the TriFold triples it. And while that sounds simple on paper, it introduces an entirely different set of engineering problems: hinge alignment, panel uniformity, crease management, and overall durability.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Samsung says it redesigned the hinge structure using two different titanium rails to keep wobble down and reduce the gap between folded sections. It’s still early to know how well this works in daily use, though.</p>

<p>One thing Samsung did stick with is protecting the inner panels. The TriFold folds inward, so when it’s closed, no part of the inner screen is left exposed on the outside.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/03/how-is-samsung-galaxy-z-trifold-different-from-huawei-mate-xts/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei’s tri-fold</a>, in comparison, keeps the part of the inner panel exposed on the outside, which makes it an extra hassle to take care of.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>What the TriFold is trying to be</strong></h3>

<p>The idea behind the TriFold isn’t mysterious. Samsung is targeting people who treat their phones like small computers. You can do multitasking on a regular fold, but TriFold’s 10-inch screen takes that experience to another level.&nbsp;</p>

<p>You can open two apps in a relatively wide canvas and three in a mode that imitates a regular smartphone. Samsung has also thoughtfully designed the OS to take advantage of this extra screen.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Like in File Manager, the layout you’re greeted with is more similar to a PC than a smartphone. You can see the main folder, subdirectory, and the actual file, all on one screen.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="580" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system-1024x580.jpg?x23692" alt="" class="wp-image-717651" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system-1024x580.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system-300x170.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system-768x435.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system-1536x870.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system-696x394.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system-1068x605.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system-741x420.jpg 741w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-file-system.jpg 1610w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Galaxy Z TriFold Files App. Image: Mrwhosetheboss</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>More impressively, you can now use Samsung DeX in the smartphone itself. DeX is one unique take on offering a desktop-like experience to phone users. And while it usually requires a connected monitor or TV to function, the TriFold allows you to use it without additional setup. Users familiar with DeX know the convenience it would bring to their lives.</p>

<p>Since it&#8217;s doing so much, it makes sense that Samsung is only shipping the TriFold with 16GB of RAM. You will have ample memory for multitasking and AI models to run side by side.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>The trade-offs are hard to ignore</strong></h3>

<p>The biggest shift in design also comes with the biggest set of compromises.</p>

<p>It’s heavier and thicker than a normal Fold. Even though Samsung advertises an impressively thin 3.9mm profile when opened, the phone becomes noticeably chunky once folded twice.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At around 309 grams, it’s heavier than most flagship phones and even some small tablets. There’s no way around that; adding more panels and hinges simply adds mass.</p>

<p>And there’s still a crease, in fact, now, two of them. Samsung’s foldables have been improving on crease visibility, but a tri-fold will naturally introduce more noticeable transitions between panels. We’ll need long-term testing to see how distracting it feels and how well it holds up.</p>

<p>S Pen support is missing. This is a surprising omission. A big foldable tablet seems like the perfect place for a stylus, but Samsung hasn’t included S Pen functionality here. It’s likely a technical limitation as third-panel flexing and thin internal layers leave less room for the digitizer tech Samsung uses.</p>

<p>Also, the launch is limited, and the price is extremely high. Samsung is starting with Korea, followed by select regions. The price will unsurprisingly be more than the regular Fold, but Samsung is yet to reveal that.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>The hardware is otherwise what you’d expect from Samsung’s top tier</strong></h3>

<p>Specs aren’t the main story here, but Samsung didn’t compromise. The TriFold runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, comes with up to 16GB of RAM, and uses a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The outer display is 6.5 inches, also at 120Hz.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The biggest improvement is in the battery as it houses a 5,600mAh cell. Not to forget, it&#8217;s also powering three screens at the same time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The camera system is also in line with Samsung’s flagship phones. You get a 200MP main sensor, plus the usual ultrawide and telephoto lenses. Samsung is shipping it with Android 16 and One UI 8, including all the newer Galaxy AI features.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The era of dual-fold phones is finally here, and the competition is heating up. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> has just made the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/02/samsung-galaxy-z-trifold-launched-price-specifications/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Z TriFold</a> official, and it goes head-to-head with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a>’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-xts/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate XTs Ultimate Design</a>, the successor to the world’s first commercially available tri-fold phone.</p>

<p>Both devices push the envelope of what&#8217;s possible in foldable hardware, but they take drastically different approaches in form factor, display engineering, software, and overall user philosophy.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="976" height="636" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1.jpeg?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold" class="wp-image-717539" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1.jpeg 976w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-300x195.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-768x500.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-696x454.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-645x420.jpeg 645w" sizes="(max-width: 976px) 100vw, 976px" /></figure></div>

<h3><strong>Folding Philosophy: Inward vs Outward</strong></h3>

<p>The most fundamental difference between the two lies in how they fold. The Galaxy Z TriFold folds inward, protecting its expansive 10.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display within a dual-hinge design. When shut, it presents a familiar 6.5-inch cover screen that mirrors modern smartphones. This approach offers greater protection for the main display, especially in high-dust or abrasive environments.</p>

<p>Huawei, on the other hand, embraces an outward-folding Z-shaped form in the Mate XTs. The display wraps around the body, allowing the device to switch between a 6.4-inch smartphone mode, a 7.9-inch intermediate mode, and a fully expanded 10.2-inch tablet. It’s more versatile on paper, but with one clear trade-off: the primary screen is always partially exposed, which could raise durability concerns in the long run.</p>

<h3><strong>Display Technologies and Stylus Input</strong></h3>

<p>Both foldables stretch out to around 10 inches when fully opened, but Samsung wins on refresh rate. Its 10-inch QXGA+ panel offers a 120Hz adaptive refresh and 1600 nits of brightness, backed by a 6.5-inch 2600-nit cover screen. Huawei counters with a slightly larger 10.2-inch OLED display featuring a 3K resolution and 90Hz LTPO refresh. The company also integrates M-Pen 3 stylus support, which is absent on Samsung’s TriFold, despite its tablet-like ambitions.</p>

<p>This gives Huawei an edge for creative users and productivity tasks, especially when paired with its advanced hinge design that allows multi-angle usage. Still, Samsung’s panel is brighter and smoother, offering a more premium viewing experience overall.</p>

<h3><strong>Build Quality and Materials</strong></h3>

<p>Both devices are engineering marvels, but their build philosophies differ as well. Samsung uses Armor Aluminum with a titanium hinge and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front, offering a relatively slim 12.9mm folded profile and IP48 water resistance. Huawei goes heavier on materials science, claiming aerospace-grade steel with 2400MPa strength, an eight-layer hinge buffer structure, and a hinge system that allows 0.1° precision.</p>

<p>Despite the Mate XTs sounding like a tank, it manages to stay lighter at 298g compared to Samsung’s 309g. Huawei also boasts a thinner unfolded profile at just 3.6mm at its slimmest point, besting the TriFold’s 3.9mm.</p>

<h3><strong>Performance, Battery, and Charging</strong></h3>

<p>Samsung relies on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/qualcomm/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Qualcomm</a>’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3nm), paired with 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. Huawei opts for its own Kirin 9020 chip, which it claims improves performance by 36% over its predecessor. Both phones pack 5600mAh batteries, but Huawei wins decisively on charging: 66W wired, 50W wireless, and 7.5W reverse. Samsung lags with 45W wired and 15W wireless charging.</p>

<h3><strong>Camera Capabilities</strong></h3>

<p>Samsung arms its Z TriFold with a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. It also includes two 10MP selfie cameras, one on the cover and one inside.</p>

<p>Huawei opts for flexibility over raw pixel count: a 50MP main camera with variable aperture, a 40MP ultra-wide with macro capabilities, a 12MP 5.5x periscope telephoto lens, and a 1.5MP multispectral sensor for color fidelity. There&#8217;s also an 8MP front camera.</p>

<p>Both devices boast powerful cameras, but Samsung’s advanced AI processing and reliable image tuning give it an edge. Huawei’s setup is versatile, yet Samsung may deliver better real-world results.</p>

<h3><strong>Software and Desktop Experience</strong></h3>

<p>Samsung ships the TriFold with Android 16 and One UI 8, ensuring full <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/google/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google</a> services and app compatibility. Huawei, still under U.S. sanctions, ships the Mate XTs with HarmonyOS 5.1, which lacks native Google app support outside China.</p>

<p>On the productivity side, Samsung’s DeX mode works natively on the device’s 10-inch display, letting it double as a mini-desktop without an external monitor. Huawei’s desktop mode requires projection onto an external display, making Samsung’s solution more seamless for multitasking.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict: Samsung Has the Edge</strong></h3>

<p>The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold feels more complete and practical for global users. Its inward-folding design protects the display, while the bright 120Hz screen, Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and full Android 16 with DeX support make it a powerful and polished foldable.</p>

<p>Huawei’s Mate XTs is bold with stylus support and faster charging, but its outward-fold design and HarmonyOS limitations hold it back. For most, the Galaxy Z TriFold is the smarter choice.</p>

<p>After months of leaks and rumours, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung">Samsung </a>has finally taken the wraps off its most ambitious foldable yet. The company has introduced a completely new form factor that goes beyond the usual book-style design and brings a true multi-folding phone to the market. With a huge inner display and clever software tricks, it aims to blend phone portability with tablet-sized productivity.</p>

<h3><strong>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold specifications and features</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--1024x683.jpg?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold" class="wp-image-717441" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold--630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>When fully unfolded, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-trifold">Galaxy Z TriFold</a> opens up to a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with 2160 × 1584 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits peak brightness. The outer cover screen measures 6.5 inches with Full HD+ resolution and reaches up to 2600 nits brightness, protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. Both displays get 10 MP selfie cameras.</p>

<p>Under the hood, it comes from the <a href="https://www.gimzochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite">Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy </a>chipset paired with 16 GB RAM and storage options of 512 GB or 1 TB. The triple rear camera setup includes a 200 MP main sensor, 12 MP ultrawide and 10 MP 3x telephoto lens. A 5600 mAh battery, split across three sections, supports 45 W wired and 15 W wireless charging.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="910" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-1-910x1024.jpg?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold" class="wp-image-717442" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-1-910x1024.jpg 910w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-1-267x300.jpg 267w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-1-768x864.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-1-696x783.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-1-1068x1202.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-1-373x420.jpg 373w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-1-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 910px) 100vw, 910px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The phone runs Android 16 with One UI 8 and introduces standalone Samsung DeX for the first time, letting users switch to a full desktop interface directly from the quick panel. Three apps can run side-by-side on the large screen, and the new dual titanium hinges make folding smooth while keeping the main display protected. At just 3.9 mm thin when unfolded and weighing 309 grams, it also carries IP48 dust and water resistance, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G connectivity.</p>

<h3><strong>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold price and availability </strong></h3>

<p>In South Korea, the phone launches on 12 December at $2,500 (~₹2.09 lakh). It will reach China, Taiwan, Singapore and UAE before December ends, while the United States will get it sometime in the first quarter of 2026. Only Crafted Black colour is available for now.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung">Samsung’s</a> upcoming tri-folding smartphone has surfaced again, this time in detailed videos from South Korea. The footage, shared by SBS News and Omokgyo Electronics, gives a much closer look at the device’s overall construction, folding design, and physical features. Although Samsung has not officially confirmed its name, it is widely expected to launch as the Galaxy Z TriFold.</p>

<h3><strong>Galaxy Z TiFold: Dual-hinge design and display layout</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1-1024x512.png?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold" class="wp-image-713944" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1-1024x512.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1-300x150.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1-768x384.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1-696x348.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1-1068x534.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1-840x420.png 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1.png 1400w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold </figcaption></figure></div>

<p>According to the video, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-trifold">Galaxy Z TriFold</a> features two hinges positioned on both sides of the device, enabling it to fold twice to form a compact shape. When unfolded, it expands into a 10-inch display, while the external cover screen measures around 6.5 inches.</p>

<p>Unlike Huawei’s tri-fold model, which has an outward folding section, Samsung’s design folds both panels inward to protect the display when closed. The phone’s sides show one hinge with a shorter radius and another with a longer curve to accommodate the inner folding section.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="675" height="380" data-id="713942" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-3.png?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold " class="wp-image-713942" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-3.png 675w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-3-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold </figcaption></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="675" height="379" data-id="713941" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-4.webp?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold " class="wp-image-713941" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-4.webp 675w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-4-300x168.webp 300w" sizes="(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold </figcaption></figure>
</figure>

<p>Despite its dual-hinge structure, the TriFold appears impressively slim when fully opened. Early observations also suggest that Samsung has maintained a balanced weight distribution across its panels to ensure better grip and handling when folded or unfolded.</p>

<p>At the back, the Galaxy Z TriFold seems to share its triple-camera setup with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7">Galaxy Z Fold 7</a>, reportedly including a 200-megapixel primary camera, 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/28/samsungs-galaxy-z-trifold-leak-hints-at-100x-zoom-major-step-for-foldable-cameras/">100x digital zoom</a>. Both the inner and outer displays include punch-hole front cameras.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-2-1024x576.png?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold " class="wp-image-713943" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-2-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-2-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-2-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-2-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-2-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-2-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-2.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold </figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The device also features dual speakers, multiple microphones, and side-mounted power and volume buttons, with the fingerprint scanner integrated into the power key. The bezels appear thicker than on the Fold 7, likely due to its complex hinge mechanism.</p>

<p>Samsung has not disclosed specifications or pricing yet, but reports suggest an official launch later this year, with a possible limited release in select markets. If the Galaxy Z TriFold debuts successfully, it could mark a major milestone in Samsung’s foldable journey, setting the stage for a new category of multi-fold smartphones designed for productivity and entertainment.</p>

<p>Tomorrow (Sept. 4), Huawei will introduce the Mate XTs in China as its second tri-foldable phone. The device is expected to bring incremental upgrades over its predecessor, including features such as stylus support and satellite connectivity. Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung">Samsung</a> is also preparing to step into the tri-foldable segment. A fresh report from <em>ET News</em> indicates that the company may not wait until the end of the year for its debut. According to the Korean publication, Samsung could unveil its first tri-folding smartphone at a special Unpacked event in October 2025, with sales starting the following month.</p>

<h3><strong>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold: Limited production and availability</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="619" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1024x619.jpg?x23692" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold design" class="wp-image-704871" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1024x619.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-300x181.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-768x465.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-696x421.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-1068x646.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design-694x420.jpg 694w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-TriFold-design.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold design image by Android Authority </figcaption></figure>

<p>Samsung has reportedly finalized a conservative production figure of around 50,000 units for the Galaxy Z TriFold. The limited run will allow the brand to assess market response to the fresh design and mitigate risks if early issues appear.</p>

<p>Another reason is to avoid eating into the sales momentum of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-7">Galaxy Z Fold 7</a>, which launched in July and has been performing well. For now, the tri-fold is expected to be sold only in South Korea and China.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Z TriFold is said to feature a 9.96-inch tri-folding display supported by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/08/22/samsungs-galaxy-z-trifold-leak-teases-multitasking-focused-design/">two inward-folding hinges</a>, along with a 6.49-inch cover display. This setup is considered more durable than Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, where part of the screen folds outward.</p>

<p>Powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/18/samsungs-galaxy-z-trifold-is-powered-by-snapdragon-8-elite-but-thats-only-half-the-story/">Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy</a>, the device is tipped to support wireless charging, reverse wireless charging and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/08/30/samsungs-galaxy-z-trifold-leak-points-to-wireless-charging-nfc-support-and-more/">NFC connectivity</a>. While details on the processor, camera setup, RAM, storage and battery capacity remain unclear, reports highlight that Samsung has already started mass production. The tri-fold form factor will be a first-generation trial for the company, shaping its future foldable strategy depending on consumer adoption.</p>
