Xiaomi has released the Smart Door Lock M20 Pro, an advanced smart lock featuring AI-driven 3D structural light facial recognition for enhanced security and precise identification. The M20 Pro is an upgraded version of the standard M20 model launched earlier this year.

The 3D structural light facial recognition technology is renowned for its adaptability and accuracy, commonly used in secure systems like financial payments, access control systems, and high-end digital devices. The dual-core AI chip, combined with the 3D structural light module, enhances the device’s accuracy and resistance against attempts to unlock using photos, videos, or masks. The M20 Pro Smart Lock offers a user-friendly and practical unlocking experience. Xiaomi has been launching new Smart Home products at regular intervals in its home market China and today, the company has launched its first fully automatic smart door lock, called Xiaomi Automatic Smart Door Lock.

The product is now up for pre-order and will be shipped out by the end of this month, costing 1,699 yuan (~$250). This represents a 100 yuan discount over its retail price of 1,799 yuan, which is roughly $265.

The lock will automatically open when a fingerprint is recognized and after opening the lock, the door will automatically get locked within 0.8 seconds. This eliminates the need to rotate or push the handle to open or close the door.

Xiaomi says that the internal system of this new automatic door includes a set of power components which comprises the linear driving force, planetary gear reduction, micro-motor power, state perception, and a few other components.

Further, the company says that it has a C-level lock core that offers a fingerprint recognition rate of 98.94 percent. It can also be combined with multi-dimensional information such as fingerprints, skin, and conductivity.

It supports 50 sets of long-term passwords, periodic passwords, and a one-time temporary password. It also supports 20-bit virtual input as well as a few different unlocking methods such as NFC unlocking, mobile Bluetooth unlocking, HomeKit unlocking, among others.

The product is powered by eight AA batteries, offering 12 months of usage. There’s also a USB Type-C port that can be used for power supply in case of an emergency.

A few days ago, Xiaomi launched its new Smart Lock E for crowdfunding in China for a price of 899 yuan, which is roughly $126. While the company successfully completed the target, how it did is interesting.

As per the report, the Xiaomi Smart Lock E managed to exceed the crowdfunding target by 1000 percent in just 30 minutes of going live on the platform, generating about 900,000 yuan within that time frame.

It comes with support for six unlocking methods — Fingerprint, Password, Temporary Password, Bluetooth, Homekit, and Emergency Key. It’s integrated with a 3D semiconductor fingerprint module at the top of the door handle which the company claim has a recognition rate of 98.5 percent.

The product can also be easily controlled using the built-in Siri or Home application on iPhone, iPad, or even Apple Watch after it has been authorized by the Mi App. Once done, the device can be controlled through voice commands. For instance, when someone comes, just say “Hey Siri, open door lock.” and it’ll do the rest.

There’s a USB Type-C emergency power supply module at the bottom of the device which can temporarily power the product using the mobile power supply. If every digital unlocking system fails to work properly, it also comes with a mechanical lock which can be unlocked using a physical key.

The Xiaomi Smart Lock E is powered by eight batteries which promise to offer 18 months of battery life. The company says that when the power left is less than 20 percent, it starts showing red flashlight, reminding you to change batteries.
