<p>Qualcomm recently announced its new SoC, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/29/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-specs-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 4s Gen 2</a>. While this new processor is expected to be used in budget-friendly smartphones, still boasts some impressive features. However, it also raises some questions.</p>

<p>As you know, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Qualcomm</a> already has another model with a similar name, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/27/qualcomm-launches-snapdragon-4-gen-2-this-phone-could-be-first-to-feature-it/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 4 Gen 2</a>. So, what are the differences between these two processors? If we have to choose, which one should we prefer? Let&#8217;s dive into the details to find the answer.</p>

<h2>Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 vs. Snapdragon 4 Gen 2</h2>

<p>When buying a new smartphone, the plethora of options can be overwhelming. If you&#8217;re already struggling with choosing among hundreds of models from dozens of brands, seeing Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 in one device and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/27/qualcomm-launches-snapdragon-4-gen-2-this-phone-could-be-first-to-feature-it/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 4 Gen 2</a> in another might complicate things even further.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-1-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-643467" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Although both processors are designed to power entry-level devices, their differences can significantly impact user experience. In this article, we will compare the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 in terms of technical specifications, performance, and overall user experience.</p>

<h3>Technical Specifications Comparison</h3>

<p>Let&#8217;s start our comparison with the technical specifications. Both SoCs are developed with a 4nm manufacturing process, but there are differences. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 offers high performance with Kryo cores clocked up to 2.2 GHz and an Adreno 613 GPU, while the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 features Kryo cores clocked up to 2.0 GHz and an Adreno 610 GPU.</p>

<p>Both models provide 5G connectivity for high-speed internet access. Regarding camera support, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 supports up to 108 MP, whereas the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 supports up to 84 MP. However, this might not be a significant issue since smartphones in this price segment usually don&#8217;t have such high-resolution cameras.</p>

<p>Additionally, both models support Quick Charge 4+ technology for fast charging. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 supports Full HD+ displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate, while the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 supports Full HD+ displays with a 90 Hz refresh rate.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table><thead><tr><th>Feature</th><th>Snapdragon 4 Gen 2</th><th>Snapdragon 4s Gen 2</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Manufacturing Process</td><td>4nm</td><td>4nm</td></tr><tr><td>CPU</td><td>8x Kryo, 2.2 GHz</td><td>8x Kryo, 2.0 GHz</td></tr><tr><td>GPU</td><td>Adreno 613</td><td>Adreno 610</td></tr><tr><td>Connectivity</td><td>5G</td><td>5G</td></tr><tr><td>Memory Support</td><td>LPDDR4X, LPDDR5</td><td>LPDDR4X</td></tr><tr><td>Camera Support</td><td>108 MP</td><td>84 MP</td></tr><tr><td>Display Support</td><td>Full HD+ 120 Hz</td><td>Full HD+ 90 Hz</td></tr><tr><td>Charging Technology</td><td>Quick Charge 4+</td><td>Quick Charge 4+</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-3-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-643468" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-3-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-3-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-3-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-3-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/snapdragon-4s-gen-2-vs-snapdragon-4-gen-2-3.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h3>CPU and GPU Performance</h3>

<p>The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, with its higher clock speeds and more advanced GPU, offers faster and smoother performance in daily use. The advantages of the Adreno 613 GPU become evident, especially in graphics-intensive applications and games.</p>

<h3>Connectivity Features</h3>

<p>Both processors offer 5G support, but the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, with the Snapdragon X61 5G Modem-RF system, delivers higher speeds and better efficiency. This translates to faster internet connectivity and more reliable coverage.</p>

<h3>Energy Efficiency and Battery Life</h3>

<p><strong>Snapdragon 4 Gen 2</strong></p>

<p>Thanks to the 4nm manufacturing process, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is highly efficient in terms of energy consumption. Lower power consumption extends battery life, allowing the device to be used longer. Additionally, it offers faster charging capabilities with Quick Charge 4+ technology.</p>

<p><strong>Snapdragon 4s Gen 2</strong></p>

<p>Also produced with the 4nm process, the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is quite efficient in energy consumption. However, it still provides decent performance and battery life for an entry-level device.</p>

<p>At the end of the day, although the two processors are quite similar to each other, the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 offers very few advantages over its predecessor, aside from being newer. In many categories, the older model stands out. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s also worth noting that both processors offer similar experiences in daily use. Therefore, it would be best to choose based on the features and budget of the phone you plan to buy.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vivo </a>is apparently working on a new smartphone model. An unnamed device was spotted on a popular benchmarking platform, which revealed some of its key specifications. So here are all the details. </p>

<h2>Mysterious Vivo Phone surfaces on GeekBench</h2>

<p>The upcoming Vivo smartphone in question was spotted on GeekBench carrying the model number V2327. Looking at the database, the device will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. This processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and Android 14 OS out of the box. With this specs, the device managed to score 902 points in the single core test and 2168 points in the multi core test on GeekBench. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Vivo-V2327-GeekBench-684x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="Vivo V2327" class="wp-image-594470" width="559" height="837" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Vivo-V2327-GeekBench-684x1024.jpg 684w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Vivo-V2327-GeekBench-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Vivo-V2327-GeekBench-768x1150.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Vivo-V2327-GeekBench-696x1042.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Vivo-V2327-GeekBench-281x420.jpg 281w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Vivo-V2327-GeekBench.jpg 827w" sizes="(max-width: 559px) 100vw, 559px" /></figure></div>

<p>The mysterious Vivo smartphone is likely a mid range smartphone and the listing confirms support for 5G networking. While the official name of the device is still unclear, the upcoming Vivo smartphone may be a part of the Chinese brand&#8217;s Y series. For those unaware, the Y series is known to include a bunch of mid range models. As of right now, this is all the information we have regarding this handset. </p>

<p>The GeekBench listing hints that the launch of the Vivo V2327 phone isn&#8217;t too far off. So we can expect an official announcement to follow in the coming weeks. It is worth noting that this is still just speculation at the moment. So take this news with a pinch of salt and stick around for more as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.</p>

<p>After its global debut earlier this month, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Redmi</a> is preparing to launch the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-12/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Redmi 12</a> in India on August 1. It will be a 4G smartphone powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset. A recent leak also revealed that a 5G variant of the Redmi 12 will also be launching soon in the global market.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="506" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Redmi-12-5G-render.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi 12 5G" class="wp-image-552629" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Redmi-12-5G-render.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Redmi-12-5G-render-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Redmi-12-5G-render-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Redmi-12-5G-render-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Redmi-12-5G-render-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption>Redmi 12 5G</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Now, the Redmi 12 5G has emerged on Geekbench revealing some of its key specifications. As per the listing, the device has the model number 23076RN4BI and it features a 2.2GHz octa-core processor coupled with an Adreno 613 GPU. This is likely the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/27/qualcomm-launches-snapdragon-4-gen-2-this-phone-could-be-first-to-feature-it/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 4 Gen 2</a> 5G chipset. The listing further confirms that the smartphone has 8GB RAM and it runs on Android 13-based operating system.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="682" height="868" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Screenshot-2023-07-22-112916.png?x10805" alt="Redmi" class="wp-image-552940" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Screenshot-2023-07-22-112916.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Screenshot-2023-07-22-112916-236x300.png 236w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Screenshot-2023-07-22-112916-330x420.png 330w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></figure></div>

<p>In terms of performance, the Redmi 12 impressed with its Geekbench scores. It achieved a single-core score of 916 and a multi-core score of 2,106. The listing does not reveal any other information, however, it looks like this is a rebrand of the Redmi Note 12R which launched in April in China. In a previous report, we discussed the rumors of the Redmi Note 12R launching as Redmi 12 5G in the global market and as Poco M5 5G in India.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="688" height="568" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Screenshot-2023-07-01-171719-1.webp?x10805" alt="Redmi" class="wp-image-552907" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Screenshot-2023-07-01-171719-1.webp 688w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Screenshot-2023-07-01-171719-1-300x248.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Screenshot-2023-07-01-171719-1-509x420.webp 509w" sizes="(max-width: 688px) 100vw, 688px" /></figure></div>

<p>What&#8217;s interesting is that this model has also been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards, meaning that this is likely the Indian variant of the Redmi 12 5G. So, it looks like both the Xiaomi sub-brands, namely Poco and Redmi will be launching the rebranded Redmi Note 12R as Poco M6 Pro 5G and Redmi 12 5G in the Indian market. Let&#8217;s take a look at the specs of the Redmi Note 12R to get an idea of what to expect from the rebrands.</p>

<h2>Redmi Note 12R specs</h2>

<p>The Redmi Note 12R features a 6.79-inch LCD Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, offering 5G connectivity, and comes with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone has a dual-camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor at the rear, and a 5MP front camera. <p>On Aug. 1, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi">Redmi</a> will unveil the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/18/redmi-12-flipkart-india-availability/">4G-enabled Redmi 12</a> in India. Reports have revealed that the company is also working on a 5G version of the device. Tipster <em>SnoopyTech </em>has leaked what seem to be the leaked renders of the Redmi 12 5G.</p>

<h3><strong>Redmi 12 5G render</strong></h3>

<p>Last month, Redmi unveiled the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-12r">Redmi Note 12R</a> in China, featuring the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. Following the launch, tipster Kacper Skrzypek <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/01/redmi-note-12r-rebrand-redmi-12-5g-global-poco-m6-pro-5g-india/">claimed</a> that the Note 12R would be rebranded as the Redmi 12 5G for the global market, including India. Additionally, the tipster stated that India would receive a POCO phone <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/20/poco-m6-pro-5g-seemingly-certified-by-indias-bis-launch-imminent/">named the POCO M6 Pro 5G</a>, which would also be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 12R.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Something Xiaomi&#8230; something rebranded. <br>(Xiaomi Redmi Note 12R global I guess) <a href="https://t.co/mWv3GGfoCx">pic.twitter.com/mWv3GGfoCx</a></p>&mdash; SnoopyTech (@_snoopytech_) <a href="https://twitter.com/_snoopytech_/status/1682043011965022208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 20, 2023</a></blockquote><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
</div></figure>

<p>As can be seen in the tweet above, the tipster has claimed the phone shown in the image is a global version of the Redmi Note 12R, meaning it is the Redmi 12 5G for the global market. The Redmi 12 5G’s design is an exact match with the Sky Fantasy color variant of the Redmi Note 12R shown below.</p>

<p>The Redmi 12 5G, which has the 23076RN8DY model number, has already been approved by certification platforms such as NBTC (Thailand), IMDA (Singapore), and the FCC. The Indian variant with model number 23076RN4BI has also been certified by the country’s BIS authority. Hence, the Redmi 12 5G is expected to release in multiple markets in the coming weeks.</p>

<h3><strong>Redmi 12 5G specifications (expected)</strong></h3>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-12-5g">Redmi 12 5G</a> is expected to arrive with a 6.79-inch LCD FHD+ 90Hz display with a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, a 5-megapixel front camera, a 50-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (macro) dual-camera unit, and MIUI 14-based Android 13. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-4-gen-2">The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2</a>-powered phone is expected to arrive with up to 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging.</p>
