While, this wasn&#8217;t surprising since Qualcomm pretty much rules the market, the issues associated with the chipset hasn&#8217;t helped the company. But, it is said that the third generation chip .i.e. Snapdragon 810 v2.1 manages to solve a few problems on the SoC.</p>
<p>Anandtech managed to test both the second generation and the third generation chips, which showed what all changes were made in the new version to improve performance (unlike earlier versions which throttled speed) and reduce overheating.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-810-v2-Memory-Bandwidth-01.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-51137" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-810-v2-Memory-Bandwidth-01.jpg?x44794" alt="Snapdragon-810-v2-Memory-Bandwidth 01" width="654" height="409" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-810-v2-Memory-Bandwidth-01.jpg 654w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-810-v2-Memory-Bandwidth-01-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-810-v2-Memory-Bandwidth-01-640x400.jpg 640w" sizes="(max-width: 654px) 100vw, 654px" /></a></p>
<p>One of the important changes in the new version is the clock speed of the GPU. Qualcomm has now clocked Adreno 430 GPU at 630MHz which is 5 percent increase in speed as compared to the previous 600MHz. This will slightly increase the performance of the chip, which will help it compete with the powerful ARM Mali-T760 GPU on Samsung&#8217;s Exynos 7420.</p>
<p>The main memory bandwidth has improved by 33 percent and on an average around 38 percent across all memory segments. The latency in the L1 and L2 cache seems to be improved by 15 percent.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-51136" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533.png?x44794" alt="Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533" width="710" height="533" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533.png 710w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533-300x225.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533-559x420.png 559w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533-80x60.png 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533-100x75.png 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533-180x135.png 180w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533-238x178.png 238w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533-640x480.png 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533-681x511.png 681w" sizes="(max-width: 710px) 100vw, 710px" /></a></p>
<p>Another important change is in the pattern of throttling. The new v2.1 version reduces throttling significantly on the Cortex A57 cluster. However, if the load is high, the chip tends to shift all threads off the A57 to maintain TDP limits.</p>
<p>It looks like Qualcomm did make some important changes in the Snapdragon 810 v2.1. However, we will have to wait and watch whether these changes are enough to improve its performance and also reduce the persistent problem of overheating.</p>

Last week, the company slashed the prices of OnePlus One, most likely to make way for its new model. Now, the company has officially revealed the processor inside the new flagship, the Snapdragon 810.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-01.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-50884" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-01.jpg?x44794" alt="oneplus two 01" width="600" height="307" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-01.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-01-300x154.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>While this doesn&#8217;t come as a surprise, it does bring forward a lot of questions, especially whether OnePlus managed to fix the heating issue associated with the chipset. To answer all your doubts, the company has written a detailed blog post which reveals that its engineers worked closely with Qualcomm to develop a cooler version of the chipset without compromising performance.</p>
<p>The OnePlus Two will use Snapdragon 810 v2.1 which is the same version that&#8217;s inside the Xiaomi Mi Note flagship. The post also adds that the company did consider other chipset options, but every time, it came back to Snapdragon 810 because of its advanced features.</p>
<p>&#8220;Features that the 810 supports include streaming 4K Ultra HD video, amazingly crisp and fast photos with one quick snap, immersive 3D gaming brought to you by the first-in-class Adreno 430 GPU, high-quality video streaming that uses less bandwidth, and exceptional battery life&#8221; were some of the features of 810 detailed in the post.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-02.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-50883" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-02-576x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="oneplus two 02" width="576" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-02-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-02-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-02-236x420.jpg 236w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/oneplus-two-02.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /></a></p>
<p>The company has also heavily optimized its OxygenOS to run smoothly on the OnePlus Two with Snapdragon 810. The OS was pretty fluid on the OnePlus One, so we expect the experience to be the same even on the new device. The company said that they have created a proprietary technology, which will handle a variety of tasks for the chipset inside the &#8216;two&#8217;.</p>
<p>OnePlus has assured that the phone won&#8217;t get warmer with 810 inside, further explaining that the phone comes with graphite and thermal gel for effective heat dissipation.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/06/12/oneplus-two-will-most-likely-debut-in-july/">According to recent rumors</a>, OnePlus Two is expected to debut sometime in July this year, so we don&#8217;t have to wait too long to more official details about the flagship.</p>
