<p>Last year, Sony launched the Sony Xperia Pro-I, which is an Alpha camera-influenced smartphone aimed mainly at content creators and photography/videography enthusiasts. It features a massive 1-inch sensor that is capable of capturing scenes in great detail.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="800" height="800" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured.webp?x10805" alt="Sony Xperia PRO-I" class="wp-image-492912" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured.webp 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-300x300.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-150x150.webp 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-768x768.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-696x696.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-420x420.webp 420w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure></div>

<p>The smartphone has recently received a new OTA update that adds the ability to live-stream directly from the Videography Pro app for the device&#8217;s camera UI, potentially making it simpler and more efficient to use on social media platforms. In order to facilitate any future editing, the update also ensures&nbsp;that a file&#8217;s metadata accurately represents the fact that this new option is activated when shooting in portrait at 120 frames per second.</p>

<p>Those who have both the Pro-I and the GP-VPT2BT accessories benefit from this OTA as well. Owners of the Xperia Pro-I will be able to access the &#8220;custom&#8221; C1 button on the mini tripod/grip via the same Videography Pro software for more direct reprogramming.</p>

<h3>Sony Xperia PRO-I specs &amp; features</h3>

<p>The Sony Xperia Pro-I launched last year with a price tag of $1,800. For this price, users get a 6.5-inch 4K&nbsp;<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED display</a>&nbsp;with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 CPU inside, along with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Additionally, the gadget has a microSD card slot that enables you to increase the tablet&#8217;s storage capacity by up to 1TB.</p>

<p>The device has three camera lenses, each of which has a 3D iToF sensor and ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating. A recently created 24mm lens uses ZEISS Tessar Optics to produce high-resolution images with less peripheral image distortion and greater contrast and sharpness. The 1-inch sensor on the smartphone is borrowed from the RX100 VII camera and it supports RAW 12-bit shooting for incredible dynamic range, and dual aperture that goes from f/2.0 to f/4.0 for changing the depth of field.</p>

<p>A 12-megapixel 16mm f/2.2 ultrawide sensor and a second 12-megapixel 50mm f/2.4 2x optical telephoto sensor are combined with the 24-mm lens. There’s a monaural microphone next to the main camera for clear speech recording.</p>

<p>It has compatibility with Wi-Fi 6 and 5G in addition to the standard range of connectivity options. The smartphone is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 30W rapid charging technology and runs the Android operating system.</p>

Now, rumors are rife that the Japanese tech giant is working on another smartphone and it may be launched in November. The rumored smartphone is said to be the successor to the Xperia Pro-I, which was launched last year. The device’s moniker is not known yet, and we&#8217;d rather not speculate.</p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4811073716492495">tipster</a>, the alleged <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony/">Sony</a> Xperia smartphone will come with a triple rear camera setup, featuring improved sensors (Via <a href="https://www.gsmarena.com/new_xperia_pro_incoming_with_new_camera_sensors_and_variable_aperture-news-55705.php">GSMArena</a>). The device is said to have three 48-megapixel sensors. Interestingly, one of the three cameras will have a variable aperture between f/1.2 and f/4.0.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_421339" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-421339" style="width: 1200px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-421339 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1.jpeg?x10805" alt="Sony Xperia Pro-I Camera" width="1200" height="762" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1.jpeg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-300x191.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-768x488.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-1024x650.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-696x442.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-1068x678.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-661x420.jpeg 661w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-421339" class="wp-caption-text">Sony Xperia Pro-I Camera</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Further, the tipster reveals the primary camera will have the company’s 1-inch IMX903 sensor and the ultrawide unit will feature the 1/1.3-inch IMX803 sensor. The telephoto camera, on the other hand, will be an upgraded version of the 1/1.7” IMX557, which was also seen on the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/sony-xperia-1-II">Xperia 1 II</a> and Xperia 5 IV.</p>
<p>Details about the Xperia smartphone are still pretty short. As of now, we only know the alleged camera specifications of the smartphone. As mentioned, it will likely launch as the next-gen <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/sony-xperia-pro-i/">Sony Xperia Pro-I</a>, which came with a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display offering a 120Hz refresh rate.</p>
<p>The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC paired with 12GB of RAM. In terms of optics, the device features a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 12-megapixel 1-inch sensor accompanied by a 12-megapixel sensor, and a 12-megapixel sensor. While on the front, it has an 8-megapixel snapper for selfies and video calls.</p>

Some of these models are now beginning to receive the update, namely the Xperia 1 III, Xperia 5 III, and the Xperia PRO-I.</p>
<p>Aside from the brand new system interface and all of that Material You goodness, the Xperia Android 12 update also brings a host of improvements to system functions. Some of the newly added features include long screenshots, conversation widgets, and call recording.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-452461" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/sony-xperia-android-12-update-1024x796.jpg?x10805" alt="sony xperia android 12 update" width="696" height="541" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/sony-xperia-android-12-update-1024x796.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/sony-xperia-android-12-update-300x233.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/sony-xperia-android-12-update-768x597.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/sony-xperia-android-12-update-696x541.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/sony-xperia-android-12-update-1068x831.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/sony-xperia-android-12-update-540x420.jpg 540w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/sony-xperia-android-12-update.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>A new emergency call function has also been added, allowing a very speedy emergency call dial simply by tapping the power button 5 times. There&#8217;s also fresh support for emergency contacts.</p>
<p>The one-handed mode has also received a complete revamp. Just slide down on the bottom navigation bar and the mobile phone interface will sink to the bottom, making it easier to reach the content at the top of the screen.</p>
<p>The two apps, Photography Master and Movie Master, have also been further optimized. First of all, they have added a prompt page, through which one can easily access tips and tricks. The second is for photographers, adding custom functions for AEL buttons, DISP buttons, and function menu buttons, making the app more convenient to use.</p>

<p>The 24mm lens is clubbed with two other sensors — a 12-megapixel 16mm f/2.2 ultrawide sensor and another 12-megapixel 50mm f/2.4 2x optical telephoto lens. It is touted to be the world’s first smartphone to come with a 1.0-type sensor with phase detection, packing an Exmor RS sensor with a 2.4µm pixel pitch for impressive low-light performance.</p>
<p>Sony claims the Xperia Pro-I to be the world’s first <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartphone">smartphone</a> allowing users to shoot high-quality video in 4K 120fps and slow-motion video at up to 5x. There’s a monaural microphone next to the main camera for clear speech recording.</p>

The highlight is the camera technology, which is developed with the same advanced imaging technology from Sony&#8217;s mirrorless Alpha brand cameras, found in the RX100 VII camera.</p>
<p>The newly announced Sony Xperia Pro-I is touted to be the world&#8217;s first smartphone to come with a 1.0-type sensor with phase detection. The device comes packed with a 1.0-type Exmor RS sensor with a 2.4µm pixel pitch for impressive low-light performance.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-421339 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1.jpeg?x10805" alt="Sony Xperia Pro-I Camera" width="1200" height="762" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1.jpeg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-300x191.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-768x488.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-1024x650.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-696x442.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-1068x678.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-1-661x420.jpeg 661w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The 1-inch sensor is borrowed from its RX100 VII camera. It supports RAW 12-bit shooting for incredible dynamic range, and dual aperture that goes from f/2.0 to f/4.0 for changing the depth of field. The phone also features a BIONZ X for mobile and a front-end LSI.</p>
<p>The smartphone includes three camera lenses, all of which are enhanced with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/zeiss">ZEISS</a> T* anti-reflective coating and a 3D iToF sensor. There&#8217;s a newly developed 24mm lens that adopts ZEISS Tessar Optics for delivering high-resolution images with less peripheral image distortion and more intense contrast and sharpness.</p>
<p>The 24mm lens is clubbed with two other sensors &#8212; a 12-megapixel 16mm f/2.2 ultrawide sensor and another 12-megapixel 50mm f/2.4 2x optical telephoto lens. Further, the 3D iToF sensor calculates the distance between the camera and the subject to ensure fast and accurate autofocus.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-421341 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3.jpeg?x10805" alt="" width="1200" height="740" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3.jpeg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3-300x185.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3-768x474.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3-1024x631.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3-356x220.jpeg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3-696x429.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3-1068x659.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-3-681x420.jpeg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The device also features 315 phase-detection AF points that cover almost 90 percent of the frame. There&#8217;s also an AF technology that includes features Real-time Eye-AF in humans and animals, Real-time tracking, 20fps AF/AE burst shooting, and anti-distortion shutter for a cleaner capture of fast-moving objects.</p>
<p>Sony claims the Xperia Pro-I to be the world&#8217;s first <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartphone">smartphone</a> allowing users to shoot high-quality video in 4K 120fps and slow-motion video at up to 5x. There&#8217;s a monaural microphone next to the main camera for clear speech recording.</p>
<p>There are two physical camera buttons on the device &#8212; one is a two-stage shutter key and the other is a circular button that is mapped to launch the Videography Pro app. This app offers advanced controls like white balance, exposure and focus.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-421342 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-4.jpeg?x10805" alt="Sony Xperia Pro-I Camera Buttons" width="1200" height="665" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-4.jpeg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-4-300x166.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-4-768x426.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-4-1024x567.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-4-696x385.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-4-1068x592.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Camera-4-758x420.jpeg 758w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>Given that the smartphone is aimed at content creators or vloggers, there&#8217;s a special Vlog Monitor which is basically a 3.5-inch 720p monitor accessory that can be attached to the phone&#8217;s rear, allowing to film users with the new 1.0-inch type camera sensor.</p>
<p>As for the rest of the specifications, the Xperia Pro-I features a 6.5-inch 4K <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled">OLED display</a> with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device comes powered by the Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888">Snapdragon 888 chipset</a>, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM.</p>
<p>With such advanced camera functions, you will need a good amount of storage and Sony isn&#8217;t compromising as it is offering 512GB of internal storage. There&#8217;s also a microSD card slot allowing you to further expand the storage capacity up to 1TB on the device.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-421338 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured.jpeg?x10805" alt="Sony Xperia PRO-I Frosted Black" width="800" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured.jpeg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-150x150.jpeg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-300x300.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-768x768.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-696x696.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Sony-Xperia-Pro-I-Featured-420x420.jpeg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
