As scheduled, Sony unveiled the Xperia 5 IV today. The latest compact flagship smartphone from the Japanese electronics giant brings meaningful upgrades. The new model offers a larger battery, wireless charging support, and improved cameras. Let’s check out what all it has to offer.

The Sony Xperia 5 IV is built around a 6.1-inch OLED display with 2520 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) resolution and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The phone boots Android 12. It features an IP68-rated body for dust and water resistance. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protect the front and the back of the device.

The handset houses dual stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, DSEE Ultimate, and 360 Reality Audio. There’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack and a MicroSD card slot.

Talking about cameras, there’s a triple camera system on the rear. All three sensors offer 12MP resolution. The primary shooter uses a 24mm equivalent 1/1.7″ lens, the ultra-wide has a 16mm equivalent 1/2.5″ lens, and the 2.5x telephoto snapper sports a 60mm equivalent 1/3.5″ lens.

All three cameras support 120fps readout, Real-time Eye AF, and Real-time tracking. The wide and telephoto modules also offer optical image stabilization (OIS). Finally, on the front, there is a 12MP sensor with a 24mm equivalent f/2.0 lens.

Last but not least, the Sony Xperia 5 IV is backed by a  5,000mAh battery. It carries support for 30W USB PD fast charging and Qi wireless charging. The device ships without a charger and a USB cable.

 

Sony Xperia 5 IV Price and Availability

The Sonu Xperia arrives in three color options, namely Green, Black, and Ecru White. However, it only comes in a single 8GB + 128GB memory configuration.

The smartphone is priced at €1,049 and $999 in Europe and the US, respectively. It will be first available in Europe starting mid-September, followed by the US in late October.
