Tecno Pova 5 series specs

The Pova 5 has a 6.78-inch screen that’s really clear and smooth with a 120Hz refresh rate. It uses 4G LTE and has a powerful Helio G99 chip. The battery is big, 6,000mAh, and charges quickly at 45W. The Pova 5 Pro is similar but runs on 5G. It uses the Dimensity 6080 chip and charges even faster at 68W.

Both phones have 8GB of regular RAM and 8GB of “virtual” RAM to make things really fast. They also come with lots of storage options, either 128GB or 256GB, and you can add more with a microSD card.

For photos, the Pova 5 has two cameras on the back: a 50-megapixel main one and an AI camera, both with strong flash. The Pova 5 Pro has three back cameras: the same 50-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel one, and an AI camera. Both take great pictures. For selfies, the Pova 5 has an 8-megapixel camera, and the Pro version has a better 13-megapixel front camera.

These phones have a fingerprint scanner on the side, face unlock, two SIM card slots, fast Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, GPS, a USB-C port, a headphone jack, and a motor for vibrations. The Pro version has a special interface, but it’s not available on the regular Pova 5.

Last week, Tecno unveiled the Pova 5 and Pova 5 Pro in India. The Pova 5 Pro is Tecno’s first phone with a rear-facing Arc interface. It consists of three LED light strips that converge on each other to form a triangle. The Arc interface can glow for notifications, charging, gaming, and more. Here is a look at the price and specifications of both smartphones.

The Pova 5, which comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, is priced at Rs 11,999 (~$145). On the other hand, the Pova 5 Pro comes in two options, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. These are priced at Rs 14,999 (~$180) and Rs 15,999 (~$193), respectively.

Both phones will be available for purchase through Amazon starting Aug. 22. The Pova 5 comes in three shades: Mecha Black, Amber Gold, and Hurricane Blue. On the other hand, the Pova 5 Pro can be bought in colors like Dark Illusion and Fantasy Silver.

Earlier today, Tecno held a press event in India where it introduced the Pova 5 series smartphones. The brand has unveiled two smartphones in the series, namely, Tecno Pova 5 and Pova 5 Pro. The Pova 5 is a 4G smartphone, whereas the Pova 5 Pro comes with 5G connectivity. The smartphones also feature large FHD+ resolution displays with high refresh rate and large batteries with fast charging. Let’s look at the details.

It appears that another Nothing Phone (2) inspired smartphone is dropping in India soon. The launch date of the Tecno Pova 5 series has just been confirmed, so here are all the details that you need to know about the upcoming smartphones.

Tecno Pova 5 Series Launch Date and Event

The company revealed that the smartphones will be unveiled in India on August 11. Tecno plans on hosting a launch event (TECNOlogy) at DLF Avenue, New Delhi, which is open to everyone till August 13. In this event, the brand will offer immersive experiences with some of its popular products. For those unaware, the Tecno Pova 5 Pro was released globally on August 2. But it will be arriving alongside the vanilla Pova 5 in India, with both models featuring the new Turbo Mecha design.

Tecno Pova 5 series features a Nothing Phone (2)-like design

Interestingly, the Turbo Mecha design sounds awfully similar to the Cyber Mecha design found on the Infinix GT 10 Pro, which is another Nothing Phone (2) inspired device. Smartphone launches will continue to happen in August, just like in July. A number of brands have confirmed to unveil interesting phones in the next few days.

Some of the companies have already revealed the dates for their new releases. While others have merely assured that they will be taking wraps off their latest devices.

We will be witnessing the launch of handsets across various categories. Even three foldables are expected from three different brands, namely Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Oppo.

The former two are also set to introduce affordable premium smartphones alongside Realme and Vivo. Further, Infinix and Tecno have planned to unveil handsets inspired by the Nothing Phone series.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the devices that are anticipated to go official in the coming days.

Upcoming Smartphones in August 2023

Redmi 12 5G

The Redmi 12 5G is scheduled to launch in India on August 1. It will be making its global debut in the country alongside the Redmi 12, which is already official in multiple markets.

The Redmi 12 5G for international markets is a rebranded Redmi Note 12R sold in China. Thus, everything about it is already known.

Motorola Moto G14

Motorola has confirmed to debut the Moto G14 in India on August 1. As the name suggests, it is a budget 4G smartphone from the brand.

The device will arrive with a 6.5-inch FHD+ punch-hole display (LCD), a Unisoc T616 chipset, Dolby Atmos-supported dual stereo speakers, a 50MP main camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 20W fast charging support.

Infinix GT 10 Pro

The Infinix GT 10 Pro will be announced on August 3 in India. The handset will sport a design inspired by the Nothing Phone series.

The product will be built around a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display on the front and a transparent panel on the back with LED lights. It will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8050 SoC paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

It will be equipped with a 108MP primary camera and a 32MP selfie camera. Finally, it will draw energy from a 5,000mAh battery and carry support for 45W fast wired charging.

Tecno Pova 5 Pro

The Tecno Pova 5 Pro is somewhat similar to the Inifinix GT 10 Pro in terms of design with its LED lights. However, it does not have a launch date yet though it is expected to debut in India first.

Also, we don’t have any info on its features as of writing this article. All we know is that it will come with five LED light effects, namely Soft, Racing, Dreamy, Breath, and Party.

The device will be accompanied by vanilla Tecno Pova 5, which is already official in some global markets.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is confirmed to launch in China in August. The company has officially revealed that it will flaunt a Leica-tuned quad-camera system.

Thanks to leaks, we know a few things about Xiamo’s next-gen foldable phone. The handset will sport an 8.02-inch QHD+ 120Hz main foldable display with a camera underneath it and a 6.56-inch FHD+ 120Hz cover screen.

It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It will be backed by a 4,800mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Last but not least, the quad-camera setup is tipped to include a Sony IMX800 primary camera, an ultra-wide unit, a 3.2x telephoto snapper, and a 5x periscope shooter.

Redmi K60 Ultra

The Redmi K60 Ultra is expected to go official alongside the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. Thus, we don’t have an exact launch date as of writing this article.

As per leaks, this product will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus chipset paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It will be fitted with a 6.7-inch 1.5K 144Hz OLED display.

Last but not least, the smartphone is expected to be backed by either a 5,000mAh or a 5,500mAh battery with support for 120W wired charging.

Oppo Find N3 and OnePlus Open

The Oppo Find N3 and the OnePlus Open are anticipated to launch in August. Both devices are expected to be one and the same meant for different markets.

These foldables are said to arrive with an 8-inch 2K 120Hz main foldable display and a 6.5-inch 120Hz external screen. They will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

They will house a triple camera system on the rear comprising a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide unit, and a 32MP periscope shooter. Finally, they will be backed by a 4,805mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Oppo A2

The Oppo A2 is expected to launch in China in August. It will be the successor of the Oppo A1 from earlier this year with a different design and upgraded specs.

The handset is tipped to sport a 6.7-inch curved display with an FHD+ resolution and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It will come with a new primary camera and a larger battery. Unfortunately, the exact camera specs and battery capacity are not known.

In terms of look, it will resemble the Huawei Mate 50 series with its giant rear circular camera island.

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro has been confirmed to release in China in August. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with an industry-first aerospace-grade 3D cooling system with a total area of 9,140 sq. mm.

The phone will be fitted with a 6.7-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display. It will feature a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP telephoto camera.

It will also come with an alert slider and an IR blaster. Lastly, it will draw energy from a 5,500mAh battery and support 150W wired charging.

Realme GT 5

The Realme GT 5 is anticipated to release in August. It will come equipped with a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide unit shooter, and a 2MP macro snapper.

Under the hood, the device will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. On the front, it will flaunt a 6.74-inch 1.5K 144Hz OLED display.

Tecno has been teasing the Pova 5 series of smartphones in India since the past few days. As per reports, the company may launch two handsets, namely the Pova 5 and the Pova 5 Pro. In a new teaser, the company has revealed the rear-facing notification LED unit of the Pova 5 series.

The notification LED unit available on the back panel of the Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2) is dubbed the Glyph interface. In the same way, the Pova 5 series will come equipped with a unique LED pattern on the back, which is called the Arc interface.

As per Tecno, the Arc interface can support multiple colors that glow when there is an incoming call. It appears that the LED unit can glow for functionalities like charging status or some alerts, but there is no official confirmation on these features.

Tecno recently unveiled the Tecno Pova 5 on the global market, but the Pro model has not launched yet. The Pova 5 does not seem to feature an Arc interface. Hence, it appears that the said feature could be available only on the Pro model.

Tecno is set to introduce its Pova 5 series smartphones in India shortly, as evident from a teaser spotted on Amazon India. The series is expected to include two models: Tecno Pova 5 and Pova 5 Pro.

The teaser showcases an attractive design with illuminated LEDs on the back, likely serving as notification indicators. Tipster Ishans Aggarwal also highlighted this feature in a teaser hands-on video. Interestingly, the design appears to bear a striking resemblance to the Tecno Pova Neo 3, which the brand has been teasing in recent days. As the Pova 5 has already been unveiled globally, we can anticipate a similar offering to arrive soon in India.

The Tecno Pova 5 boasts a large 6.78-inch IPS LCD display with a high resolution of 1080×2460 pixels. The screen also features an impressive 120Hz refresh rate and a super-responsive 240Hz touch sampling rate. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a mid-range Helio G99 SoC, combined with a generous 8GB of RAM, ensuring smooth performance for various tasks.

The standout feature of this device is its massive 6,000mAh battery, which supports 45W fast charging. With the provided in-box charger, you can charge the battery to 50% in just 21 minutes and fully charge it in 60 minutes. Moreover, the Pova 5 supports 10W reverse charging, enabling you to charge other devices with it.

In terms of photography, the Tecno Pova 5 excels with its 50MP main camera on the back, accompanied by a depth sensor for better portrait shots. On the front, you get an 8MP selfie shooter for selfies and video calls.
