Vivo X80 Pro Specifications

The Vivo X80 Pro is a successor to last year’s X70 Pro and offers impressive upgrades in terms of power, battery capacity, and charging speed. The Vivo smartphone sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution (1,440×3,200 pixels) and 120Hz refresh rate. The handset draws power from a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and unlike China there will be Dimensity 9000 models in Europe.

Talking about the camera, the smartphone gets a quad rear camera setup with a 50MP main camera (Isocell GNV), 48MP ultrawide camera, a 2x 12MP portrait shooter, and an 8MP 5x periscope lens. On the front, you get a 32MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

The X80 Pro also brings a some impressive camera modes such as a Motion Mode-like camera panning option, a night sports mode, and a cinematic video bokeh option.

The smartphone is fueled by a 4,700mAh battery with 80W Flash Charge wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. It runs Android 12 with OriginOS on top and also has IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

We just finished reviewing the Vivo X Note a few days ago. But the X80 series was also released recently. While I don’t think it’s a good idea for Vivo to flood the market with many flagship phones, since they have released new phones, we have no choice but to review them for you guys. Today, we bring you the unboxing and quick review video of vivo’s flagship camera phone for the first half of the year: the Vivo X80 Pro.

The box for the X80 Pro is a bit smaller and thinner than both the previous X70 Pro plus and X Note. Keeping the phone aside, we didn’t find any wired headphones. It seems Vivo has also learned how to be more “environmentally friendly”. But the brand still includes a very good-looking phone case. The instructions and UV protection stickers are also available. This time the charger is 80w and supports PD 65w. This dual Type-C charging cable can be your travel charger.

More than other brands, we have always thought that vivo designs beautiful phones, but the X80 Pro is an exception. If the rectangular plus round design is acceptable to me, the periscope telephoto lens outside the main camera housing is not acceptable to me. While I understand that the Micro Gimbal is too big, so the telephoto cannot be placed next to the portrait camera. But I just don’t like the awkward design. And it really drives me crazy that the telephoto camera and the top two lenses are not in line. This year’s X80 Pro has made too many sacrifices to unify the design style.

The rest of the design remains the same as last year’s X70 series, such as the glossy top trim strip and the smooth frosted glass on the back. It also supports 2 SIM cards and NFC. Fingerprint recognition becomes the same large ultrasonic fingerprint as the X Note, but the silent switch on the X Note is not present on the X80 Pro. If you are an X70 Pro Plus user, you will feel no big change when you switch to X80 Pro. The biggest change you can feel is that the lens design has become uglier.

As soon as I opened the X80 Pro’s screen, I thought it looked familiar. After comparing the screen specs of the X70 Pro Plus, I was sure that this screen is the same screen as the X70 Pro Plus. We’re familiar with this screen, and I’m sure you don’t want to hear us repeat its performance. Except for the side view color shift, it’s all top of the line at the moment.

vivo X80 Pro Review: Performance & Gaming

I have to say, Vivo knows its users very well. They know that we prefer the Dimensity 9000 to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. That’s why it is offering two versions with identical specs but different processors. You can buy whichever processor you like. The X80 Pro we have is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 version. Because the Dimensity 9000 version is not yet available for sale. We are already familiar with the Benchmark performance of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so you can take a look at the table to get an idea.

As for the gaming performance, we simply ran PUBG and Genshin. Maybe the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 performance is too bad, or maybe Vivo is just trying to protect your hands from getting burned, as usual, the performance is just mediocre. If you want a phone with good gaming performance, the X80 Pro is definitely not the best choice.

vivo X80 Pro Review: Cameras

The four lenses on the X80 Pro are a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12MP portrait camera, and an 8MP periscope telephoto camera. The main camera adds a glass lens. The Micro Gimbal of the ultra-wide-angle camera has also been replaced with the portrait camera.

This time the V1 chip of X80 Pro was updated to V1+ chip. Because the other lenses have not changed much, so we mainly talk about this Micro Gimbal portrait lens. Honestly, the closest focusing distance of this lens is a bit too far, and it often fails to focus for daily shooting. Sometimes there is an inexplicable shaking problem, and the probability of this bug is quite high. The Micro Gimbal is actually better for video recording, but you can’t record 4k and 60fps video with this lens. So I prefer the X70 Pro Plus design that puts the Micro Gimbal on the ultra-wide-angle camera. The other lenses are not significantly different compared to the X70 Pro Plus or X Note. For some reason, we can’t find the official Note app in our X80 Pro, nor can I search for it in the Vivo app store, so I have to use a third-party app if I want to take notes. How to use the IR remote control of Origin OS is also hard to find.

vivo X80 Pro review: Battery & Charging

The X80 Pro’s battery capacity has been increased by 200mAh over the previous generation, and the wired charging power has been increased to 80w. However, the compatibility of charging protocols is still not good. There are more versions for sale this time, so I’ve listed a table for your reference. A few days back, Vivo launched the X80 series in the Chinese market with an impressive specs sheet. The phones feature an IMX800-series camera sensor and have up to 2k AMOLED displays. Now, the Vivo X80 series is headed for a global and Indian release on May 8 and May 18, respectively. Ahead of the release, the global variants have now passed FCC and NBTC certification websites.

The Vivo X80 carries the model number V2144, while the X80 Pro has the model number V2145. Both phones are confirmed to come with dual-SIM support with 5G connectivity. Unfortunately, that’s just what we learn from both certifications. However, these listings excite us for the global release.

As for the specs, the Vivo X80 and X80 Pro come with a similar design. Both feature 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED displays with a high 120Hz refresh rate. The vanilla X80 has an FHD+ resolution, whereas, the X80 Pro sports a QHD+ resolution. Both have 1500 nits of peak brightness and 100% P3 color gamut.

The X80 sports a triple camera system with a 50MP Sony IMX866 main lens, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP portrait sensor. On the other hand, the X80 Pro has a quad-camera system with a 50MP Samsung GNV 1G main lens, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, a 12MP portrait camera, and an 8MP periscope lens. Both have a 32MP selfie snapper.

Under the hood, the X80 has the Dimensity 9000 SoC, while the X80 Pro packs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Both have 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Pro model also gets a 512GB storage option. The vanilla X80 houses a 4,500mAh battery, whereas, the X80 Pro has a 4,700mAh battery. Both support 80W fast charging support. The phones boot on OriginOS Ocean based on Android 12 OS.

Earlier this week, the Vivo X80 series was launched in China. The series consists of the vanilla X80, X80 Pro Dimensity version, and the X80 Pro Snapdragon version.

Now, Vivo India has officially teased the launch date of the X80 series in India. According to the company’s website, the new flagships will make their Indian debut on May 18 at 12 PM IST.

The teaser also revealed some specs of the Vivo X80 Pro Indian variant, and by the looks of it, the sub-continent might only be getting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered devices.

Vivo X80 Pro specs

The X80 Pro features a 6.78-inch E5 LTPO AMOLED display with 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1000Hz touch sampling rate, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The display panel has a peak brightness of 1500 nits and offers HDR+ support along with 10bit color.

Under the hood, the device houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. It runs Android 12-based OriginOS Ocean out of the box and has a 4,700mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging support. It also gets access to 50W wireless charging.

For optics, the X80 Pro has a quad-camera setup with a 50-megapixel GNV 1G primary sensor with OIS. It also features a 48-megapixel IMX598 ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel IMX663 telephoto lens, and an 8-megapixel periscope lens with 5x optical zoom and 60x digital zoom. On the front, the smartphone brings a 32-megapixel snapper for selfies and video calls.

All the cameras on the Vivo X80 Pro come with Zeiss branded lenses. The smartphone also features Vivo’s proprietary V1+ Image Signal Processor chip which reduces noise in low light images, helps in taking brighter shots during night time and improves color accuracy.

Other features include NFC, HiFi audio support, IP68 water, and dust resistance, X-axis linear motor, and dual stereo speakers.

Vivo just held a major launch event today (25th April 2022) to announce the Vivo X80 series. These are the latest flagship smartphones from the company. So now, let’s have a look at the higher end models of the premium grade lineup, which comes in two variants.

Design & Display

In terms of design, both variants, namely Vivo X80 Pro Snapdragon and X80 Pro Dimensity version, are basically the same. They both feature an identically sized screen and camera setup on the rear. On the front, both models have negligible bezels on the sides, but with a slightly noticeable chin and notch. The X80 Pro series also features a center aligned punch hole cutout on the front, while the rear houses a large camera island, which houses a circular module for the image sensors.

The X80 Pro series sports a 6.78 inch E5 LTPO AMOLED display that has a 2K resolution along with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000Hz touch sampling rate, and an in display fingerprint scanner as well. The display has a peak brightness of 1500 nits, comes with HDR support, and also offers 10bit colors. Interestingly, the fingerprint reader has a large area for scanning fingers, and users can also use two fingers to unlock their devices.

Specifications

Under the hood, the Vivo X80 Pro features two different chips depending on the version. The Snapdragon edition packs Qualcomm’s latest and greatest 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. On the other hand, the Dimensity version features the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, which also comes with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.

Both models are also powered by a similarly sized 4,700mAh battery pack that supports 80W wired fast charging and even 50W wireless fast charging support. The battery can charge to 50 percent in just 11 minutes and 100 percent in an impressive 34 minutes. For software, the X80 Pro series will run on Android 12 OS based OriginOS Ocean out of the box. Other features include NFC, HiFi audio support, IP68 water, and dust resistance, X-axis linear motor, and dual stereo speakers.

Camera

The X80 Pro series features a quad camera setup with a 50 megapixel GNV 1G primary sensor that supports OIS as well. This sensor is paired with a 48 megapixel ultra wide angle lens (IMX598), a 12 megapixel portrait telephoto shooter (IMX663), and an 8 megapixel periscope lens that offers 5x optical zoom and 60x digital zoom. On the front, the device has a 32 megapixel selfie shooter.

Notably, both models come with the company’s proprietary V1+ ISP chip (Image Signal Processor) to enhance the photography experience along with Zeiss lenses as well. During the launch event, the Chinese brand showcased a number of camera features, but one of the most interesting ones was the new Cinematic mode.

The Vivo X80 Pro series is available in multiple color options (Orange, Blue, Black) as well as different configurations as well. So here’s the pricing:

Now as per the tipster, the Vivo X80 Pro will feature top notch specs and features.

On the front, the device will apparently sport a 6.78 inch AMOLED display that has a 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 300Hz touch sampling rate. This panel will even include an in display fingerprint reader as well. Under the hood, the premium grade handset will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which will be paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.

Meanwhile, the rear features a quad camera setup that consists of a 50 megapixel primary sensor, 48 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, 12 megapixel portrait telephoto shooter, and an 8 megapixel periscope lens that offers 5x optical and 60x digital zoom as well. Vivo is expected to launch its flagship Vivo X80 series soon, and if we go by the leaks, the launch could take place as early as this month. While Vivo on the Internet appears to shush about the release date, a poster of the X80 series was spotted at offline stores in China.

The Vivo X80 teaser poster is already live in China. The smartphone’s rear design can be seen on the poster. The phone’s much-rumoured ZEISS branded quad-camera system is also visible. This time around, the camera island on the phone is circular as opposed to the predecessor’s vertically positioned rectangular camera island.

In addition to the cameras, the poster confirms the presence of Vivo V1+ ISP on the phone. This is probably the improved version of the V1 chip that we saw in last year’s Vivo X70. Moreover, the phone’s 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC has also been confirmed by the poster. As per leaks, this chip will be powered by the X80 Pro+.

The series will also include X80 and X80 Pro, which will have the Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 9000 SoCs, respectively. The X80 and X80 Pro are expected to come with a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED display, while the X80 Pro+ is said to feature a 6.78-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel. The X80 and X80 Pro+ will have QHD+ resolution, whereas, the vanilla X80 will get an FHD+ screen. All models will have a high 120Hz refresh rate.

The camera setup on the vanilla X80 will have a 50MP + 12MP + 12MP triple camera system, while the X80 Pro and X80 Pro+ are expected to come with a 50MP + 48MP + 50MP + 50MP quad-camera array.

Vivo will be soon launching its flagship smartphone series dubbed the Vivo X80. This time around the series is expected to comprise three phones namely the Vivo X80, X80 Pro, and X80 Pro Plus. While there have been a lot of leaks regarding the former two devices, the Plus model’s details have been limited. Now, the smartphone has been spotted on the Geekbench portal revealing its internals.

According to the Geekbench listing, the Vivo X80 Pro Plus carries the model number V2145. The smartphone has 1209 points in the single-core department and 3330 points in the multi-core department. The phone’s chipset is codenamed “taro” which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.

This goes in line with what the leaks had revealed in the past. Moreover, the smartphone’s chipset has a base frequency of 1.78GHz and the highest frequency of 3.00GHz. It has 12GB of RAM and runs on the Android 12 operating system.

Other than this, the smartphone was previously rumored to come with a 6.78-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and Quad-HD+ resolution.

It is expected to come with a quad-camera system at the rear with a 50MP main lens, a 48MP IMX598 sensor, a  50MP Samsung JN1 lens, and lastly a 50MP JN2 unit. On the front, the phone is expected to have a 50MP selfie shooter.

The  Vivo X80 Pro Plus will be the third phone in the series. There will also be the X80, which is said to be powered by a Dimensity 8000 series chipset, and the X80 Pro which will be powered by the Dimensity 9000 SoC.

The smartphones have received multiple leaks earlier this year, and now, tipster @Shadow_Leak has Tweeted out the entire spec sheet of the Vivo X80 Pro and the X80 Pro Plus variants, so let’s take a look at these in detail.

Vivo X80 Pro+ Specs (rumored)

Starting with the superior variant, the tipster states that the Vivo X80 Pro Plus will come with a curved 6.78-inch QHD+ (1440p) E5 10bit Amoled display based on LTPO 2.0 technology and will have a 120Hz refresh rate.

The device will run a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and will come with 6GB, 8GB, and 12GG LPDDR5 RAM options. For storage, customers will get to choose from 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage options.

The device will offer a quad-camera setup with a 50-megapixel Samsung GN1 primary sensor with f/1.3 aperture and OIS, a 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 ultrawide camera, a 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 2x optical zoom camera, and another 12-megapixel IMX663 telephoto camera with 10x Hybrid zoom and 60x “code zoom.” On the front, the device will get a 44-megapixel selfie snapper. The camera setup of the device will be powered by Vivo’s in-house V1 Image Signal Processor (ISP) chip and will come with Zeiss color calibration.

The battery of the Vivo X80 Pro Plus will have 4700mAh capacity and will come with 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. Other than that, the device is said to have stereo speakers, up to 6GB virtual RAM capacity, an in-display fingerprint sensor, X-Axis Linear Motor for vibration, Android 12 based OS, and IP68 water and dustproof certification.

Vivo X80 Pro Specs (rumored)

The X80 Pro will bring a 6.78-inch FHD+ E5 AMOLED screen with 10-bit color support and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The device will house a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC under the hood and will come with 6GB/8GB LPDDT5 RAM and 128GB/256GB USF 3.1 storage.

For optics, the device will feature a quad-cam setup with a 50-megapixel SONY IMX789 sensor with f/1.4 aperture and OIS, and three 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 sensors playing the roles of an ultrawide camera, a 2x optical zoom camera, and a telephoto camera with 10x hybrid zoom and 60x “code zoom.” On the front, the X80 Pro will get a 32-megapixel selfie snapper.

The device will come with a 4700mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. It will run on Android 12 based OS OriginOS Ocean out of the box and will have NFC and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Two separate benchmark reports of an upcoming Vivo smartphone indicate that the model which will be part of the Vivo X80 series and is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, could make a loud entry into the market. The two results were from AnTuTu and Geekbench and the Vivo smartphone is codenamed V2186A.

Following the trajectory of the previous Vivo lineup, the X70, it is likely that the current model may be the Vivo X80 Pro. The overall AnTuTu score for the model was 1,072,221, while the Geekbench results were 1,248 and 4,191 for the single-core and multi-core tests respectively.

As per the AnTuTu results, the vivo X80 model outperforms both the Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen chipsets which power the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. As we know the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the flagship offering in the S22 series. Similarly, the vivo X80 Pro’s Dimensity 9000 also outperformed both the Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in the single-core and multi-core rests via Geekbench.

Although there are few details available for the possible release date of the vivo X80 Pro, its performance will put it on the high end of the flagship segment when it enters the market.
