<p>Last week, Xiaomi <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/10/12/xiaomi-discontinue-miui-gallery-sync-feature-for-global-users/">announced </a>that it will drop support for MIUI Gallery sync feature with Xiaomi Cloud. The company also disclosed that it will allow users to migrate their media to Google Photos in 2023.</p>

<p>Just a few days later, the smartphone maker now reveals that Google Photos will be integrated with MIUI Gallery starting next week.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="405" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-1024x405.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi MIUI Gallery Google Photos Integration" class="wp-image-491169" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-1024x405.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-300x119.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-768x304.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-1536x608.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-696x275.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-1068x422.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-1920x759.png 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration-1062x420.png 1062w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-MIUI-Gallery-Google-Photos-Integration.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Xiaomi <a href="https://www.mi.com/global/discover/article?id=2795">says</a> that it is integrating Google Photos backup functionality into MIUI Gallery. The integration will go live with a new version of the application.</p>

<p>The update will be rolled out via Xiaomi’s GetApps app store. It will be first made available in Singapore starting on October 24.</p>

<p>Existing users of Xiaomi Cloud will be able to migrate their media to Google Photos. Also, they will be offered a 3-month trial of Google One membership (100GB).</p>

<p>Xiaomi Cloud offers only 5GB of free storage and its family plan is limited to China. On the other hand, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Google/">Google </a>provides 15GB of free storage. Additionally, with Google One membership, users can not only expand storage but can also add up to 5 family members.</p>

<p>As mentioned earlier, the initial timeline disclosed by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/">Xiaomi </a>for the rollout of Google Photos integration with <a href="https://gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI/">MIUI </a>Gallery was 2023. Hence, we believe that it will take months to reach all the markets.</p>

<p>What are your thoughts on Xiaomi discontinuing the synchronization of MIUI Gallery with its own cloud service outside mainland China? Do let us know in the comment section below.</p>

It also has a feature that lets users sync their Gallery photos and videos with the cloud. However, today, the Chinese company announced that it will be discontinuing the Xiaomi Cloud Gallery Sync feature for global users. Here are the details.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-490313 size-full aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-cloud.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi cloud" width="585" height="301" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-cloud.jpg 585w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Xiaomi-cloud-300x154.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px" /></p>
<p>According to the official <a href="https://i.mi.com/announcement/stop_service">announcement post</a>, the Gallery Sync feature will no longer be supported by Xiaomi Cloud (<a href="https://twitter.com/kacskrz/status/1580151642632392706">via</a>). The company is yet to determine the exact date for the discontinuation of this feature, but it will start in 2022.</p>
<p>Users who have stored their photos and videos in the cloud will continue to have access to them through Google Photos. Xiaomi is apparently partnering with Google to support the migration and backup of the data.</p>
<p>In order to keep the photos and videos safe, Xiaomi will offer a convenient way to migrate existing Gallery Sync content to Google Photos. Additionally, users will be able to download their data from Xiaomi Cloud to their local devices or PCs.</p>
<p>The post mentions that the Google Photos migration window will close sometime in 2023 and the data download options will be taken offline. All the existing Gallery data saved on Xiaomi Cloud will be deleted permanently after that.</p>
<p>Further, Xiaomi will cancel all Xiaomi Cloud memberships, and users will be issued a full refund. However, the date for the same is yet to be known. Also, it is worth mentioning that other features of Xiaomi Cloud, such as syncing and backing up other data (such as Contacts, Messages, and Notes) can still be used.</p>
