Xiaomi‘s car making unit, Xiaomi Auto, has apparently had one of its senior officials resign recently. The auto unit’s marketing head has just resigned ahead of the launch of the company’s first ever car model. So here are all the details.

For those unaware, the Head of Marketing at Xiaomi Auto, Zhou Ying has recently resigned from the Chinese tech giant’s car making subsidiary. The marketing executive has resigned mere 7 months after joining the company’s car manufacturing team. Following the official establishment of Xiaomi Auto, the company had begun a series of hiring bringing in experts on board. One of the new leading positions was filled with Zhou Ying, who was also previously the deputy general managed of SAIC-GM-Wuling Sales Company.

As per an official statement from Xiaomi, Zhou Ying has resigned from this position due to personal and family reasons. Before he left the company, he worked as the marketing head of Xiaomi Auto and reported directly to the Founder and CEO of the brand, Lei Jun. This isn’t surprising since we had previously reported on Lei Jun directly working on the Auto brand and also being spotted personally taking the Xiaomi Modena EV out for test drives.

This first ever electric car is believed to feature a sporty sedan look and its design had been recently hinted at. The official was also spotted testing the car in the snow for extreme weather scenarios. It is unclear how Zhou Ying’s departure will affect the progress of the company’s car or its marketing efforts. But stick around for more updates regarding this matter.

Late last year, the second police riot team of the United Nations peacekeeping force was sent to Liberia. Having 110 Chinese citizens, the team returned safely to the Chinese mainland two days ago, on March 13. Successful on its own accord, the mission served as further proof of the power of Chinese smartphones, Xiaomi in particular.

A number of team members of the Chinese peacekeeping police force shared through the micro-blogging network Weibo their thoughts on the mission, as well as a few photos through their Xiaomi smartphones. “The Signal Strength was absolutely great,” members of the team stated, giving further proof that Xiaomi hardware is a force to be reckoned with.

According to officials, the mission in Liberia served a test area for the Xiaomi smartphones and following the successful testing, the mobile devices have now become standard equipment for the Liberia FPU team.

The war in the West African country Liberia has been progressing in the course of over ten years. The Chinese peacekeeping police force was invited as a part of the United Nations team to perform various helpful missions, including infrastructure work, repairs and transportation. While the country’s communications have been damaged by the war, thus resulting in a low signal strength, the Xiaomi Smartphones proved to be powerful enough to deliver a top notch performance even in the harsh area of Liberia.
