<p><img loading="lazy" class=" wp-image-445171 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgEc-XwAIOcF2.jpg?x96852" alt="Xiaomi" width="594" height="483" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgEc-XwAIOcF2.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgEc-XwAIOcF2-300x244.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgEc-XwAIOcF2-768x625.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgEc-XwAIOcF2-696x566.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgEc-XwAIOcF2-516x420.jpg 516w" sizes="(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px" /></p>
<p>The news arrives from a patent from the Chinese tech giant that was shared by @<a href="https://twitter.com/Shadow_Leak/status/1496004422308179968?s=20&amp;t=-c3jF-iCGVGq0r1zTBiEnA" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shadow_Leak</a> on Twitter. Looking at the images shared on the tweet, we can see that the smartphone features two display panels. The larger primary display folds inward, while one of the outer panels features the smaller secondary display. Meanwhile, the other half of the rear panel houses the main rear facing camera system, which comprises of three image sensors.</p>
<p>Although, its unknown what exact functions each sensor offers. Meanwhile, the front carries no notch for the selfie camera or any indication of an under display sensor. Rather, it seems that the brand might be attempting to revive the pop up trend, but this time with foldable smartphones. The selfie camera is situated in a pop up mechanism, which is likely to be motorized. Looking at this rising module, we can see two cut outs, which means that its a dual front camera setup.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class=" wp-image-445172 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgE4-XEAQ-3UU.jpg?x96852" alt="Xiaomi" width="590" height="472" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgE4-XEAQ-3UU.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgE4-XEAQ-3UU-300x240.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgE4-XEAQ-3UU-768x614.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgE4-XEAQ-3UU-696x557.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FMLgE4-XEAQ-3UU-525x420.jpg 525w" sizes="(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px" /></p>
<p>While the images only revealed these few details, the tweet also added another new change in this model. Apparently, the new foldable smartphone will feature larger batteries for longer battery life. This hints at Xiaomi actually working on such a device, rather than the company just covering all bases. So stick around for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this handset.</p>

OPPO was soon to follow with the Find X packing an even better sliding design. The pop-up camera hasn&#8217;t really caught up as just a few other phone makers have attempted to replicate the design style. Instead, we have seen more OEMs go for the notch design in which the selfie shooter is housed inside the notch. However, the last definitely hasn&#8217;t been heard of the pop-up design. First, Vivo is working on the V15 Pro mid-range model with a pop-up and then Xiaomi. Yes, Xiaomi may bring us a smartphone with a pop-up camera. <img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-183056" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Xiaomi-Earphone-With-Mic_4.jpg?x96852" alt="" width="894" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Xiaomi-Earphone-With-Mic_4.jpg 894w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Xiaomi-Earphone-With-Mic_4-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Xiaomi-Earphone-With-Mic_4-768x430.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 894px) 100vw, 894px" /></p>
<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s product director Wang Teng Thomas has disclosed in his interaction with netizens that the Chinese smartphone maker may launch such a mobile phone. The response from the exec in Chinese translates that the design is a trade-off, everyone needs it and Xiaomi will also have it. However, he added that it will depend on the need for the design. We should point out that the Mi Mix 3 released last year was Xiaomi&#8217;s first smartphone with a slider design. Also, Xiaomi is said to have applied for a patent for pop-up camera design as far back as 2015. <img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-236790" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/xiaomi.jpg?x96852" alt="" width="380" height="675" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/xiaomi.jpg 380w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/xiaomi-169x300.jpg 169w" sizes="(max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong>Read Also: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/08/xiaomi-patents-smartphone-design-with-four-sided-curved-edge-display/">Xiaomi patents smartphone design with four-sided curved edge display</a></strong></p>
<p>A Xiaomi pop-up camera may not be released anytime soon, though. The design still isn&#8217;t a popular one yet, even among phone users. Until it gets caught up like wildfire, we don&#8217;t see Xiaomi joining the bandwagon anytime soon.</p>
