That seems to have changed in recent times as Apple now looks like the one copying design features from Android OEMs. The latest iPhone 11 Pro came with a triple camera arranged in a square module that looks like a less impressive version of the Mate 20 Pro cameras. OnePlus 7T also came with a similar design. But it looks like that square camera module design will be adopted by many OEMs. An FCC listing said to be for the ZTE Blade 20 (Blade V20?) has appeared online with the rear panel housing a square camera module.

TheFCC listing serves us some details of the Blade 20, including the user manual and the entire design. It is difficult making out the front design clearly but it looks like the phone has a notch. The rear design includes the square-shaped camera module housing three camera sensors and an LED flash. The module is nested at the top left corner of the panel.

EDITOR’S PICK: First Samples from the 108MP Mi Mix Alpha is here & we are not impressed!

The phone also comes with a rear fingerprint sensor which means it is not an LED panel with an on-screen fingerprint sensor. The power button and volume rockers are located at the right side of the display. The phone uses a USB-C port and retains the 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Blade 20 is equipped with a large 5000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charge. Other specifications are unknown. We also don’t know when it will be launch but that should be far off.

The dual rear cameras will be a combination of a 12MP sensor and a 2MP shooter. Sources say both sensors will work together to allow you take pictures with bokeh effects and even shoot stereoscopic 3D pictures that can be viewed with a VR glasses. The dual sensors of the Blade V8 will also allow you take quick pictures of fast moving objects without the need for focusing.

ZTE has increased its promotion in many regions, especially in Europe in the past few months. These promotions seem to be working as the company is now the fifth-largest smartphone maker in Europe for the first quarter of 2016. Counterpoint Technology Market Research report revealed that the company shipped a lot of smartphones in Europe early this year, bringing it to the fifth position in the region.

“We’re very excited by our achievement in Europe, especially given that there are so many other smartphone companies that are trying to gain popularity here,” said Jacky Zhang, CEO of EMEA and APAC, ZTE Mobile Devices. “As we continue to launch premium smartphones pegged with an affordable price tag, it makes it easier for consumers to try our devices. We are thankful for the support fans have given us and we’re confident that we’ll soon rise to number four in Europe.”

ZTE seems to be focused on the European market with its mid-range and high-end smartphones. This includes the company’s ZTE Blade as well as the high-end Axon series. The ZTE Axon 7 was recently released in China and the phone is quite the beast with advanced audio capabilities. The company confirms that the Axon 7 will be announced in Europe and it’s positive about the consumer demand for the device in the region. ZTE also revealed that it sold over 30 million Blade series smartphones by the end of 2015 and European regions such as Germany, France, Spain and UK were a few of the key markets.

The company has been increasing expansion activities in Europe in the past few months, establishing cooperation with large retailers for its smartphones. The company has even co-sponsored sports teams like the German football team, Borussia Mönchengladbach. In the next one and a half years, the company aims to increase its market share in Germany to 4%. Then there’s Spain, wherein the company enjoys a share of 4.4%. To further increase brand awareness, ZTE signed with Sevilla Football Club as the official smartphone partner and even sponsored the Copa del Rey Championship. Plus, there was the ZTE Experience Tour that we reported earlier that toured across Europe showing off the company’s smartphones.

So, it looks like ZTE’s promotions to increase its brand awareness in Europe are slowly paying off.

Like the other models in the lineup, the ZTE Blade V7 comes with mid-range specs with a premium design, attracting customers who are looking for a good looking, value for money smartphone.

We had the opportunity to get our hands on the ZTE Blade V7 at MWC 2016 and here’s our initial impressions.

The first thing you notice when you take the Blade V7 in your hands is that the phone looks strikingly similar to the new iPhone models. It comes with 2.5D curved screen up front, with a slightly curved back as well. Further, the positioning of the speakers and microphones gives it a similar look to the new iPhone 6S Plus.

Don’t get me wrong, the phone is well built and fits well in your hand, but its just that it reminds you that the design is not exactly original. But once you get over it, the device as a whole starts to impress.

The power button is located on the right side and the SIM card slot lies on this side as well. The slot is hybrid which means you can insert a MicroSD card in one slot, which transforms your phone into a single SIM device.

The Blade V7 comes with a compact 5.2-inch display with FHD 1080p resolution. Under the hood, the company went with the MT6753 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. This is a tried and tested processor, that powers most Chinese mid-rangers in the market. There’s 2GB of RAM on board, 16GB storage and 13MP rear camera with PDAF and dual LED flash. You get a 5MP front facing shooter as well. The phone comes with the latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and features 2500mAh battery.

ZTE’s Nubia division has been very busy in the past couple of months. After launching the Nubia Z9 Mini, Max and the bezelless Nubia Z9 flagship, the company also launched the Nubia My Prague smartphone in Europe recently.

bezelless nubia z9

But these devices were from the Nubia division and there are a couple of ZTE’s own lineups like the ZTE Blade series as well as the Grand S series. It looks like one of these series will get a new flagship model on July 21.

Yes, we have received an invite from the company for a new flagship launch even which will be held on July 21. The invite further says that in addition to high-end specs, the new flagship will focus on its design as well as battery life. The company reportedly will incorporate a large high-density battery enough to last for about 50 hours.

Unfortunately at this moment, we are not quite sure which is this new flagship model. At this time of the year, the company usually launches the Nubia Z series smartphones but all the Z series models are already released. Moreover, both the Grand S and Blade series have got a new flagship model earlier this year. So, it would most likely be from the ZTE Star series. The latest flagship in the lineup (Star 2) was launched last year in December. Hence, its possible that the new flagship, the ZTE Star 3 will meet us on July 21.

zte star 3 renders

We have been hearing good things about the Star 3, like a dual rear camera setup and even the possibility of 4K display! But, the company is yet to confirm any of these specs.

Anyways, we will be keeping a close eye on the company for more updates. Yesterday, we reported that the company sold over 26 million smartphones in the first half of 2015 and aims to sell about 60 million by the end. So, its not surprising to see that the company is adding yet another flagship in its portfolio, which could boost its sales.

So, what do you think is this mystery flagship phone? Do you think its the Star 3 or do you have any other guesses?
