Sharp’s New Phone Has a Xiaomi Mi 5 inspired Design

by Habeeb Onawole 4

Sharp has a new phone, the Sharp M1 and while it does have some cool specs, it reminds of us of another device. Yes. The Xiaomi Mi 5. That’s the device the M1 looks like.

Sharp has put a 5.5” Full HD display with gorilla glass on the M1, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage and a MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3GHz. There is a 13MP camera on the back and another 13MP wide angle camera in front for selfies. It will also come with a SD card slot that can take up to a 64GB card, and a 2600mAh battery to supply power. The Sharp M1 will ship with Android 6.0 and have LTE (FDD and TDD) support.

Yes it does look the Xiaomi Mi 5 judging from the curved back which meets up with the front, but it still has some features different such as the use of capacitive buttons instead of a physical home button up front which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner on the Xiaomi. The positioning of the front camera and sensors are also different. The Sharp M1 also uses a circular LED instead of the horizontal type present on the Mi 5. The phone will be available in white and pink (to appeal to the female folk).

First thing is Mi5 is using fastest latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 so really NOTHING TO COMPARE to much weaker Mediatek 6753 SOC. Hey at least give a more descent SOC like P10 or X20 / X25 !!!

Second thing is this pricing is ridiculously freakin’ expensive. At least sharp need to cut their price by 50% to compete with other brand. But again most japanese product nowaday are selling at premiuim prices so nothing new here.

So finally even big japanese brand like sharp now followed china manufacturer dirty tactic by copying their casing while giving the much lower hardware spec in order to trick people into buying their products. Shame on you sharp !!
