Apple eventually removed the earphone jack from their new phones and in typical Apple fashion, they announced a pair of expensive wireless in-ear earphones called Airpods that you can purchase for your phone.
While we don’t want to start on how ridiculous the Airpods look, we’d rather talk about the availability. The Apple Airpods are not yet on sale, if you check the Apple store it is listed as unavailable. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get your hands on it, that is if you are comfortable buying knock offs.
Chinese online mall Taobao has a pair of Airpods look alike made by a manufacturer called Dacom that are priced between ¥125-¥299 (~$18-$43) which is way cheaper than the ¥1095 ($159) Apple is asking for.
The Dacom 7S X1 has a standby time of 6 days and a bluetooth range of 20 meters. You can use it to answer calls too but we don’t think it sports all the bells and whistles of the original Airpods like the ability to switch between your connected devices; automatic pause and play when you pull them out of your ears and insert them back; or double tap into Siri. For earbuds priced at $18, there is a limit to what we can expect.Always be the first to know. Follow us:
