Samsung will be debuting the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on Feb. 25 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. Samsung had launched the Exynos and Snapdragon chipset variants of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in 2017. This year too the Galaxy S9 duo are expected to arrive in Exynos and Snapdragon SoC variants. Today, the Exynos 9810 chipset driven Galaxy S9 has appeared on Geekbench. It has outperformed the Snapdragon 845 powered Galaxy S9 on the benchmarking site.

The model numbers of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ were revealed in the previous month through their appearance at the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in the U.S. The SM-G960 and SM-G965 are the respective model numbers of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The SM-G960F that has now appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform is the single-SIM edition of the Galaxy S9 that could be heading to the Europe. This model is fueled by 1.79 GHz universal9810 octa-core processor which is nothing but the newly introduced Exynos 9810 SoC.

On single-core test, the Galaxy S9 with Exynos 9810 chipset has scored 3648. It has recorded a score of 8894 in the multi-core test. The Galaxy S9 can be seen running on Android 8.0 and the SoC is coupled with 4 GB of RAM.

On the other side, the SM-G9650 Galaxy S9+ powered by Snapdragon 845 and 6 GB of RAM has scored 2214 and 8296 respectively on single-core and multi-core tests in Geekbench. Like the S9, the S9+ is also running on Android 8.0. Despite featuring 6 GB of RAM, the Snapdragon 845 driven S9 has failed to outperform the S9 with Exynos 9810 and 4 GB of RAM.

The Exynos 9810 is a second-generation 10nm chipset from Samsung that includes four cores of Exynos M3 that clocks at 2.9 GHz and four cores of Exynos M3 that works at 1.3 GHz. The SoC includes ARM Mali G72 MP 18 graphics. It includes Cat. 18 LTE modem that supports of 1.2 Gbps download speed.

The Snapdragon 845 is a second-generation 10nmm chipset from Qualcomm. It comprises of eight cores of Kryo 385 that delivers a clocking speed of up to 2.8 GHz. It features Adreno 630 graphics and Snapdragon X120 LTE modem that is also capable of producing maximum download speeds of 1.2 Gbps.
