Smartisan has confirmed today that it will be holding a launch event on April 9. It is speculated that the Chinese manufacturer may debut the rumored Smartisan Nut 2 through the upcoming launch event.

The forthcoming Smartisan unveil event will be held on April 9 starting at 2:30 PM local time. It had launched the Snapdragon 660 powered Nut 2 Pro in November last year. Hence, it is unlikely the successor Nut 3 Pro in the coming month.

A recent report had revealed that the company may announce the mid-range Nut 2 on April 9. Leaked images have revealed that the handset will resemble the MI MIX 2, but it will retain the fingerprint scanner enabled home button on its chin. Instead of 18:9, it may feature a different aspect ratio supporting display.

The Nut 2 is speculated to feature Snapdragon 636 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It may come in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage models that may be respectively priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$252), 1,799 Yuan (~$284) and 1,999 Yuan (~$315).

Previous leaks have suggested that Smartisan will be launching 6 new phones this year and it will be holding 4 media events to announce them. The Smartisan T3 and T3L flagship phones are rumored to get announced on May 15. As of this writing, it is only known that the T3 would be featuring notched enabled display, horizontally aligned dual rear cameras and Snapdragon 845 chipset.
