Earlier today, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had confirmed that it will be keeping a launch event on June 6 the Honor PLAY phone that will deliver AI based pathbreaking 4D gaming experience. The smartphone is also expected to also include AI driven camera functions. Honor will be unleashing it at the Beijing University Gymnasium in Beijing, China. The company has also confirmed today on Weibo that it will be announcing another phone called Honor 9i at the same event.

The below poster shows the Chinese actress Zhao Li Ying endorsing the Honor 9i phone. The smartphone is dubbed as a lite flagship smartphone. The 9i features a notched display design like the recently unveiled Honor V10 flagship phone.

Honor had released last year’s Huawei Mate 10 Lite with multiple monikers in different regions. In India, the Mate 10 Lite had debuted as Honor 9i. The above poster confirms that the company will be using the same moniker for its upcoming phone.

The Honor LLD-AL20 and LLD-AL30 phones that have surfaced on TENAA are the two editions of the upcoming Honor 9i. The below shown TENAA images of the Honor LLD-AL30 phone also confirm on its notched display design. TENAA is yet to update the listing of Honor LLD-AL20 with its images.

The Honor LLD-AL20 and LLD-AL30 devices have identical specs, but they differ in RAM and storage configurations. The LLD-AL20 smartphone has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The LLD-AL30 also features 4 GB of RAM, but it comes in two storage options like 32 GB and 128 GB. Both Honor 9i editions are loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo. For additional storage, these phones are equipped with external storage slot.

The TENAA listings of LLD-AL20 and LLD-AL30 reveals that the Honor 9i will be housing a 5.84-inch display that will produce Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels along with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Honor 9i is fueled by an octa-core processor that clocks at 2.36 GHz. It is speculated that the handset may feature the older Kirin 960 chipset. It is packed with a 2,900mAh battery.

The horizontal dual camera setup lying on the rear of the Honor 9i features a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary sensor of 2-megapixel. It is equipped with a front-facing shooter of 16-megapixel.

The dimensions of the Honor 9i are 149.2 x 71.8 x 7.7 mm and it weighs 152 grams. TENAA listings of Honor 9 variants show that it will be available in color choices like black, blue and gray. Rumors have it that the Honor 9i could be available with be priced around 1,799 Yuan (~$281).
