Huawei recently revealed that it invested heavily in its R&D division and the results have been streaming in. Huawei’s elite brand recently announced the Honor 9i. The device is a mid-range model alongside the Honor Play as well as a new GPU Turbo technology.
The Honor 9i is an affordable smartphone but still present with a premium design. on the display front, the device comes with a full-screen notch design. We have gradually seen a shift from the 5-inch display to 6 inches display sizes. The Honor 9i sports a 5.84-inch IPS LCD display with an FHD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The device features a metal frame wrapped with a 2.5D glass panel at the front and rear. The back glass panel has a 12 -layer nan0-coating which gives it a dazzling mirror-like effect.
The 9i packs a dual camera setup at the rear arranged horizontally at the top left corner. The rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is located in the middle. The device will be available in Black, Blue, Jade Green and Dream Purple.
As far as the specs go, the Honor 9i packs a Hisilicon Kirin 659 SoC inside it. The processor is paired with a 4GB RAM while there is a 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage variants.
One aspect where the Honor 9i seems to perform impressively is the camera aspect. The camera samples captured by the rear cameras come out with vivid clarity. The front camera is a 16-megapixel photosensitive enhanced lens with a pixel size of 2.0μm. The front-facing camera can capture better selfie shots in dim light conditions. Other features of the front camera include beauty mode and AR function. The selfie snapper can also double up as face unlock feature.
The rear camera is a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel combo with a dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, fast autofocus, scene detection and multi-frame image processing. The camera samples show the capability of the camera to detect different scenes and adjust appropriately to ensure the output is crisp clear.

Other aspects of the Honor 9i include a 3000mAh battery, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack. The device is preloaded with EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The device is priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$218) for the 64GB variant and 1,699 Yuan (~$265) for the 128GB variant. Find more pictures in the gallery below.
