Earlier this month, Taiwan-based Asus launched its first gaming smartphone — Asus ROG to take on the new segment of gaming smartphones, which includes devices like the Black Shark gaming phone, the Nubia Red Devil, and the Razer Phone.
The company had revealed that the smartphone will be launched in the third quarter but the company has not specified any date. Now, the gaming smartphone is confirmed to launch in the United States as the phone has been listed on official Asus USA website. However, the pricing details of the phone still remains a mystery.
The smartphone comes with a 6-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz and a 1ms response time, and also supports HDR. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that is overclocked at 2.96GHz.
It packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 512GB of internal storage. As for the camera, it features an 8MP camera in front and a 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup on the back.
Running on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box, the smartphone comes powered by a 4,000mAh battery with support for ASUS HyperCharge fast charging technology. ASUS has moved the charging chip from the phone to the power adapter to reduce the heat from charging.
The Asus ROG Phone has a special X Mode that can be activated by squeezing the sides of the phone. With the special X Mode, the phone stops all background tasks and directs all processing power to the game you are playing. Further, when in X Mode, the phone’s UI also changes from blue to deep red.
First unveiled at Computex 2018, the company has not yet revealed any detail about its global availability, neither about its listing price. Now, based on the latest reports, apart from the US, the phone is also expected to launch in India by September this year.
