Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has officially launched a new Limited edition version of the latest HTC U12+ flagship in Taiwan. The version is called HTC U12+ Mayday limited edition and is different from the regular U12+ in a few ways.
For the avoidance of doubt, Mayday here doesn’t refer to workers’ day but to the popular five-member Taiwanese band. The HTC U12+ Mayday limited edition comes in Black colour only with an exclusive Mayday logo on the back. The device is also bundled with a Mayday theme and exclusive Mayday MP3 ringtone. In addition, HTC also throws in a Mayday lightweight cross-body bag and an unlimited party towel inside the gift box.
As far as the specs go, the Mayday Limited edition of the U12+ packs a similar 6-inch Super LCD notch-less screen with a Quad HD+ resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels. The device also comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio and HDR 10 support. The device packs a dual camera setup on top of the rear glass panel. The two cameras are arranged horizontally at the middle surrounded by a pill-shaped enclosure. The main camera is a 12MP wide-angle sensor having HTC’s UltraPixel 4 technology. The second sensor is a 16MP telephoto lens. The dual camera brings features like 2x optical zoom and bokeh. The main camera records HDR10 video and has ultrafast whole-sensor phase detection autofocus, aided by laser autofocus. The kit is able to do 4K video at 60fps, as well as 1080p slow-mo at 240fps, too. The device also packs dual cameras at the front, both 8MP sensors. Th front cameras are capable of capturing better portrait shots and bring Face Unlock. You also get a wide angle lens, screen flash, AR stickers, and HDR Boost.
The HTC U12+ is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. The Mayday limited edition come in 64GB storage only. Th phone is also fueled by a 3500mAh battery. As for the price, the HTC U12+ Mayday limited edition is priced at NT$24,900 (~$815, about 5,400 yuan).
