Honor has announced that it will put up a new special edition of the Honor Play on August 1. The Honor Play Special Edition will be available in two colours – Enchanting Red and Magic Night Black. Both variants will be priced at 2,499 yuan ($366) and will be sold simultaneously on Jingdong, Tmall and other platforms. Honor Play Special Edition

The main difference between the regular Honor Play and this special edition is the appearance. Honor disclosed that this new edition will come with a laser engraved back design. The teaser poster which accompanied the device contains the photo of the device, giving us a clear view of its looks. Beautiful geometric lines are engraved on the back, right from the bottom to the top. The camera and fingerprint sensor have a red accent both on the Red and Black colored variants.

Apart from the design, the special edition isn’t any different from the regular model in its specification. As a reminder, the Honor Play is equipped with a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution Full-HD LCD screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 85 percent NTSC color gamut. The device is powered by a Kirin 970 chipset. This chipset is paired with a 6GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. In the camera department, It is embedded with a dual rear 16 + 2-megapixel camera setup with AI features. The selfies are handles by a 16-megapixel front camera. Under the hood is a 3,750 mAh battery and runs EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
