After teasing the Red edition of the Redmi smartphone in India, Xiaomi has today officially launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro Red Edition. With this, the phone is now available in five color options in India — Black, Blue, Gold, Rose Gold, and Red.

Currently, the Redmi Note 5 Pro Red Edition is now available for purchase on Xiaomi’s Mi.com and will soon be available through online marketplace Flipkart. The 4GB RAM model costs Rs. 14,999 (approximately $211) while the 6GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 16,999, which roughly converts to $239.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Red Edition

The Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display that offers a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels with a 2.5D curved glass on top. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 636 processor with 4GB/6GB RAM. It packs 64GB of internal storage and comes with a microSD card slot, enabling users to expand the storage capacity.

For photography, there’s a dual camera setup on the backside of the Redmi Note 5, featuring a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 primary sensor with a pixel size of 1.25μm and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor from Samsung with a pixel size of 1.12μm for capturing depth information.

On the front side, the phone comes equipped with a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 camera sensor with LED flash and Beautify 4.0 for capturing AI-driven beautified photos. The company has also introduced the AI-based Face Unlock feature.

The phone comes equipped with other features like hybrid SIM slot that supports dual SIM and microSD card, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro USB and 3.5mm audio jack. Running on Android Nougat out-of-the-box with the company’s own MIUI custom interface on top, the phone is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery that supports fast charging.

Xiaomi has also scheduled a launch event in India tomorrow, where the company will launch three new smartphones under its sixth-generation Redmi-series.
