HMD Global sure knows how to keep her loyal customers and one way they are doing it is through regular updates of its software on new and existing models. The company rolled out new camera update for the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1. The Nokia 8 also got a Pro camera mode via update a couple of months back. Nokia’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas has now disclosed that the device will get Android 9.0 Pie update soon.

The Nokia exec reveal this is in a reply to a Nokia 8 user who was querying why the company has not released the camera and face unlock update on the model on Twitter. Sarvikas revealed that Android  9.0 Pie will soon bring Face Unlock feature, ARCore support and another camera update. The Android Pie update is also being worked on for other of the company’s products and is expected to start rolling out to eligible models starting with the Nokia 7 Plus in early September.

The Camera 9.0 update earlier released for the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6.1 smartphones enables switching between different aspect ratios and shooting functions, along with adjustments to parameters within different camera modes, such as the intensity of effects like Bokeh and Beautify. With the update, the three smartphones have also received Google Lens support, directly in the camera app. The feature can be used for finding information about whatever image is being captured in real time. The update also enables Google Motion with which a user can capture short videos for directly sharing to messaging services and social media platforms as a GIF.
