Meizu 16X September 19 launch event confirmed; Will rival with Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition

Meizu CEO Jack Wong has claimed many times in the recent past that the company will be launching the Meizu 16X smartphone in September, but the exact launch date has remained under the wraps.  The handset is expected to arrive as a lite version (or youth edition) of Meizu 16th series that was unveiled in the previous month. Through its Weibo account, Meizu has confirmed that it will be launching the Meizu 16X smartphone on Sept. 19. On the very same date, Xiaomi too will be announcing the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition through a launch event in Chengdu.

The Meizu 16X was recently spotted on TENAA with its full specifications. The handset is expected to feature a notch-less Super AMOLED screen of 6 inches and it is confirmed to arrive with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The Snapdragon 710 chipset will be powering the smartphone. The highest configuration model of the Meizu 16X may feature 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

The Meizu 16X will be arriving with the same 12-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera setup that is available on the Meizu 16th. It is likely to house a front-facing camera of 20-megapixel. It will be fueled by 3,100mAh battery and may also feature dual front-facing speakers. The Meizu 16X is rumored to be priced between 2,000 Yuan (~$290) and 2,500 Yuan (~$363).

The Meizu 16X will be rivaling with Mi 8 Youth Edition since both the smartphones are scheduled to go official on the same date. The entire specifications of the Mi 8 Youth Edition have been revealed through its TENAA listing. The smartphone is expected to arrive with a 6.26-inch LCD screen. The notched display of the smartphone is expected to support an aspect ratio of 19:9. The Snapdragon 710 could be present under the hood of the smartphone. It may arrive with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of native storage.

For shooting selfies, it will be featuring a frontal shooter of 24-megapixel. Its rear is expected to feature dual 12-megapixel snappers. The handset may receive power from 3,500mAh battery. The Mi 8 Youth Edition may carry a price tag of around 1,999 Yuan (~$290).
