Back in 2015, when MediaTek unveiled the Helio X20, the chip maker was not only recognized for unveiling the first mobile processor with 10-cores, it was also praised for the SoC’s Tri-Cluster technology. The tri-cluster technology allowed it to arrange the processor cores in three clusters instead of two.  The advantage was a more efficient way of allocating tasks which resulted in better performance and a better battery life.

Fast forward to 2018 and the other chip makers such as Samsung with its new Exynos 9820 and Huawei with its Kirin 980 have now jumped on the tri-cluster arrangement. A new leak has revealed Qualcomm will also be doing the same with the Snapdragon 8150 set for release next month.

The info comes from an image shared on Twitter by Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), that reveals the Snapdragon 8150 will have 8-cores arranged in a 1+3+4 tri-cluster.
