A fresh report on Bloomberg has revealed that a Huawei phone codenamed as Princeton will be equipped with support for 3D photography. The report also states that the smartphone will be announced this month and its sales is expected to begin within a few weeks. The Princeton codename belongs to PCT-AL10 and PCT-TL10 model numbers that belong to Honor V20 smartphone. The same phone with model number PCT-L29 will be debuting in the coming month as Honor View 20.

An unnamed source has revealed to the publication that the Princeton phone features sensors developed by Sony Corporation. Huawei aims to become the global leader in the smartphone industry. One of the ways it is planning to achieve it is by offering features that are not yet available on leading brands like Samsung and Apple. The Honor V20 is expected to arrive with 3D camera feature for accurately creating 3D models of people and objects in real-time which can be shared with others. The 3D models can be used with by AR (Augmented Realty) apps.

Apart from generating 3D images, the 3D camera will allow developers to control apps and games in innovative like hand gestures. The 3D Camera feature is also expected to be available on forthcoming Huawei phones arriving in 2019.

It seems that the phone could be equipped with triple camera sensors out of which the third sensor will be a ToF (Time of Flight) 3D sensing camera. It works by emitting infrared light on to the surface on an object which bounces back to the sensor. The sensor also measures depth by determining the differences in energy levels which helps in creation of 3D maps of the object. Neither Huawei or Sony have commented on the existence of such a feature an upcoming Huawei phone.

Rumors have it that the Honor V20 will go official on Dec. 27 in China with a price tag of 2,799 Yuan (~$406). It is speculated to house a display that supports 2310 x 1080 pixels resolution with in-screen camera hole design. It will be loaded with Android 9 Pie OS.  The handset will be fueled by Kirin 980 chipset and it will carry support for 22.5W fast charging.
